Chapter 5 : To Get Admission to Auradon
Roman POV:
The wind licked up my neck. Leaves blew in the wind, sweeping across the courtyard I looked over. Sighing in content, I turned away from the rising sun. My cape swept as I re-entered my room from the balcony.
"Patt?" I called out, noticing the hint of a blue shirt behind my bed.
"Oh uh, hey Roman!" Patton stood up from his hiding place and rubbed his neck sheepishly.
"What are you doing here?"
"Uhm, so," he walked closer to me, "Virgil has requested that his guest comes by the end of the week-"
"But that's in 2 days!"
"Yes," Patton's hands jumped forward as he started to ramble, "but he said it's his express wishes, and if we don't get them here on time he'll do it himself, which will be a huge disaster. Not to mention-"
"I get it," I cut Patton off and inhaled. My hands rubbed my temples and I turned towards my dresser. "Is there a realistic way we can get them here by Saturday?"
"Uhm," Patton thought for a second. I took a few steps forward, my boots hitting against the wood floor, my red cape draped behind me. Shifting through books and papers that littered my vanity (I go over them as I do my makeup and hair) I read through a few.
"Patt?" I asked impatiently, my eyes trailing the letters of the pages.
"Uhm," He shifted uncomfortably. "Just get Logan," I sighed and sat down, 2 pages in my hands. There was a boat load of paperwork that had to be filled out in order for anyone to visit Auradon. It was pardoned when the transfers came, but since Virgil's disappearing act, security was increased even more.
"Right away Roman," Patton saluted and exited the room. With him gone I buried my head in my hands and groaned.
"You good Princey?" His smooth voice cut through my frustration. My head shot up, brown eyes widening at the King leisurely leaning against the door frame.
"No I am not good," I snapped. "Sorry," I rubbed my head again. "Your request is impossible," I said flatly.
"No it's not," Virgil kicked off the door, walking towards me he said: "You can get it done."
"No I can't," I responded, defeated. Virgil leaned over me, his hand hovering over mine. Instantly, I felt a blush began to spread over my tan skin.
"Here, what's this?" he plucked the page out of my grasped and backed up. Even though he was no longer on top of me, I still couldn't get the thoughts out of my head. Glancing over, I saw Virgil now leaning against a column of my poster bed. I couldn't help but see how his black skinny jeans gripped his legs. His purple button up had the the top unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up. Gods me damned, why did he have to be so hot?
"Princey," Virgil was snapping in front of my face. "Oh, uh, what?" I asked intelligently. "You zoned out, here." he handed the paper back to me.
"What does this mean?" Virgil threw his head back and mumbled something about a 'blundering fool'
"As stated, you need answers about him-"
"It's a him then?" Virgil ignored my statement and continued, "in order to make sure he's not a security threat. Then there's also the matter of where he's staying and stuff like that, but we can easily answer that."
"Where is he staying?" I interrupted again. Virgil glared at me slightly. It's no fair, even if he's scary he's also really hot.
"He'll stay here, in the castle. Anyway," he picked back up, "I will be able to answer all the questions regarding him-"
Once again Virgil was interrupted, but this time it was by Logan who stood at the door. "How can we take your word for it? If I remember correctly, you need the primary source and a witness to confirm it. Here, we only have you."
"Well Logan," Virgil spat his name out. I'm guessing he's still a little sour at his old best friend, "You have to take my word for it. In case you forgot, I am a King. If you blatantly accuse me of lying, well..." He didn't have to say it, but we all realized.
"Fine," Logan cleared his throat. "I will assist you Roman-"
"Actually," I cut him off, glancing between Virgil and him, "We can do this by ourselves." With a small nod, Logan exited the room. Virgil, for some reason, rose his eyebrow and glanced at me. He shook his head and spoke up, "Anyway, let's get to it."
------------
We have been working together for about an hour now. It's been an hour, an hour, of alone time with Virgil. Although I know it's probably not for the best, I can't help but miss him. Miss this. This closeness, this connection. I know we're only working on getting his friend off of the Isle, but it still brings back memories of when we were dating. I wish that we could go back to then. Nothing was complicated. No one was questioning morals or spelling people. We would just sit together for hours talking. He would lay his head down in my lap, my fingers laced in his hair. When talking about something he liked, Virgil's eyes were light up. His smile was one of admiration and joy. I could never resist the urge to lean down and kiss him. Virgil's lips were always soft, rarely chapped. He tasted like lavender and honey. Like a summer night, snuggled up together with friends roasting marshmallows. Like collapsing into your lovers hands after a long, exhausting day, just letting them hold you till you both fall asleep, the rest of your responsibilities floating away as dreams rush in.
How I wish I could experiences that again.
"Hey, Ro?" Virgil poked my shoulder, my eyes refocusing on him. "Ya?"
"We're almost done. We have like... 2 questions left." He beamed at me, though disappointment rooted itself into me. I'd only have a few more minutes of alone time with Virge, who knows when I'd get to do this again?
"Hey, Virge?" The nickname came before I could stop it. Virgil stiffened besides me. "yes?" he asked cautiously.
"I'd love to do this again... hang out I mean," Virgil inched a little farther away from me. "Sorry Roman, but, I have a lot on my plate right now. Let's just finish this form."
We did the next two questions in silence before Virgil collected the papers. "I'm going to drop this off to Logan for him to process. Bye Roman." He stood up, brushing dust off his pants.
"Bye Virgil," I said too quietly, him already gone from the door.
