Fighting Over The Hat
Dusk had arrived when Hayes and I started to make our way back to his house. He was giving me a piggyback ride.
I suddently got an idea on how I could mess with him. I took the hat that he was wearing off his head, and put it on my head.
The hat just so happened to be the same hat that I had knocked off his head, the first day we ever hung out, in the woods. It had turned into my favorite hat that he wore.
"Hey. Give me my hat back," he laughed. "Nope," I replied. "Fine then I'll drop you in there," he said pointing to a big lake. "Do it and I'll pull you in with me," I warned him. "I doubt that you can pull me with you," he said. "Try me," I replied.
He tightened his grip under my legs, and took off running towards the lake. We were almost at the bank when he turned around, and started to run backwards.
Just before he let go of me I held his neck tighter than I had been before. Not to tight to make it hard for him to breath, but so that I had a firm grasp on his neck.
When he let go of my legs and tried to drop me into the lake, since I had a good hold of him, he wound up falling in with me. "Really?" he laughed. He shook his head like a dog spraying water at me. "I told you I'd pull you in," I said smiling.
He swam over to me, and pushed my head under the water. As soon as I came back up I tackled him into the water. We started to have a fight in the water. The sun had gone down when the fight ended.
We headed back to his house again soaking wet. He had claimed his hat back, and was now wearing it.
When we got to the house he opened the door and yelled into the house. "Can someone please get me two towels?" he asked. "Hold on," I heard his mom yell.
"Why do you need-" She started to ask walking towards us. Elizabeth looked at us and shook her head. "Lake?" She asked. "Yeah," Hayes answered.
"Dry yourselves off and go put on some dry clothes. Olivia I'm sure Hayes has something you can wear. I'll throw your clothes in the dryer," She said. She handed us the towels and walked off. I dried myself off as best as possible while Hayes did the same thing. "Come on," he said when we were done. We walked into his house and went straight to his room. He walked over to his dresser, and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. "Here you go. Bathrooms right down the hall." he said throwing the clothes at me. "Thanks," I said. I left the room and went to the bathroom to change.
Even though we weren't officially boyfriend and girlfriend we acted like we were. I wore his clothes often, we were always flirting, and for crying out loud we had shared two kisses today.
I know he had asked me if I wanted to go on a date with him some time, but he had still not told me when. I wondered if he was ever going to ask me to be his girlfriend because going on a date and officially dating were two different things.
I walked out of the bathroom, with my wet clothes in my hands, and went to the kitchen. Elizabeth was setting the table for dinner. "I'll set the table if you wouldn't mind putting these," I held up my clothes, " in the dryer, " I said. "Okay," She replied taking my clothes from me.
I had started to eat dinner with them every Tuesday night. They always had tacos on Tuesdays. Everyone in Hayes' family knew that I loved tacos. I was starting to feel like a part of their family.
Which was a nice change considering that Elizabeth treated me like her daughter, and my mom treated me like I was her friend. It had been really hard on my mom when my dad left her for another women. I was the only thing she had left, so I turned into more of a friend to her then a daughter.
Arms wrapped around my waist taking me away from my thoughts. A head leaned on my shoulder and a voice said, "You look hot in my clothes." I immediately knew it has Hayes. "I've worn your clothes before," I replied. "I know, but I don't think I've told you that you before," he said. I could hear a smirk in his voice.
I wished that he would stop messing with my feelings, and ask me to be his girlfriend already.
I could hear my heart beating loudly in my chest. It felt like it was going to explode. I was pretty sure he could hear it. I didn't know what to say to the compliment he gave to me, so I blurted out, "I'm not gonna lie they are pretty comfortable." Hayes started to laugh. "Glad you think so," he said. I rolled my eyes, and wiggled out of his arms.
I finished setting the table when the rest of Hayes' family entered the kitchen. We sat down, and ate dinner. When we were done eating I got my clothes out of the dryer, and went back to the bathroom to change. I hugged Hayes, Elisabeth, and Skylynn goodbye then went home.
My mom was already in her room asleep when I got home. I was really tired from the long day I had, so I changed into my pyjamas and we to bed too.
