12 - Traitor
<Jungkook POV>
After a long day with Taehyung, Jungkook felt exhausted, but proud at the same time. He took his own decision for once and he enjoyed it, even if it meant rebelling against orders he knew Taehyung was worth it. He loved watching his soulmate sleep in his arms, embracing his sweet scent, just enjoying the presence of someone who genuinely likes him. I better not ruin this...
Though it was both their first time, he remembers feeling the sacred bond between them get stronger and stronger. They could have been called sinners, but it felt right and there was no regrets. Except... for that one thing that was bothering Jungkook... What would his father think about him falling for an enemy? Or worse even about his failure to get the bracelet? I can't even imagine...
It was scary. The entire future of the Jeons depends on him. Is it really right to be selfish? This bracelet could help all the people of his clan... It's probably better than his own happiness, no? Isn't what his mother did too? Sacrifice her life and what she had for her people? Maybe it's up to Jungkook to do the same now... Maybe it's not the right time for him to be with Taehyung... Maybe it's not the right time for him to get distracted from his goal, his mission.
He glances at Taehyung one more time. The Beta was deeply sleeping, probably exhausted after that day... He was everything Jungkook wanted, but he had to let it go. It was hurting him so much... He could feel his heart tear in his chest when he slowly got Taehyung off of him, careful not to wake him up. The sun was setting, it was time for him to go back home and get the artefact while he could, before anyone else wakes up and looks for him. As he got off the bed, he gently caresses Tae's cheek and looks at the details of his face with fondness, to remember every inch of it just in case... Before leaving, he leans in and kisses the Beta's forehead softly.
"Good bye, my little fox..." Jungkook whispers before walking to the window. He unlocks it as quietly as possible and hops on the edge, ready to fly off. He resists the urge to turn back and look at Taehyung again. What if this was a mistake? What if he should stay and forget about his dad's revenge or his leader's ambitious plans? What if for once all he wanted was to take a break and stay with his soulmate who was so close to his grasp? Or worse, what if Taehyung never forgives him? Hesitantly, he glances back at the sleeping vampire with guilt. He quickly shakes his head and sighs. No... There is a reason for all of this, I'm sure... He'll understand... I'm sorry...

<Taehyung POV>
A loud banging on the door wakes Taehyung up abruptly. He jumps and quickly sits up, looking around, processing the strange feeling in his body and his head. Then suddenly, his memories come back to him. Jungkook...! He looks around desperately for the elf, but he is nowhere in sight. He didn't even say bye. Hopefully he's safe, at least... Maybe he left in a rush when he heard the bang.
"Taehyung!" calls a hurried voice behind the door.
Shit shit shit! Taehyung quickly gets out of bed and almost falls while limping to his closet to put on the first clothes he can find.
"One second!" he replies rushed.
"It's very urgent, sir, the Dragon Bracelet has disappeared! We suspect the escaped prisoner to be the culprit!"
Taehyung freezes. This must be a coincidence. There is no way Jungkook could have done that! Angrily, he finishes dressing up and swings the door open, only to end up face to face with Suni.
"You're my apprentice. I need you to help me set up a plan to stop the Jeons and get the fire artefact back."
Tsk, good evening to you too. Taehyung wasn't even fully awake and was still processing yesterday and now this information just gets thrown at his face and HE has to solve it? He glares at his leader without even trying to hide it and she gives him a stern look.
"Any ideas?" she asks in a more dry tone than earlier.
Taehyung stays silent.
"Well? He was your prisoner!" she insists.
"...Yes. I have an idea. Just calm down first." he replies on the same tone. She did not like it at first and was about to retort, but she takes a deep breath instead and calms down.
"Sorry for jumping at you... I'm just really scared of what they are capable now with that bracelet. You have no idea how dangerous it is for us and-"
"I know it is dangerous but panicking won't help. I have an idea but I need to think about it more, I am sure it will work. Just give me more time."
She gives him a hesitant look.
"Please?"
"Fine. You have 12 hours. Then, I am calling a meeting with our generals."
"Perfect."
He waits for her to leave and closes the door, then limps back to his bed and flops on it. Fuck... This can't be happening... This can't be real... Thoughts are racing in Taehyung's head. He hides his face in his hands, trying to process the situation. He felt so stupid. How could he just let Jungkook use him like that? It all made sense. He just used him as a distraction then waited for the sun to go down to makes sure the coast is clear and finish his mission. Ugh! What an idiot! I should have known the whole 'I don't want to lie anymore' thing was an act! It was so obvious and yet Taehyung still fell for it. He fell really bad. He shouldn't have trusted the enemy vampire since the beginning. He shouldn't have fed him for days and tried to take care of him. He shouldn't have been curious about this soulmate thing, he knew it would just create more problems.
As he keeps realizing his idiocy and keeps on blaming himself, Tae felt tears of anger come up to his eyes. Suddenly he grabs a pillow and starts hitting it angrily, screaming in pain. You're just a traitor! I knew it! I hate you! I hate you so much! He tears the pillow in two and moves to the second one, ignoring the feathers falling around him. Get out of my head, Jungkook! Everything reminded him of the Alpha he was starting to love. Everything was hurting so much. He destroys the second pillow and slowly the tears of anger change to tears of agony. As memories kept flashing in his head, he blamed himself more and more. He remembers the kisses, the way Jungkook held him, the way he smelled, the way he looked... He relived some of the scenes, he even missed his touch, the looks he gave him, how he sounded so soft, his sweet voice, everything about him drove Taehyung crazy... And it wasn't even real. It wasn't even genuine. It was all fake, but the pain was so real, and Tae hated it. Why did it have to be like that? Why couldn't things just work? I thought... I thought I could give him a chance... I thought he liked me... But I was just a Beta he toyed around with, nothing more. And he's just a traitor. Nothing more.
