Combat Mage?

Dreadwolf twisted the staff, and a seam was now visible. He pulled slightly, and the staff came apart.... But it was no normal staff. The few inches at the bottom, where it had split, turned out to be a handle... In his hands, Dreadwolf now held a staff and a longsword.
     "Awesome..." He grinned. The shopkeeper looked baffled.
     "W-what?? How...? I have never seen any staff do that!!" The shopkeeper stuttered.
      Dreadwolf just grinned, and sheathed the sword again back in the staff. He'd just bought a staff, and it turned out to also be a sword!!! He walked out to the battle zone. Time to test his new staff.

    The blade cut cleanly through the boar, and Dreadwolf immediately spun and incanted a spell, a fireball racing toward the next boar. He grinned to himself. Remember--Don't die. At least for now, dead people can't log back in. He thought to himself. He stood up straight. "Level ten. Nice." He grinned. He looked around as he took in all of the sensations of the battlefield, the smoothness of the staff in his hand, the weight of the sword in his other hand, the scent of the grass and the boars, the trees in the distance, the sound of the boars in the backround.... He walked slowly back to town to meet up with Bane. He'd had enough of the area around the town. Next, he and Bane would go to the Forests...
