Chapter 88 Sam
House clean, groceries that Lawrence and Jack had delivered put away and a message left on the answering machine as well as a note saying that they would all be here tonight for the full moon. I was sexually frustrated, tense, agitated, and tired from the restless sleep. Thinking about the men I loved having sex with others of their kind during the full moon was not the best sleep aid. I hoped J.B. would come by so we could go out for another run. My muscles were sore, but not as bad as I thought. The massage Nickoli gave me last night worked amazingly.
Wondering around the house, thinking about Dmitri and Nickoli having sex with other very willing females, I was about to go mad. That was why it took me a few minutes to register the sound of the lawn mower and weed-wacker outside the house. Looking out the front window, I saw two men outside doing yard work. Normally I would not have put a second thought to it, but these two men were not Sydney's friends I had hired.
Curiosity getting the best of me I headed for the door to find out who they were and where were the teens I had hired. I knew I was not supposed to leave the house without escorts, but what could possibly happen? It was not as if they came to cut the grass before they took me. Just the thought made me chuckle.
Turning the handle of the front door, it would not budge. Using two hands I pulled and shook the door, ending up with the same result; nothing. It would not budge. A little irritated that the door was stuck I sauntered my way to the back door. Unlocking the door than turning both handles of the French doors, once again the doors would not budge. Now, I started to get worried. Racing up the stairs to my bedroom, those doors too would not open. "What the hell?" she mumbled, trying to keep the panic at bay.
Deciding to try the windows before the panic attack hit, I ran back downstairs to the window in my office that I could of sworn I left open this morning, but was closed up tight now. Pulling, pushing and cursing at the locked window I gave up and went to try the living room window. Panic setting in, starting to hyperventilate after the living room window would not budge I raced to a window in the dining room.
Halfway there I heard a click than a moment later music to my ears. "Sam?" The delectable voice of Mason rang through the house. Trying to skid to a stop at the sound of his voice, I turned midway, crashing into the wall before I could stop in my stocking feet against the newly polished wood floors.
"SAM!" Mason yelled after he heard the thump of my impact.
"Mason," I called out in relief as my body slammed into his as he ran around the corner.
Wrapping my arms around his neck, breathing heavy, my body trembling as I held on with all my might, "I'm so glad you're here. How did you get in? I could not get out. I tried every door and even some of the windows and I couldn't get out," I rambled.
"Shh, it's Ok. I used my key and what do you mean you couldn't get out?" he asked his voice tight and body tense.
Pulling back to see his face I began to explain, "Well I went to go out and see what happened to Sydney's friends, the ones I hired to do my lawn, and when I went to open the door, all the doors they wouldn't budge." I started to feel more relaxed now that Mason was here.
Mason's eyebrow cocked, "What do you mean you were trying to get out and finding out what happened to Sydney's friends?" His usual calm face was tight around the eyes and his jaw clenched.
I rolled her eyes and stepped back. I was not going to argue with someone while in their arms. "I know, I know, I am not supposed to go outside without an escort, but do you really believe someone would come cut my grass and then take me or whatever you people think might happen? And for your other question, those two cutting my grass are not the two I hired so I wanted to see if everything was all right. Not that it matters to me who cuts my grass."
As soon as the last syllable left my mouth Mason was gone running outside. I ran to follow and by the time I made it to the front door it was closed, and once again, I could not open it. Running to the front window, I saw Mason chase after the white panel van that was storming out of the driveway. This I could not deny; two strange men, and watching Mason chase down a van that refused to stop, this did have something to do with her; they were right.
Standing at the window watching Mason come up the stairs and walked right through the door with no effort at all. Meeting him in the foyer stunned that he had no problem with the door. Scared that there could really be people after me, and confused on not knowing what was happening. "Mason?" I said as he walked in the door.
Phone to his ear he ignored me and walked right past me to the living room. Pissed that he ignored me. I had every right to know what the hell was going on, I raised my voice, "Mason, what the..." He raised a finger in a hold on a second gesture. Not an overly patient person to begin with and being brushed off just pissed me off that much more. This was my house and everything that was happening I had the right to know and now. "Dammit Mason, you tell me right now what the hell is going on," I demanded, voice rose up a few notches.
He turned around at my tone with the phone to his ear, eyes glowing blue, face starting to distort and he was breathing heavy. I stumbled a step back at the sight and the anger that rolled off him. This was not my Mason, I knew deep down that he would never hurt me, but the look in his eyes that radiated violence scared the shit out of me. Eyes widening, stomach tightening, I was truly scared of the wolf he carried in him.
"Sam?" Mason's voice was more of a growl, "It's Ok," he added when he could see the terror in my eyes.
Raising both my hands, taking a step back when he took one towards me, I said with a shaky voice, "Don't. Stay right there." Then I turned and ran in the office, slamming the door and locking it. Walking backwards, never taking my eyes off the door, I made it the far side of the room. My back hitting the wall I slide down. My knees bent I wrapped my arms around my knees holding them tight to my body. It was then my body started to shake uncontrollably.
"Sam, honey, open the door. I'm sorry, I was angry and tonight's the full moon...Please let me in," Mason pleaded on the other side of the door, voice almost back to normal.
I sat there shaking my head, "Stupid, stupid, stupid. They're not human. I can never forget that again," I kept on repeating to myself. I could not forget again. My body shook so profusely my teeth began to chatter.
"FUCK!" Mason roared, before the outside door slammed shut. Before I could stop myself, I let out a small scream. Maybe not a scream but louder than a squeal of fear.
