Chapter 46 Jack

"Jack, are sure about this?" Nate asked, once Sam was in the house out of hearing range.

"With the stunt you three pulled jumping over balconies and throwing her around like a rag doll? This might keep her mind off that long enough until she's moved into her house and we tell her what we are and what she is," I explained.

"Speaking of..." Dmitri let trailed off knowing where he was going with it.

"Yes, we had to reschedule the meeting that was supposed to happen last week. I have said that the meeting is important, but I had to let Lawrence know what's going on and we both agree unless something major happens with Sam, Cassie's death and Katie's disappearance is more important." Raising my hand as the confrontation started. "I know everyone is on edge with the full moon tonight and we are going to lose a whole night of searching for Katie, but this is final," I said, looking at Dmitri then Mason. Those two seemed the most eager when it came to Sam.

"So you're not overly happy with our "stunt?" Dmitri asked.

I had to laughed. "Actually, I think it was a good idea. When it comes to telling her the truth, all these things will come back to her. She has probably noticed our strength, speed, jumping over balconies, and no one being around on the full moon. The things she feels, what she says and does even though to her it is a joke or figure of speech, her subconscious already knows. With all of this it will help her cope and adjust. Sam's a quick study; it won't take her long to accept what we are." Tilting my head slightly I added, "Let's head back inside she's coming."

DMITRI

I hoped he was right but for the first time I had some doubt in our Alpha's words. Sam was a strong pig headed woman and I could see her telling us all to go to hell after she found out. Knowing that she could not physically defend herself against us might be the deal breaker. She does not consider herself weak and she's not, but in her eyes, she would be. How much can a person endure before they finally snap? She had been through a lot and that included finding Cassie's body a week ago.

Watching Sam walk in the kitchen I could tell she was more concerned for what was going on with them then she did about herself. Squeezing Mady's hand lightly before she walked over and pulled up a chair between Jack and Nate and across from me. No one gave anything away from our body language except for the worry in Mady's eyes. We all just sat comfortably around the table.

Jack led the conversation, "The reason we wanted to talk to you is so you wouldn't feel out of the loop. Things have been somewhat tense lately and will probably get worse."

I watched as Sam sat there waiting for Jack to continue, not wanting to interrupt. As she looked around the table, I gave her a reassuring smile, which she gracefully returned.

"A friend of ours went missing Thursday night, as far as we can tell," Jack said. Her eyes widened with shock but still kept quiet.

I picked up where Jack left. "What has us worried is that girl you and Mason found, her name was Cassie, and the girl that is now missing were lovers. We still don't know where she went before she too went missing or what actually happened with her, and now with Katie missing..." I trailed off.

Terror screamed from her eyes, "Oh god," she gasped.

Nate continued, "So here's the thing, we don't want anyone by themselves and if you do have to be leave alone for some reason we want you to tell someone and call one of us when you arrived and when your leaving to come back home."

Sam didn't like the news at all. The terror that was in her eyes now turned to defiance. "Listen, I understand why you guys are being over cautious and I agree to a point, but telling you my every move...that doesn't fly with me so well," she stated.

I saw red and my mouth opened before I could think, "In such a hurry to run off with your precious Nickoli are we?" There was no holding back in the sarcasm and anger.

Her eyes narrowed, her anger matched his. Slamming her hands on the table and rising, "Listen, you overbearing prick," she said, between clenched teeth. "I see no ring on my finger, promised no one nothing and hell I haven't even fucked you. I will see and talk to whomever I wish" Sam stomped out of the room.

I abruptly stood up sending the chair, I was sitting on, into the cupboards with a loud bang, and then stormed out the back door. The last thing I heard was Jack telling Nate, "Leave him. He's a little tense right now." Then a minute later, Sam's car started up, engine racing as she drove away.

"FUCK!" I screamed soon after Sam's car was gone. I have always had a temper but what I just did inside. What I said to her and how I said it was inexcusable. She even warned me last night the next time I used that tone with her I would see her ass as she walked away. It was not the same tone and I didn't have the pleasure of seeing her ass, but overall it was just the same if not worse.

Yes, Katie's disappearance and the full moon tonight didn't help but knowing she was off to see him! That was what pushed me over the edge. Pacing back and forth, wearing a path in Nate's grass. I so was angry with myself, and the possibility of losing Sam grew at every step. With no thought on what I would say or do, I started for my car. I had to find her, needed to find her and talk to her.

"A piece of advice," Mason's voice came from the door. "Let her cool down man. You need to cool down. We both know her and she will be back. Everything will work out."

Letting his words sink in, I knew Mason was right. Tomorrow, after I ran and hunted with my pack tonight, I would go down on my hands and knees if needed and beg for her forgiveness.
