Chapter 26 Dmitri

"Fuck. Oh god. Sam baby, I am so sorry." I felt sick. Midway to a kneeling position in front of Sam, the basement door flew open, and I found myself knocked back five feet. Jumping up immediately ready to confront who ever just shoved me. Standing between me and Sam was Mason, on his balls of his feet ready to attack. "What the fuck are you doing?" I screamed, taking a step to the side to reach Sam.

The little shit moved to block me. "What did you do to her?" he growled with intent to harm.

Growling right back, my focus was now on the threat and not Sam. "Remember your place Mason." I would physically move his ass out of the way if he did not move in the next Two seconds.

By this time, Mady was beside Sam and Nate stood between myself and Mason. Watching Sam withering in pain tore my heart out. Still kneeling, clutching her injured arm to her body, her head was down and all I could see was the rise and fall of her chest as she continued to take deep breaths. It was agonizing to watch. Tearing me up inside that her pain was my fault. Almost on the verge of being sick from watching her, plus the fact my brothers would not allow me to pass had my mental state on shaky grounds. Just about ready to bull doze them both out of the way Sam lifted her head and that stopped me cold. Tears running down her ghost white face. The screams were not coming out of her mouth but her eyes. That seemed worse.

"What the fuck did you do to her?!" Mason's voice was getting louder.

"What?" Realizing now, he was trying to protector her from me. "Do you really think I meant to hurt her you moron?" My anger was back with vengeance. That my pack brother would think so low of me was even more of a slap in the face.

Nate jumped in the conversation before things escalated further. "It's not like that D, we heard a scream and Mason just jumped. No thinking at all in his part." Mason opened his mouth to protest, Nate just looked at him and it stopped the words dead before they came out. "Dmitri what happened man?" Nate asked.

"Fuck Nate, I don't know. We were down here practising her self-defence and on the last move when her elbow connected with my jaw, she went down screaming, holding her arm." Reliving that moment, I had to squeeze the tension from the back of my neck. I had to do something with my hands. Not being able to be near her never being able to touch her was making me go mad.

"You damn well know I would rather kill myself than hurt her! Hell, you both should know better then that." Giving Mason all my attention again. Waiting for him to decide the next step.

Mason relaxed a bit, once he stopped to listen to what was being said. "I know D, I know. I swear I heard Sam scream and I just saw red," he mumbled, through his hands as he rubbed them down his face.
