Chapter 9: Little Tantrums

A/n: Thank you to Shadowqueen667 for helping me with this chapter.

Third Person POV

Elsa sat in the council chamber, engrossed in a discussion on trade agreements. Meanwhile, a school tour filled the castle halls with laughter and excitement. Y/n wandered aimlessly, curious about the grand corridors. A few kids noticed him, whispering amongst themselves.

???: "That's Queen Elsa's kid," One said.

???: "No way," Another scoffed.

???: "She only adopted him because she felt sorry for him. She doesn't love him. She's probably sending him back soon," A third chimed in.

Their words stung, and Y/n's chest tightened. He overheard them while walking nearby, he triYes to get them to stop by approaching them. "Stop it," He said quietly, his voice trembling.

???: "Oh, what's the matter? Gonna cry?" one sneered.

Anna, passing by with Kai, caught sight of the group. They quietly approached, overhearing the cruel words. Before they could step in, Y/n shouted, "Leave me alone!" Tears streamed down his face as he bolted past them.

Anna: "Y/n!" She called, but he didn't stop.

Kai sighed. "I'll search the west wing."

Anna nodded, determination in her eyes.

Anna: "And I'll find Elsa."

The council meeting was in full swing when the doors creaked open. Elsa glanced up, surprised to see Anna slip in. Her sister's face was pale, her expression urgent.

Elsa "Anna?" She asked, her tone soft but puzzled.

Anna didn't speak. Instead, she held up a folded piece of paper. Elsa furrowed her brow but reached for it, carefully opening it under the table.

The note read: Y/n had an incident with some kids. They said terrible things. He's upset and ran off. We don't know where he is.

Elsa's heart sank. She immediately stood. "I'm sorry, councilmembers," she said, her voice steady despite her panic. "We'll need to adjourn for now. This meeting will resume later."

She didn't wait for their response, following Anna out into the corridor. "What exactly happened?" Elsa asked quietly as they walked briskly.

"Some kids cornered him," Anna explained. "Said awful things about the adoption. Kai and I overheard, but Y/n ran before we could help."

Elsa clenched her fists. "We'll find him. Now."

As Elsa and Anna headed for the door, one of the council members, Lord Halvard, cleared his throat. "Your Majesty," he said sharply, "perhaps this incident is a sign that motherhood is too much for you. Ruling a kingdom is demanding enough."

Elsa froze mid-step, slowly turning to face him. Her eyes were cold as ice, her voice low but firm. "Lord Halvard, I suggest you choose your words carefully."

He shrugged, unfazed. "I only mean that a queen's duty is to her kingdom. Maybe this... arrangement is distracting you from what truly matters."

Elsa's jaw clenched. "Y/n is my child," she said, her voice rising slightly. "No arrangement. No distraction. My responsibility to him is just as important as my responsibility to this kingdom."

Halvard smirked. "I only speak for the good of Arendelle-"

"You don't speak for me," Elsa interrupted sharply. "Or my family. And you'd do well to remember that."

Without another word, she swept out of the room, Anna following closely behind.

As Elsa exited the chamber, her focus was razor-sharp. "Anna," she said briskly, "find those children who were bullying Y/n. I want their names and everything they said to him. Kai, help her."

Anna blinked. "What are you planning?"

"They need to understand the consequences of their words," Elsa said, her tone icy. "No one talks to my son that way. No one."

Anna nodded, determined. "Got it. We'll handle it."

Kai followed, but not before muttering, "Those kids won't know what hit them."

Meanwhile, Elsa moved swiftly through the castle, her heart pounding. She called out as she searched each corridor. "Y/n! It's Mama! Where are you?"

Her voice echoed, but there was no reply. She paused, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "Think, Elsa. Where would he go?"

Then it hit her. The tower-his favorite spot. She climbed the spiral staircase, pushing open the door at the top.

There he was, curled up by the window, tears streaking his cheeks. "Y/n," she whispered, her heart breaking. "It's okay. I'm here."

That's what she would say if he was there but when she got there he wasn't there. She realized she was seeing things, her son wasn't here in the tower. She quickly left the tower and continue searching for her son.

TIMESKIP

Elsa searched the castle desperately, her voice growing more frantic. "Y/n! Please, answer me!"

She paused outside Anna's room, catching her breath. That's when she heard a faint sound-a sniffle, muffled and distant. Her eyes darted upward. "The attic," she realized.

Climbing the narrow staircase, she pushed open the attic door. The space was dim and cluttered, but then she saw him. Y/n was curled up in a dark corner behind a stack of boxes, his small frame trembling.

"Y/n," Elsa said softly, stepping closer.

He flinched, pressing further into the corner. "Go away!" he cried, his voice breaking. "You're gonna send me back to the orphanage!"

Elsa's heart shattered. She crouched down, keeping her distance. "Sweetheart, who told you that?" she asked gently.

"The kids," he whispered, tears streaking his cheeks. "They said you don't love me."

"That's not true," Elsa said firmly. "You are my son, and I love you more than anything. Please, let me hold you."

Y/n hesitated before slowly reaching for her, tears falling freely as she pulled him into her arms.

Elsa gently stroked Y/n's hair, trying to comfort him as he cried in her arms. "Y/n," she whispered, "why were you so scared of me? What happened?"

He pulled back slightly, his tear-streaked face red and full of pain. His voice cracked as he cried out, "They said you didn't love me! That you only adopted me because you felt bad! And... and that you're going to send me back to the orphanage!"

Elsa's breath hitched, her chest tightening as she saw the heartbreak in his eyes. "Oh, Y/n," she murmured, holding him close again. "I'm so, so sorry they said those things to you. They were wrong-completely wrong."

"But... what if they're right?" he choked out between sobs.

Elsa pulled back and cupped his face gently, looking directly into his tearful eyes. "Listen to me," she said firmly. "You are my son, and nothing will ever change that. I didn't adopt you out of pity. I adopted you because I love you, Y/n. I'll never send you away, not ever."

His tears kept falling, but he clung to her tightly. "Promise?"

"I promise," Elsa whispered, kissing his forehead.

As Y/n sobbed in her arms, Elsa noticed the air growing colder. Frost began creeping along the walls and floor, spreading outward with each wave of his anguish. She held him tighter, whispering, "It's okay, sweetheart. Let it out. I'm here."

But his cries only grew louder, and the ice thickened. Elsa spent hours rocking him gently, humming soft lullabies and assuring him over and over, "You're safe, my love. You're safe."

Eventually, his small body gave in to exhaustion. His breathing steadied as he fell asleep in her arms, his face still streaked with tears. Elsa carried him to her room, tucking him into her bed. She kissed his forehead, whispering, "Rest now, my precious boy."

Turning to the guards outside, she said, "Stay with him. Do not leave his side."

"Yes, Your Majesty," they replied.

Her expression hardened as she made her way to the throne room. Inside, the bullies stood with Anna and Kai. Elsa's icy glare froze them in place. "You've made a grave mistake," she said, her voice cold as winter. "Now, you will answer for it."

The tension in the throne room was thick as Elsa took her seat on the throne, her icy gaze sweeping over the children, their parents, Anna, and Kai. The bullies stood with their heads down, looking guilty but defiant, while their parents shifted uncomfortably.

Anna stepped forward, speaking with controlled anger. "These children cornered Y/n earlier, calling him an orphan and saying the queen only adopted him out of pity. They told him Elsa didn't love him and was going to send him back to the orphanage."

One of the children, a boy named Leif, shifted uncomfortably. "It wasn't like that, Your Majesty. We just-"

"No," Anna cut him off sharply. "You said terrible things, things that no child should ever hear, especially from others their age."

Elsa's voice was icy as she addressed them. "I trusted you all to show kindness and respect. Instead, you've shown cruelty to my son, my child, whom I love deeply."

The parents stepped forward, clearly embarrassed but defensive. "It's just kids being kids," one of the fathers muttered.

Elsa stood, her anger growing. "This is no minor mistake. You will all be held accountable. Apologies are the least of what's needed."

Y/n's pain had to be addressed, and Elsa wasn't backing down.

Elsa's expression hardened as she stood tall, her voice ringing through the room. "I do not tolerate this behavior, especially not inside my own home. My son was hurt, and this is not something to be taken lightly."

The parents of the children who had bullied Y/n looked uncomfortable but still tried to defend their kids. One of the mothers spoke up, her tone defensive. "It was just a harmless prank, Your Majesty. The children didn't mean any harm. They were just playing around."

Leif, the boy who had spoken earlier, nodded eagerly. "Yeah, we didn't think it would upset him so much. It was just a joke!"

Elsa's anger flared. She slammed her hand on the armrest of her throne. "That is not playing!" she shouted, her voice echoing off the walls. "A joke doesn't leave someone crying in pain! It's not harmless when it makes someone feel unloved and unwanted!"

The room went silent, the weight of her words hanging heavy. The parents exchanged uncomfortable glances, realizing how serious the situation was.

Anna stepped forward, her voice calm but firm. "You need to understand, this isn't just about a prank. It's about kindness, respect, and knowing where the line is. You crossed it."

Elsa's eyes never left the group. "I will not tolerate anyone making my child feel less than loved, especially not in my kingdom."
Elsa's gaze softened slightly, but her tone remained firm as she turned to the children. "Tell me," she began, her voice calm but heavy with emotion, "how would you feel if you didn't have the love of your parents? If you were in Y/n's position-alone in the orphanage, with no one to care for you, no one to love you?"

The children exchanged nervous glances, their earlier bravado faltering. Elsa leaned forward, her gaze intense. "Imagine the pain of thinking you were unwanted. How would you feel if someone said those things to you?"

Leif shifted uncomfortably, his eyes downcast. "I... I didn't mean to hurt him. I just thought it would be funny..."

Elsa sighed deeply, standing from her throne and walking slowly toward them. "Y/n doesn't deserve to feel that pain. No child does. But you made him feel that way today." She paused, her voice softening just enough for them to hear the sincerity. "What you said was cruel, and it cut deeper than you can imagine."

She turned to the parents, her voice hardening once more. "And you need to teach your children that cruelty-no matter how small they think it is-has consequences. It's time to learn kindness, true kindness."

The room was silent as the weight of her words settled in.

The room fell into an oppressive silence, the children shuffling their feet, not daring to meet Elsa's gaze. Elsa's eyes swept over them, her tone turning cold. "I want to know who started this. Who thought it was a good idea to hurt my son?"

None of the children spoke, each one avoiding her gaze, their heads hung in guilt. Elsa's patience began to wear thin. "I'm not asking again. One of you will speak up, or there will be consequences."

The room remained still. The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. Elsa's icy voice grew sharper. "I don't care who it was. I want the truth now."

Finally, one of the girls, a quieter one named Ingrid, shifted uneasily. She hesitated but then whispered, "It was Leif. He said it would be funny."

Leif's face turned pale, his eyes wide in shock. "What? No, I-"

Elsa didn't let him finish. Her eyes locked on him, unwavering.

"You thought it was funny to hurt someone's feelings? You thought it was funny to make a child believe they were unloved?"

Leif's mouth closed as he realized there was no escaping the truth. Elsa continued, "You will apologize to Y/n, and if this ever happens again, there will be more than words to answer for."

The throne room doors swung open, and Kristoff strode in, his face stern but calm. "Elsa," he said, nodding at her before turning to the parents and children. "I found out everything from the staff. I heard what was said to Y/n."

He stepped closer, his towering presence making the group shrink back slightly. "Let me ask you something," he said, addressing both the parents and kids. "How would you feel if you were an orphan? No family, no one to love you, no one to stand up for you. Can you even imagine how lonely and scary that is?"

The kids looked down, guilt written all over their faces. The parents shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to respond.

Kristoff continued, his tone softening. "I know you're good people. I know you want to raise your kids to be kind and decent. But today, they hurt someone—my nephew—and that's not okay."

He turned to the children. "You have parents who love you, who would do anything for you. Y/n didn't have that—until Elsa. So before you say something cruel again, think about what it would feel like to be in his shoes."

The room was silent, the weight of his words settling over them. "It's time to do better," Kristoff finished firmly. "For Y/n and for yourselves."

After deciding what the kids punishment was going to be, Elsa made them apologize to Y/n when he woke up. When he woke up so that the kids could apologize, he would it even look at them. It was obvious that he was scared of them specially from what they said to him.

Elsa had to cancel her meetings, so she called help Y/n heal from what happened today. Anna decided to fill in for her as the assistant Queen so that her sister could help her nephew heal up. But one thing everyone knows for sure, don't mess with the Queen's baby no matter what. Or else you're going to deal with mama polar bear.

To be continued...

I tried to do some editing to where I usually write my stories but with the way my friend helped me write this I couldn't. But thank you Shadowqueen667 for helping me with this chapter.
