You are sitting at the main control desk of the Mars mission control at SpaceX HQ. You are worried because Jaylyn was supposed to contact you.

"Hey, Lexi can you run a full diagnostic on the comms system?" You ask in case the problem is from mission control. She types the command into the computer. A minute later it's done.

"There is nothing sir," Lexi confirms your worst fear. There is something wrong with the base. The communication chime goes off.

"Jaylyn what's wrong?" you suddenly filled with hope.

"Is starship ready to launch yet?" Jaylyn responds. You can tell she is worried.

"The launch has been pushed back a week why?" You are confused.

"We've encountered a hostile life form and I don't want to risk the rest of the colonists until we can get the situation under control," Jaylyn explains.

"Joe?" Jaylyn remarks. You wish you had a camera feed.

"No, you are talking to the collective," The response is not good. You are frozen with fear because there is nothing you can do.

"What are you doing with Joe?"

"We needed a host and he just happened to be available," you hear the conversation. You are lucky that the second wave of people haven't left.

"And now I can change hosts," you hear a loud crash. Your heart starts racing.

"Now don't resist," The one quote you never want to hear. You can't hear anything else.

"Jaylyn what happened?" you ask.

"Sorry Hayden but Jaylyn is unconscious. She was attacked by Joe,"

"Who was infected by a life form," you complete his sentence.

"Yes that's right and I'll do my best to get it sorted Mars one out," you let out a loud sigh. You really wish there was more you can do.

"Hey, Lexi can you get me a transcript of this transmission?" You ask because you want Elon's opinion

"Yes I can," Five minutes later she has gotten you a printed copy of the transcript.

"Thank you," You snatch it out of her hand and you start running to Elon's office cubicle. Three minutes later you've almost made it but you stop short. There are NASA officials there. Dang it. You hope Elon hasn't spotted you but you are out of luck. You hide the transcript behind your back.

"Hayden do you have any news?" Elon asks as he gestures for you.

"Well I do but..." You trail off because if you say it in front of the officials it may jeopardize the mission.

"I'll have to tell you later," You recover. Hopefully, he doesn't pressure you to tell him right now.

"Is it bad news?" one of the officials ask. You glance at the floor. What you have to say could ruin the mission.

"I think so," you respond as you reveal the transcript. You hope that Jack and Jaylyn can get it under control.

"But Jack told me he has it under control," You hand the piece of paper to Elon.

"Thank you, Hayden," Elon responds. Thank goodness you are dismissed. You leave. Ten minutes later you are watching the pre-flight interviews that you conducted.

"What made chose the Mars mission?"

"Well I have no one left on earth and I thought it would be a new start for me," Jaylyn responds. She flashes a smile. Elon makes it to your desk and you close the video. You can tell he is mad.

"Can you tell me what is going on?" He slams the transcript on your desk.

"Umm no," you reply. You can't look your boss in the eye which means you can't provide answers. Normally you would be able to think of something but unless you can talk to Jaylyn you can't provide any answers. Elon gives a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

"We will work this out before the next wave,"

"I know boss," You confirm. Hopefully, you can.
