(The episode begins at the comic book shop from Ch1E5 of New Game. We see Viewtiful Joe rush out of the shop on his way to stop Sweet Tooth. Shortly after that, Gex exits the shop looking towards where Joe ran off to.)

Gex: Wonder what he’s in a hurry for? (Gex looks around at the city around him.) Ah, now for ol’ Gexy to take Manhattan! (Gex looks over to a street corner to see Professor Genki. A mother with two children quickly walk past him, not making eye contact.)

Genki: Much love for Genki! (The mother and children walk away.) No love for Genki? (We cut back to Gex.)

Gex: Yeesh! This is like a luau at Mel Blanc’s house. (Gex walks up to Genki.) Hey there, big guy. You’re in the wrong spot. Acme is selling weapons to catch Roadrunner down the block. (Genki stares at Gex.) What’s wrong, pal? Never seen a devilishly handsome talking gecko before?

Genki: Genki found you! (Genki takes out a large burlap sack and stuffs Gex into it before slinging it over his shoulders.) Another win for super murder cat!

Gex: Hey! What’s the big idea? You better let me go! I have a very specific set of skills, skills that… (Gex trails off as a blue aura envelops Genki and he takes flight. Citizens stare at Genki as he flies above the city.)

Genki: Weeeeeeee!

(We cut to an abandoned building as we see multiple minions (Whacked!) walking through the area. The camera moves further into the building as we see Van Tastic standing in front of a cracked mirror. His large mask is set next to him as he fixes up his shirt.)

Van: Where is Genki? He should be back by now! (He adjusts his shirt.) Easy now, Van. Watch that blood pressure. You have a show to host! (We cut to see Genki entering the building with the sack still over his shoulder. Van turns around to greet him.) Genki! What took you so long?

Genki: Genki found him! (Genki opens the sack and dumps Gex onto the ground.)

Gex: Hey! Easy on the landing there! (Gex turns to see all the minions in the building.) It seems the cat has brought me to Tim Burton’s newest flick. I’ll need help getting out of this one.

Van: Good work, Genki! Now… (Van holds out his hand.)

Gex: What? You think I’m gonna tip? I need to see the mint on my pillow before you get a cent out of me. (Genki holds out a hand and freezes Gex in place using his telekinesis.) Woah! (Genki then turns Gex upside down and begins shaking him. A remote control falls from Gex and into Van’s outstretched hand.)

Van: Yes! Perfect! (Van walks over to a folding table as Genki floats Gex over to a couple of minions who restrain him.)

Gex: Get your hands off of my remote, buddy! Such sophisticated technology shouldn’t be in the hands of you or the Disney mascot that follows you around.

Van: Quiet, gecko! This remote will finally let me return to stardom. A brand new game show is in the works for Van Tastic!

Gex: Game show? Has Alex Trebek’s influence finally gone too far?

Van: With this remote of yours, I can put my contestants into the game! I’ll be famous, world-renowned, a bigger celebrity than even Adam Sandler!

Gex: (Gasps.) You monster! Your hubris will cost you!

Van: And all I need is this. (Van holds up a Game & Watch console.) I feel a reboot coming on… (He laughs maniacally.)

(We cut to the present day. We see a large game show studio that hosts an impressive audience. Two podiums are set up on stage, and a sign above the stage says “Buzz!”.)

Cameraman: And… we’re rolling! (We see Buzz (Buzz!) walk onstage as he is greeted with applause by the audience.)

Buzz: Hello, and welcome back to…

Buzz/Audience: Buzz!

Buzz: And ladies and gentlemen, do we have a show for you tonight! Tonight is Celebrity Buzz! (The audience cheers.) We have two rising stars tonight competing for big prizes! So, let’s meet our contestants! (Buzz walks over to the left podium as Mettaton (Undertale) rolls onstage behind the podium. He waves at the crowd.)

Mettaton: Hello, darlings! It’s Mettaton!

Buzz: The renowned celebrity of the… Underground, is it? Mettaton!

Mettaton: So happy to be here and see my adoring fans!

Audience Member: I love you, Mettaton!

Mettaton: I love me too, darling! (The audience laughs. Buzz walks over to the other podium as Johnny Cage walks onstage.)

Buzz: The one and only Johnny Cage, ladies and gentlemen!

Cage: Earthrealm’s savior has arrived! (Cage shoots finger guns at the audience as they cheer.)

Buzz: Let me just say, Mr. Cage, it is an honor to have such a big star on the show tonight.

Cage: Buzz, please, Mr. Cage is my father. Just call me Johnny. (Buzz returns to center stage and addresses the audience.)

Buzz: Now, without further ado, let’s begin! It’s time for…! (The lights in the studio suddenly turn off as we hear Van’s voice over a loudspeaker.)

Van: Oh, I don’t think so. (Suddenly, minions rush into the studio, causing screams from audience members. A couple minions scare away the camera operators and start controlling the cameras themselves. We cut back to Cage.)

Cage: D*mn. Can’t go one week without beating the sh*t out of demons. (Cage runs towards the edge of the stage and jumps off, preparing a punch. While in midair, he suddenly freezes as a blue aura surrounds him. The camera pans to see Genki using his telekinesis on Cage.)

Genki: Nuh uh uh!

Cage: What the f*ck is that thing? (Genki slams Cage onto the ground. We then see Van jump onstage as minions grab Buzz and Mettaton. Van is now wearing his mask.)

Van: Welcome, one and all, to Whacked 2.0! A brand new video game game show for the ages! (A large projector descends behind Van as Cage woozily gets up, Genki holds him in telekinesis again.) And I think we have our first contestant. Tell me, son, what’s your name? (Cage grimaces at Van.)

Cage: Were your mom and your aunt, like, the same person? (A frown crosses Van’s face.)

Genki: TV man says his name is Johnny Cage. (Van perks up.)

Van: Cage, huh? Any relation to Nicolas? (Van laughs at his own joke.) No, but seriously, folks. In here… (Van holds up the Game & Watch.) lies a gauntlet of challenges for our good friend Mr. Cage to complete since he seemed so eager to compete. Beating them all will reveal big prizes! Failing to complete them… well… let’s hope you do well. (Van holds up the remote control and points it at the Game & Watch.) Toodle-oo!

Cage: Wait what?! (Van presses a button on the remote as a portal opens leading into the Game & Watch. The portal sucks both Cage and Genki inside.) Ohhhhhhhh sh*t!

(We cut to a shop on the street with a line of televisions in the window, all of them showing the broadcast from the game show studio. The camera pans around to see B.J. watching the televisions.)

B.J.: Raiden! Zero! (Raiden and Zero join B.J. at the window.)

Zero: What’s the matter?

B.J.: We’ve got trouble. Hostage situation with what seem to be… demons.

Raiden: Where’s this being broadcast? (We see a small group of people burst out of a building across the street screaming. Massive posters of Buzz are seen on the building advertising his show. Raiden unsheathes his katana.) Time for Jack to let ‘er rip. (The heroes run towards the studio building.)

(We cut to Flat Zone inside of the Game & Watch, full of flat buildings and scenery. Mr. Game & Watch walks through the area in his frame-by-frame walking style. He then stands still and looks left and right, a beep following each head turn. We then hear Cage screaming as Mr. G&W opens his mouth and raises his arms as he’s startled. Cage falls face first in front of Mr. G&W as Mr. G&W flies back.)

Cage: Ugh… sh*t. (Cage slowly raises his head as Mr. G&W walks over to him and studies him.) What are you supposed to be? (Mr. G&W helps Cage to his feet as he looks around.) This isn’t like any game show I’ve seen before. (We hear Genki’s voice as Cage and Mr. G&W look above them where Genki is flying.)

Genki: Welcome to Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax! (The logo appears onscreen before fading out.)

Cage: What kind of name is that? Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

Mr. G&W: Beep! (We cut to Genki as he flies to the top of a pile of Flat Zone-styled girders that are constructed in the same style of 25M from Donkey Kong.)

Genki: Your first challenge is to get to the top! (He uses his telekinesis to hold up a group of Flat Zone barrels.) Good luck! (He starts rolling the barrels down the girders.)

Cage: Just gotta get to the top, huh? (He looks at Mr. G&W.) Ready for this, Flat Top? (Mr. G&W nods and beeps.) Just follow my lead. (They both run up the first girder as a barrel rolls down. A green aura surrounds Cage as he moves faster and jumps over the barrel. It rolls towards Mr. G&W, who pulls out a hammer to destroy the barrel.)

Genki: Genki loves murder! (Cage jumps up to the next girder and helps Mr. G&W up. Another barrel rolls towards them as Cage shoots a force ball at it to destroy it.)

Cage: Oh yeah! (Mr. G&W leads the charge as he and Cage jump over the next barrel. Mr. G&W jumps off the edge of the girder and summons two firemen (Game & Watch) holding a trampoline, which propels him two girders up. Cage uses the trampoline too and catches up. They both jump up to the next girder as Cage speeds up and kicks another barrel away.)

Genki: No no no! (They reach the last girder that Genki is on.)

Cage: Gotcha now, kitty cat!

Genki: Onto round 2! (Genki uses his telekinesis to throw them both off of the girders.)

Cage: Not again! (We return to the studio as we see what’s happening in Flat Zone projected on a projection screen behind Van.)

Van: Looks like our contestants have made it past the first round! Let’s turn up the heat, shall we?

(We cut to a different part of the studio as we see Raiden, Zero, and B.J. sneaking through the area, all holding weapons at the ready.)

Zero: Keep an eye out. We don’t know what we’re dealing with here. They reach a doorway to a hallway as they hide behind its corner. B.J. jumps out from the corner holding his pistol out.)

B.J.: All clear. (Our heroes continue sneaking down the hall as they pass a closed door. Muffled screams are heard inside.) Did you hear that?

Raiden: Yeah… (Raiden puts his hand on the doorknob. He quickly opens the door and readies his katana. The camera cuts to see Gex inside the room, which is a supply closet. Gex is tied up and gagged and screams louder as he sees Raiden.) What the hell? (B.J. takes out a knife and cuts Gex loose. Gex takes the gag off.)

Gex: About time someone got me out of there. (He turns to Raiden.) Gotta say, wasn’t expecting help from Schwarzenegger. (Gex does an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression.) Get to the choppa! Augh!

Zero: Who are you supposed to be?

Gex: What? You don’t recognize ol’ Gexy? Gex the grand? Double 0 Gex? Gexzilla? (They all stare blankly at him.) Guess not. Anyways, some washed-up looney named Van Tastic took my remote for his new game show. Who knows what chaos he’s caused with it.

B.J.: Hostage situation.

Zero: And some sort of bizarre… virtual reality experiment.

Gex: Sounds bad. (Gex walks out of the room.) Lucky for you guys, I’m skilled in Tail Fu! (He strikes a karate pose.) Hi-yah! (He goes back to normal.) So let’s turn this Van Tastic into Van tragic. (Gex runs off.)

Raiden: Come on. (The other three heroes run after Gex.)

(We cut back to Cage and Mr. G&W as they walk through Flat Zone.)

Cage: I swear to God, I’m losing it. Can’t someone, anyone, explain to me what the hell is going on?

Mr. G&W: Beep!

Cage: I appreciate the thought, but I think there’s a language barrier between us. (Suddenly, Flat Zone-styled smoke wafts into frame.) Does it smell like smoke to you? (They look over to see a Flat Zone building on fire with Genki on top of it. Citizens (Game & Watch) wave out the windows, terrified. Mr. G&W raises his hands to his head in fear before sprinting over, with Cage right behind. As they reach the building, Genki speaks to them.)

Genki: Let’s play Save the Innocents! And you better hurry, fire travels fast! (Mr. G&W pulls out a trampoline and holds onto one side. Cage quickly grabs the other side.)

Cage: Don’t worry, Rascal Flatts. I’ve got your back. (Citizens begin jumping out of the building as Cage and Mr. G&W run around catching them with the trampoline. We see them run around and catch three with relative ease. We then cut to Genki pulling out an RPG.)

Genki: Genki made it too easy. Time for super murder cat! (Genki fires the RPG. Cage looks up and sees it coming towards him and Mr. G&W.)

Cage: Look out! (Cage uses his enhanced speed to tackle Mr. G&W out of the way as the missile explodes nearby on the ground. We see multiple citizens jump out of the building while Cage and Mr. G&W are away from the trampoline.)

Mr. G&W: Beep! (He quickly pulls out a manhole and uses it to flip Cage into the air. He catches the remaining citizens and lands safely on the ground.)

Cage: Gotcha! (The citizens all walk away as Mr. G&W walks up to Cage and jumps for joy.)

(We cut back to the studio as Van Tastic malds under his mask while looking at the screen.)

Van: What?! How did they… grrrrr… (Van slams his fist onto a podium next to him before quickly straightening up.) Well, folks, it seems like our contestant has beaten round 2, but one more challenge awaits him. Don’t touch that dial! You won’t wanna miss- (He’s interrupted as Gex, Raiden, Zero, and B.J. burst into the studio all ready to fight.)

Gex: It’s tail time! (A group of four minions run up to our heroes to try and stop them, but Raiden and Zero both slash away two each.)

Zero: These guys aren’t much of a threat. (We cut back to Van.)

Van: Uh… huh… (Gex jumps onstage to confront him.)

Gex: Well, Vanny, I’ll be taking my remote now if you’d be so kind.

Van: Your… your remote? (He pauses before pointing it at the Game & Watch.) Of course! The remote! (He presses a button as the portal opens again. We cut back to Flat Zone as Genki confronts Cage and Mr. G&W.)

Genki: Time for round 3! (The portal opens above them.) Huh? (Cage, Mr. G&W, and Genki are all pulled into the portal.)

Cage: Not agaaaiiin! (All three of them are shot out onto the studio stage. Our other heroes join Cage and Mr. G&W. We cut to Genki getting up and standing beside Van.)

Van: Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the final round of our little show. (Suddenly, the Octopus (Game & Watch) emerges from the portal, towering above our heroes. The portal disappears.) You’ve all been a lovely audience. (The audience and minions scream and run out of the room. Buzz and Mettaton follow, leaving only our six heroes.)

Gex: This is like seafood night at Tom Hanks’ house.

Cage: (Striking a pose.) Let’s get dirty! (Cage and Raiden sprint towards Genki. Raiden leaps at Genki, but Genki holds him in place. Cage runs up and punches Genki in the head, knocking him away.)

Genki: Don’t hurt my head! (We cut to Zero running around the Octopus as it suddenly reaches out and grabs him with one of its tentacles.)

Zero: Gah! (We cut to B.J. shooting at it, which makes it angry.)

B.J.: Are my bullets doing a d*mn thing? (The Octopus hits B.J. back with a tentacle as he flies back into the audience seating.) Augh! (We cut back to Zero who frees his arm and slices the Octopus’ tentacle off with his Z-saber. Zero lands on the ground. We cut to Gex as he slaps Van away with his tail.)

Gex: Oh yeah, it’s tail time! (Van takes off his mask and throws it at Gex, which knocks him off of the stage.) Oof!

Van: Better turn tail and run, gecko! (Mr. G&W runs up and hits Van on the head with a frying pan.) Ouch! Why you-! (Gex jumps back into action and kicks Van away. We cut back to Cage as he throws a plasmic bolt at Genki which hits him.)

Genki: You will know pain! (Genki quickly flies at Cage and punches him away. Raiden then jumps in and slashes at Genki.) You make Genki angry! (Genki uses his telekinesis to slam Raiden against the ceiling. Cage then speeds back in with his enhanced movement and flipkicks Genki onto his back.)

Cage: You just got caged!

Genki: Ugh… (The camera pans up to see Raiden hanging onto the ceiling. He jumps down and slices his katana directly into Genki’s heart.)

Raiden: I will show no mercy. (Blood pools out from Genki as he dies. We cut back to Gex as Van swings a boom mic into him.)

Gex: This must be what it’s like to work on a Michael Bay flick. (Van approaches Gex menacingly with the boom mic. Suddenly, Mr. G&W runs in and uses his hammer on Van while holding up the number 9. A loud hit noise is heard as Van is shot through the wall of the building into the sky.)

Van: I’ll be back! I always come baaaaaaaaack! (A glint is seen in the sky as he disappears. We cut back to see Mr. G&W breathe a visual sigh of relief. We then cut to B.J. shooting at the Octopus as Zero slashes another one of its tentacles off. The Octopus then grabs Zero and slams him against the ground.)

Zero: This thing sure is resilient… (B.J. continues to shoot as he watches the Octopus grow its tentacles back.)

B.J.: What the f*ck is this thing made out of? (We cut back to Gex on the ground as he sees his remote controller lying where Van was.)

Gex: Ooh! What do we have here? (Gex grabs the remote control and points it at the Game & Watch underneath the Octopus.) Time for a little deus Gex machina. (He presses a button as the portal returns. Beads of sweat appear on the Octopus’ face as it sinks back into the Game & Watch. When it finally sinks into it, the Game & Watch cracks and breaks into two.) And voila! (Our heroes approach the broken Game & Watch as Mr. G&W hangs his head low. Cage takes a knee to comfort him.)

Cage: Don’t worry, flat friend. We’ll get you a way back in there. (Mr. G&W looks at Cage and hugs him.)

Zero: We all still need to find a way back home.

Gex: Well, I hope you don’t mind a few extras coming along.

Raiden: Excuse me?

Gex: (Referring to Cage.) Van Damme and his little friend here need to get a way back into that little device and I’m an ultra powerful secret agent. You’re gonna need me. (He turns to everyone.) Whaddya say, gang? Deal or no deal? (Everyone is silent for a moment. B.J. turns to Raiden and nods.)

Raiden: Fine, just don’t get in the way.

Cage: (To Raiden.) Lead the way, Terminator.

Gex: That’s what I said!

Zero: (Annoyed.) This is gonna be a long trip back home. (Our heroes all begin to leave the room as the camera pans towards the broken Game & Watch. Mr. G&W then walks back and scoops up the broken pieces as the screen changes to TV static. It then slowly fades to black.)
