Alone Together.

Disclaimer: I don't own Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart. I don't own the picture (cover). Or the song.

(I am mad there aren't Clank and Kit fics so here I am doing one.)

(Hope you enjoy.)

Clank often appreciated Ratchet in his life.

Without him, he wouldn't be the hero he is today. Probably no one would pay attention.

Without him, they aren't Ratchet & Clank.

Two Lone rangers coming together. Being there whenever push came to shove, a feeling of belonging driving in sometime.

They are a team.

***

Kit often felt alone in life.

Savali came with perks of knowledge, learning to be the best guardian. Pros outweighing the cons usually.

But still, there are negatives.

Loneliness beginning as the most familiar.

When you become accustomed to a certain style, routine sets so you don't notice the different if anything breaks you out the day.

Unfortunately, the day Ratchet arrived is the day Kit realised how alone she truly seemed.

It's also the day she met a counterpart and friends who she considered family.

There are perks.

***

Both often are glad of events.

Wihout the infamous Rift apart as creature started calling the it, Clank and Kit would only be knocked as solos.

Without partners. Friends. Family.

Alone.

It's a topic both can't be accustomed to.

Clank and Kit now are together.

Like finding someone like you.

Relatability at its finest.

Clank wondered around the building Ratchet chose them all to sleep in. Sometimes he'd visit Rivet in her dimension and her the same.

Clank thought of them possibly a couple.

His suspicious turned true.

Knock. Knock.

Clank softly knocked on the door. Hearing no sound, he gently opened the the thing so he could see if Ratchet was alright.

Purring was the first thing he heard. Tilting his head, Clank opened the door further letting light in so he saw better.

Ratchet and Rivet slept in the same bed.

The room was about ten feet in length, stretching in length so multiples can be in it. A black colour adorning the walls.

Dark blue carpet decorated the floors all over along with a brown dresser and desk. A bed fitted in the corner as two creatures slept.

Ratchet laid curled half top on Rivet, who didn't seemed not minding to be trapped under his grip.

She had one arm wrapped around his waist, whilst the other supported her one head to stay in the pillow. Their legs tangled together in a way that both trapped and made them a sight to the be seen.

Two creature, the last of their kind.

Sleeping peacefully.

It rarely happened, if ever for any of them.

"Clank?"

The mentioned swiftly turned around.

He scanned the area out of instinct. Years of enemy's attacking didn't go unnoticed. There wasn't any bad guys to see.

"Kit?"

A short, yellow and black robot with rounded features and blue optics that change to red when she is on duty. She had two orange light bulbs on the top of her head.

"Hello."

Kit smiled wearily. Holding out a hand, silently inviting Clank to come with. Leaving the lovers in place.

Clank accepted and followed.

***

Kit led him to the roof.

The weather decided to be peaceful tonight.

Stars shined bright. A dark blue sky reigned everywhere. Kit looked up at the view.

"It's beautiful."

She sat, hands on knees. Clank stared somewhat uncomfortably. She shared no hints of wanting to be joined.

So he opted to stay stood.

"It is."

She spared him a quick glance. Chuckling softly, Kit's voice turned soft.

"You joining?"

Clank unexpectedly flinched. He was used to accompanying Ratchet when needed, not anyone else.

...He still opted to obey.

Slowly settling down next to Kit, he spared a quick state, Kit's eyes catching his. It lasted longer than necessary.

Not that either stopped looking.

Clank quickly turned away, metaphorically blushing. Kit chuckled again.

"You are cute."

Once again, that metaphorical blush came.

"Uh, thanks."

"Welcome."

Silence reigned for the moment. The two sitting comfortably near each other's presence. Content to be there.

"You ever think of what happens?"

Clank hummed.

"I'd be in my own. You would to."

He didn't see Kit's flinch at the thought of losing friends again. She can't bear it.

"It won't happen. It can't."

A hint of possessiveness entered her tone. Clank shivered as his stomach dropped.

He didn't like hints of evilness.

"You are mine."

Kit suddenly was in Clank's vision. Optics flaring red, she pushed him into a corner, squeezing his wrists as through it hurt.

And it did.

"Kit!"

Her eyes snapped back to their regular colours. Realising what happened, she immediately retreated further away.

"I'm so sorry! Don't send me back."

She had metaphorical tears running down.

"I can't be alone."

Clank quickly scooped Kit up in a hug. Pulling the robot close, he hushed the shorter bot into calming down.

Eventually, it worked.

"We aren't sending you back." Clank told her gently like she was a child. "I promise, we aren't sending you back. We won't be alone."

Some of his own desperation escaped.

Clank held the same fears. That Ratchet would get tired of him someday and throw him out like useless junk.

He couldn't bear that thought.

It's why he stuck so close.

Cherishing the memories until the fear may come true. After all they've been through, fear inevitably starts to take over.

Clank just never told anyone.

Kit leaned into his touch. Eyes opening, Clank's thumb wiping away invisible tears. She smiled in happiness.

"You won't leave?"

Clank smiled back. He chuckled his usual laugh. It echoed on the roof.

"No, we aren't leaving."

She beamed, hugging Clank close again. He let the robot indulge herself. He'd never really been one for physical contact.

But Clank would be there for friends.

"Hey." A voice called out. "You two okay?"

Ratchet and Rivet stood a few feet behind the two little bots. A little sleepy, subconsciously holding hands.

They'd separated to pick up the little bots.

"Yep." Kit sighed, leaning back. "Alright. You aren't leaving, so it's okay."

Rivet gave Clank a confused look. He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, silently promising the explain later.

Ratchet let Clank sit on his lap. He held the hot gently by the shoulders, balancing him from falling.

"You two seemed to have a good time."

Kit buried her face into Rivet's neck. She gave a heart laugh, shooting Ratchet an amused look. She could tell Kit was blushing.

"Seems to be embarrassed. Poor thing."

Kit huffed in response, drawing another laugh.

"Riveeeettttttttt."

She whined. Kit had long become used to having people around, becoming more comfortable to be her true self.

More childlike than expected. No one complained.

"Heh, like you buddy. Your mine."

The four were possessive of one another. When you spend life alone, you don't want to lose what you get later.

Like Ratchet over Clank-

"Like you, Kit. Mine."

-And Rivet over Kit.

Over each other?

The way Ratchet sat near Rivet. Searching around so no one takes her away from him.

They're all possessive in one way or another.

Not Like any of them minded.

They're still friends in the end.
