It was the day of JJ and Nicks first official Dance exam. They started early as they needed a lot of time to prepare for it as they had to learn a different dance for each. JJ was currently sat in the library/study room trying to distract herself with some English revision. However she was pulled out of her thought by Josh bursting into the room.
"JJ, you need to come – it's Nick" Josh said as he burst through the door of the library, out of breath as he had clearly been running.
"What's going on?" JJ asked, standing up from her computer.
"I don't know...all I know is he's currently squaring up some kid from the other side of year 11" Josh explained, as the year group was split up into 2 sides. JJ followed Josh down the stairs and corridor. She arrived just as Tom did. Tom knew that JJ could help settle the situation.
"Nick..." JJ called, grabbing his wrist as Nick had the guy pinned against the wall.
"Nick, look at me. Look at me..." JJ encouraged, causing Nick to turn to face her.
"Walk away" She said seriously. Nick hesitated.
"Let's walk away" She encouraged again this time louder, pulling his arm away. Nick slowly, backed up. He glared at the other guy as JJ, placed her hand on his chest, slowly pushing him away. Nick turned around and let JJ lead him away.
"My classroom" Tom told JJ.
"Yep" JJ replied, leading Nick off down the corridor, as Tom stayed to deal with the other kid and try to find out what had happened.
"Right, you need to calm down" JJ told Nick as the shut the classroom door behind them. Nick nodded and sat down at a table and put his head in his arms.
"You know...your bloody lucky! If you had actually hit him, we wouldn't be taking this exam later today!" JJ said annoyed.
"I know...I'm sorry" Nick apologised, as Tom walked inside the room.
"You're lucky. Jason is taking full blame for the situation because of how many people saw it. What actually happened?" Tom asked, wanting to hear it from Nick himself.
"He threw his ball at me and then pushed me into the wall. He then muttered something about JJ and I saw red" Nick admitted.
"But I'm really sorry" Nick added.
"I know...I've already spoken to Mr Byrne. Because of what day it is, he's letting you off. No you 2 best go get ready. I'll see you down there" Tom smiled, as he had said he would wait outside the hall with JJ. JJ smiled and walked off with Nick to get changed into their dance outfits.

30 tense minutes later, they were stood waiting outside of the hall. They were last to go which was always worst as they had the longest wait. Finally it was their time. The previous pair left the hall and after a brief talk with their class mates, they walked off.
"Right you ready?" Nick asked JJ as they nervously started to warm up outside the hall.
"Uh-huh" JJ nodded.
"Nervous?" Tom asked the pair as he walked down the corridor.
"Little bit..." JJ said seriously.
"You'll do great. You've got this" He said to the pair.
"Thanks sir" Nick said.
"Thanks Tom" JJ smiled. Right after, they were called into the hall by the examiner. JJ smiled at Nick before they walked inside the hall. They went and got into their starting positions. They both took a steady breath as the music started playing. Counting the beat and thinking about the moves in their heads, JJ and Nick, flawlessly danced their routine. They were dancing it the best they ever had.

As the song came to an end, JJ and Nick gracefully finished their routine. Once the music stopped, they stood up and caught their breaths. They smiled at each other and they were given the all clear to leave the hall. The second they got outside, JJ jumped into Nicks arms.
"We actually did it! That was the best we've ever done it!" JJ squealed happily, as Nick spun her around.
"How'd it go?" Chris asked as he walked down the corridor with Tom as it was now the end of the day.
"Really well. JJ smashed it" Nick said proudly.
"He did great as well...that's the best we've ever done that routine" JJ exclaimed happily.
"Well done. 1 down, 2 more to go" Tom said.
"Thanks" JJ smiled, giving him a hug.
"We better go get changed" Nick said. JJ nodded and walked off down the corridor with him hand in hand. Today was one step closer to the finish line.
