Chapter 45

When Black Lightning and Lightning landed in front of the cabin, Lightning couldn't but chuckle at the sound of her sister's motorcycle pulling up.

"Run into traffic sis?" Lighting asked as Thunder got off her bike.

"Might I remind you that unlike you two, I can't fly, which I find very unfair by the way." Thunder said.

"Hey, if it were up to me, neither of you would be metas at all, so consider yourselves lucky you have powers at all." Black Lightning said.

"Enough. Okay you three what do you see?" Gambi asked over the comms, returning their attention to the mission at hand.

"It looks like some kind of safehouse. Definitely not ASA." Thunder said.

"What should we do?" Lightning asked.

"Well, since I imagine that anyone who's still in there won't open the door for us, Thunder, care to do it yourself?" Black Lightning asked.

"With pleasure." Thunder said as she walked up to the door of the cabin and took a deep breath and slammed her fist, directly into the wall, only for, to her shock, it didn't do anything but actually hurt her hand.

"What the hell?" Thunder asked as she shook her hand to try to get rid of the pain.

"You okay?" Black Lightning asked.

"The whole wooden cabin thing is just a cover. There's some kind of metal past it." Thunder said.

"Still, I thought your powers allowed you to break through metals." Lightning asked.

"So did I. But whatever this thing is, it's too tough for me to punch through." Thunder said.

"So we'll have to find another way in." Black Lightning said.

"I think I might be able to get in." Lightning said.

"What do you mean?" Black Lightning said.

"When I was training with Perenna, she helped discover what's probably the most impressive aspect of all my powers. She called it the storm." Lightning said.

"So?" Thunder asked, but Gambi caught on.

"Of course. Jeff, Anissa, listen. When Jen goes storm, she generates an electrical storm so strong that she's essentially sentient lightning and if she concentrates hard enough, she's actually able to become a current of electrical energy, which would in turn allow her to pass through the walls." Gambi said.

"You think you're up for that?" Black Lightning asked her.

"I think I have to try." Lightning said as she took a deep breath and did her best to focus as her eyes glowed and soon the rest of her body did as well as electricity emanated from her and to her father and sister's amazement, they watched Lightning walk right through the solid metal wall.

"Okay, I think she got the best powers. Can you do that?" Thunder asked her father.

"No. Like your mother said, I'm a battery, but Jen is basically a nuclear reactor." Black Lightning said, right as the door opened and Lightning emerged.

"If you guys are done complimenting me, come on in. I think you should see this." Lightning said as she let them in.

"Well, what do you think?" Thunder asked her father as they searched the cabin.

"I think this place has been in use for awhile. It's not a safe house for the Markovians, this all looks American made." Black Lightning said.

"It also looks like they left in a rush, since it looks like a lot of them were in the middle of something before they left, whoever they were." Lightning said, indicating to the still left out card game and beer bottles on one of the tables.

"Gambi, think you can pull a fingerprint from any of this?" Black Lightning asked.

"I'll try." Gambi said as he used the cameras in Black Lightning's goggles to scan the bottles and sure enough, he found a fingerprint, which he then ran through the database and was surprised by what he found.

"I can't believe he'd actually do it." Gambi said.

"What are you talking about?" Thunder asked.

"That print I pulled off one of the beer bottles using your father's goggles matched that of one former Commander Carson Williams." Gambi said.

"That bastard. He went on and on about serving his country only to betray it." Black Lightning said.

"I say we track him down and light his ass up right now." Lightning said.

"Great plan except we have no idea where in Markovia he is." Black Lightning said.

"We'll find him and make him stand trial for every single one of his crimes." Thunder said and her father and sister nodded in agreement as they continued searching the cabin for any clues about who put Williams and his men up here.
