Three new friends...sort of

After our 'fun' little hangout, Mason and I clambered down the tree and walked back into the school. We had to move slowly however, due to the guards. Although that wasn't really a problem since they were all falling asleep. Huge commandos falling asleep on the job. Terrible examples.

When we got inside, it was already dinner time. I could hear everyone in the cafeteria. I'm not in the mood for the expired slush they serve, but it's food and I'm starving.

"Want to sit with some of my friends?" Mason asked. Yes! I'm not eating alone.

"U-Um yeah, sure!" I said a little too loudly.

She let out a small laugh, "Okay."

I feel like I'm floating whenever I'm around her. I need to be on the ground. What is wrong with me? Do other people feel like this or is it just me?

Yeah it's definitely just me. Only a crazy person would feel like this. I must be going crazy.

In the cafeteria, Mason guided me to a table in the corner. A small group of people were chatting there. Two boys and one girl.

"No way! Tony Stark is way cooler than Ant Man. He's the best!" one of the boys said.

"No, Thor is better. He's strong and he's a king!" another boy said.

The girl scoffed, "You're both wrong. We all know Cap is the best one. He's the leader."

"That's because you're in love with Chris Evans," one of the boys said in a lovey voice.

"Shut up Ethan," the girl said.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Mason said. "This is Aurora, and she'll be sitting with us today."

The boys' jaws dropped.

"No way. The Aurora Hale! Oh my gosh, it's a true honor to be in your presence!" the girl said. Something about the tone of her voice made that it sound anything but true.

"Wow! This is so cool! I-I'm Ethan," one of the boys said, holding out his hand. I shook it timidly.

"Hi, nice to meet you."

"And this is Aiden," Ethan gestured to the other boy. Aiden waved shyly, "Hi."

"I'm gonna grab a plate. Want me to bring you one?" Mason asked me.

"Sure, thanks."

She gave me a little smile, and walked off.

"So, how's your stay going?" the girl asked. "I'm Kelsea by the way."

"It's going great," I tried to hide my annoyance. I'm pretty sure everyone knows about what happened. How could she ask that? I literally almost died during my time here!

Then again, everyone almost dies here so I'll give her that. But, there's something about her behavior that makes me not like her at all.

"So...what do you like to do? Like, shooting tin cans outside or hacking into the school cameras?" Ethan asked.

Geez, does everyone think I'm like my sister?

"U-Um no, I don't do those things. I mainly like to read and play games."

"Really? Us too!" Ethan exclaimed. "We have game nights every Thursday at Aiden's room. You should come next time."

"She doesn't have time for that, Ethan. She's too busy blowing up classrooms," Kelsea said.

Okay, I see how it is.

"Well, maybe whenever you get a chance," Ethan said. "What games do you like?"

"Uno, hide and seek, Call of Duty."

"What? No way! Dude, she plays call of duty!" Ethan said nudging Aiden.

"Y-Yeah. Cool," he said. He seems shy.

"Which one?" Ethan asked.

"Infinite Warfare is my favorite," I told him. "You know, there's actually robot named Ethan in the game."

"Yeah, I know. It's pretty awesome!" Ethan said. "Imagine if I were a robot. I would have all these cool weapons and stuff."

"You also wouldn't be able to eat," Aiden said.

"Fine by me! I'd rather starve than eat last week's mud."

"Mud?" I asked, confused.

"It's what we call the lunch here. You know, cause it looks like mud," Aiden said, not so shy anymore.

"Oh. Yeah, makes sense."

"Order up! One tray of mud for you, and one for me," Mason said, coming around the table with two trays. The food does look like mud. Smells like it too.

"Ugh, I can't believe you're actually eating that," Kelsea said.

"It'll have to do. Better than eating nothing," Mason said, shoving a spoonful of mud into her mouth. Kelsea cringed.

"Ew," was all she said.

After lunch, we went about our regular schedules. Except for Bomb Defusal 101 of course. That room was still under construction.

At the end of the day, I walked back to my room. It's been a long day, but I think it went well for the most part. I made three new friends. Well, maybe two. I'm not too sure about Kelsea. She's mean.

Someone knocked on my door. I sighed, not wanting to get up from my cot. Even though it feels like a cold slab of stone.

I opened it, and was a little surprised at the person standing there.

"Aiden?" I asked.

"Y-Yeah. It's me," he said. "Hey listen, I just wanted to apologize for my sister. I know she can be a little rude at times, but she's really a good person. She's just intimidated by you, that's all."

It took me a moment to figure out what he just said.

"Kelsea is your sister?"

"Yeah," he chuckled a bit. "You seem surprised."

"Well yeah, I mean the two of you don't really look alike. Or act alike."

"Well, not all siblings are the same," he said, gesturing to me. I got what he meant by that.

"Hey, that's a good thing," I told him.

"I know, and we don't have anything against you. I just want you to know that we're good people."

I smiled a little, "Okay."

"Okay. Um, are you joining us for dinner? I could bring some Uno cards if you want, and we could all play together," he said. That's nice of him.

"U-Um yeah sure. That would be nice."

"Okay," he nodded, and walked off to his room which was actually just a few doors down.

I sighed, "Okay."

I closed the door, and turned around.

There was an envelope on my bed. A black one. I picked it up, and studied it carefully. For all I know, it could be another freaking bomb.

The seal it had was unusual. It had a skull, but only one crossbone. It had a gold color that gleamed in the evening sunlight.

My window was closed so I don't know how it got there.

Wait. If I'm just now seeing this, then that means someone put it there while I was talking to Aiden. Which means he must've saw who put it there!

Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he just missed it or something. But what if he knew about it?

I put the envelope down, and shook my head. No, that can't be right. He's my friend now. He's a good person. If he saw someone in my room, I'm sure he would've told me. Because that's what friends do.

So who the heck was in my room just now?

Finally! Another update, I know. You guys are truly the best for bearing with me. Lots of things have happened lately. First off, school is going a lot better for me now. I've been focusing on my schoolwork a lot more and it's really been helping. I'm doing a lot better in my classes.

Also Covid vaccines are being given out now. That's a good change. Even though there's a vaccine, Covid is still out there. Please stay safe and careful.

Also I am a huge movie fan. Movies are basically books on a screen for me. I just watched the trailer for Godzilla vs. King Kong and I gotta say, I am looking forward to seeing who's gonna win. Who do you guys think? 🦖 or 🦍?

Thank you all for reading my stories!!
