*David Pov*

I walked inside the house holding the parcel and saw that the lights are already switched off. I sat on the table and started having the food which I bought from outside.

When I finished it, I walked in the kitchen to see her empty parcel near the basin. I am so used to love the outside food, but now I wish I can have some homemade food at least a little.

I sighed and walked inside our room to see her already sleeping. I changed into evening clothes and lay on the bed thinking how my life just changed to my wish, but I am not happy.

"Why are you so late?" Parul asked, turning towards me.

"You are not my wife." I replied, closing my eyes.

"And you are not my husband, but tell me why." She repeated.

"The work is tiring and it took more time today. And it's not like you care at what time I arrive and all." I said shaking my head.

After that divorce, our parents asked us to move out, but didn't cut us off from the business or money. I am still working at my company, and she is still doing modeling, but they don't talk to us, and that's it.

When we want anything, they give us and just try to stay away from us. They do not even blame us for anything. They think they are the people who made the mistakes.

*Parul Pov*

I miss Dad and Mom. I want them to be here and say what I am doing is right or wrong. Even though now I am doing everything that I wish without anyone's objection I am not feeling very well.

My Dad just says what a grave mistake, he did blackmail me. He is not even scolding me anymore, no matter what I am doing.

I sighed and glanced at David to see him looking at the ceiling. He too misses his parents I guess.

And our suffering is also correct because we indeed did a mistake. I wish I didn't do it and have some shame.

"Do you know Janice got married two months back?" he asked looking at me.

"Really? I heard Adithya got married too." I replied.

"They actually got married to each other." He said, and I looked at him shocked.

"What? How are they even good pair? They are so alike as far as I know." I said frowning.

"Yeah! But they got married and that too without parent's consent." He said, and this is the second shock.

"I never expected it." I said, shaking my head.

For some time, we both stayed in silence, and I slowly mumbled "I hate this house."

"Look, even though we both have money we don't have it in liquid so for now I got only this flat and that too for an unmarried couple. So don't start talking about it because I too don't like it." He said shaking his head.

"I know! I have early-morning shooting. I will just go to sleep." I said, turning around and drifted off into sleep.

*Adithya Pov*

I frowned when I heard the everyday alarm, but today I felt so irritated and tried to close my ears.

Nonetheless, then felt someone's weight on me, so I opened my eyes a little to see Janice sleeping, and we are still holding each other.

I smiled, but frowned seeing the frown on her face hearing that alarm, and I immediately groaned hearing that stupid alarm again. I patted my hand on the table and got a hold of it.

Then I just threw it outside through the window, and the shot was a good thing. I smiled, feeling relaxed getting that stupid one out of my life.

"Why did you do that?" I heard Janice asking and looked down to see her frowning.

"It was irritating." I replied and turned a little towards her side.

"It was irritating from the beginning." She said yawning.

"Today it was unbearable." I said, and she nodded closing her eyes.

"I would have helped you in smashing it. I so wanted to do it, but now I don't have any chance." She said turning to look at the window.

"Later we will get it from downstairs, and will do as per your wish." I said closing my eyes.

"Do we have to get up now?" she asked sighing.

"No! Just sleep." I replied and hugged her more drifting off into sleep again.

"Wake up!" I felt someone shaking me, and I opened my eyes to see her panic face.

"We are getting late." She said, and I shook my head.

"My timings changed Janice. I don't have an extra duty." I said and again tried to sleep.

"Stop mumbling in your sleep and get up. I will not be able to catch a bus if I don't wake up now." She said and tried to remove my hand.

"Bus? Now who is mumbling in the sleep?" I asked shaking my head.

She suddenly pinched my arm, making me yelp and remove it around her. She got up and began to get ready.

I too got up and looked at the clock to see that it is past 8. I too took my dress and went in the other room to get ready.

We both rushed downstairs and saw Mom and Dad looking at us in confusion. She immediately started spreading the jam over the bread slices and gave one while she took the other.

"Bye!" she said walking outside, but I stopped holding her hand.

"I will drop you." I said.

"You will get late." She said looking at the clock.

"Let's go." I said, shaking my head, and we walked towards my bike.

I gave her my bread piece and started the bike. She frowned, but sat on the bike holding the bread.

After a few minutes, I calmly said, "Are you going to eat my breakfast or what? Give it to me."

"How will you eat?" She asked, and I moved my head a little opening my mouth.

She nodded, placing it inside my mouth. We stopped near the college to see the students walking inside.

"Thanks for dropping me. I would have not been able to reach here by bus." She said and ate the last piece.

"Bus? You come here in the bus?" I asked her shocked.

"Yeah! How else should I travel?" She asked me back.

"Taxi!" I offered.

"Seriously? Why would I waste my salary like that on taxi everyday?" She asked and added, "Ok, Bye! We will meet at home."

"Wait!" I said, stopping her and placed my hand on her corner of the lips making her eyes go wide.

"Don't worry! There are small bread crumbs here." I said, smiling and dusted them away.

"Thanks!" She said and within a second, she pecked my cheek and rushed inside the college before I can think what she did.

I chuckled, shaking my head and drove towards the station. I walked inside and immediately saw Rajeev with a worried expression.

"You are fine? I was about to call the police station and report regarding you." He said shaking his head.

"We are in the police station." I said looking around.

"Yeah! But I heard there is some best station on the other side of Mumbai. I want to see how they will search you, so I decided for them." He said shrugging.

"Why were you worried?" I asked him, frowning and entered my room.

"Because for the first time in your service you are half an hour late." He replied and grinned.

"You must be so happy with that information right?" I asked sitting in my chair.

"Of course! Now you cannot scold any of our staff giving me as the example for coming late." He said and grinned more.

"So why were you late?" he asked.

"Janice and I woke up a little late, so I just dropped her at the college." I replied.

"You both woke up late?" He asked with a mischievous smile.

"Rajeev! You are worse than any gossip girl. Seriously man! Go and do your work." I said, shaking my head.

"So it's a secret then." He said and walked outside when I lifted my gun hearing his words.

In the evening, I glanced at the clock and left the office to see few people looking at me with knowing looks.

"Rajeev!" I shouted, and he walked outside from his place.

"Yes?" He asked innocently.

"Don't gossip about me again." I said, glaring at him.

"I didn't do anything. And where are you going so early?" he asked little loudly.

"I will not say anything to you." I said walking outside and drove to my house.

"You are early Adithya?" Mom asked smiling.

"Yeah! I don't have any more work, so I came early." I replied, nodding and walked inside our room.

When I entered I saw that she is sitting at the table and studying something with serious expressions.

"Someone is busy." I said removing my gun and the belt.

"Adithya!" She said smiling after looking up and got up from the chair.

"You are home early." She said and walked towards me.

"Yeah! Just got no work and then thought of coming here, and I thought you must be getting bored." I started rambling, but she just smiled and hugged me while I returned the hug immediately.

"Thanks!" She said releasing me and closed all her books.

"You can study, Janice. Don't stop it." I said shaking my head.

"It is really not important. I will do it later. Now, tell me will you have any snacks?" She asked.

"After some time and by the way, I forgot to tell you that I actually finished my extra duty yesterday, so I will not come home late." I replied.

"Really? Then it will be so good." She said smiling, and I smiled at her back.

"So how was your day?" I asked her when we walked downstairs.

"Today I got a love letter from a student." She suddenly replied when I started sipping the tea making me cough.

"What?" I asked her smiling.

"Yeah! I got so shocked, but gave him the soft reply that I am married, and that he will get some very good girl." She replied chuckling.

"Poor fellow! Must be so heartbroken." I said, shaking my head.

"But he smiled at the end of the day so all is good. What about your day?" She asked serving little snacks.

"Don't ask me! That Rajeev gossiped about my late coming and god everyone looked at me funnily." I explained, and she laughed.

"I like to know your friend more. He always sounds cool." She said, and I nodded.

"Your Bhai is cool and they both are kind of same." I said, and she smiled.

"I just love my brother." She said, and I can see the fondness.

"I always wanted a sibling, but Rajeev filled the space." I said, and she nodded understanding.

Like that we continued to chat for so long that Mom had to call us for dinner otherwise we would have stayed like that on the lawn.

Today we four had the dinner together with my parents so it is totally quiet. I was looking at the corner to see Janice looking back at me and we both suddenly chuckled, making my parents look at us frowning.

We both composed ourselves and calmly had our dinner. When we walked inside the room, we both laughed a little feeling so awkward with silent dinner. I laughed so much today. I thought, shaking my head while looking at her.

second of all i am so happy that you all liked the steps because the story beginning in my mind was the steps and then all these things got build up from that point so i am happy :)
