"Bridget I have cancer." I just looked at him. No he is lying. He looked healthy yesterday. "You are lying to me right?" He just shook his head. At that moment the bus stopped. I tried to get off of the bus quick. Edurado kept calling me but I just kept going. I couldn't believe it. I finally made it to the counseling office. "Hi can I speak to Ms.Valance please it's important." "Bridget." I turned to see my counselor. "Can we talk please?" She nodded. "Come in."

"Bridget, Lucy and James made me aware about your biological mother. I'm so sorry for your loss."

Wow I forgot all about my bio mom because of Eduardo.

Oh no Eduardo is probably worried since I ran off. There was a knock on the door. "Enter." It was Nick and Lexy. "Bridget, there you are Eduardo has been looking all over for you," Nick said. I just started to sob. I think it scared Nick because he whispered to Lexy. "Bridget, whats wrong?" It took a minute to speak. "Its Eduardo. He.."

"Did you guys broke up already?" Nick asked. I shook my head. "Then what?" "He has cancer." Everyone was in shock. "What?" Nick asked. "Are you sure?" Lexy asked. I nodded. "Oh Bridget he is outside if you want to talk to him," Lexy said. "Bring him inside," I said. She nodded. I couldn't look at Eduardo because of my behavior.

"Edurado I.." He cut me off. "Bridget don't say sorry for what happened because it isn't not your fault." He walked up to me and he just opened his arms. Almost immediatly I went into them. "Why aren't you mad at me?" He looked at me and sighed. "I'm not mad because I was kinda expected it." I looked at him. "You were preparing yourself for this?" He nodded. "What kind of cancer is it?" I asked.

I need to know.

"I have leukemia. It's stage three right now but it could be going to Stage four but I just don't know." I couldn't speak. "Is there anything else you can do?" Nick asked. "Just wait for my blood test to come back." I felt so weak. I could barely breathe. I can't lose him. Not yet.

I began to shake. Edurado must have noticed. "Bridget, hey I know you are upset but try to breathe okay. I need you to be strong for me please." I took a deep breathe and nodded. Ms. Torres cleared her throat. "I hate to be rude but you guys need to get to the gym for your schedules." We nodded.

Eduardo and I didn't really talk until Thomas came up. "Hey Edurado why are you holding that nerd's hand? She is super annoying. Come hang out with me." Eduardo just looked at him. "No thanks." Then we walked away.

In the gym, I saw Becky and Nella. "Hey, have they started it?" "No but where is Edurado?" Nella asked. "He went to get our schedules." She nodded. "Did he tell you about his cancer?" Nella asked. Becky looked at me in shocked. "Who has cancer?" she asked. I took a deep breathe. "Eduardo does" I said. Becky was in shocked.

Eduardo came up and sat next to me. "Hey, everything okay?" I asked. He nodded. "I was just looking at our schedules and we have all the same classes." I took my schdeule and looked at it. "Yea, we do." He smiled. I took his hand. Then out of nowhere, Edurado just kissed me. It was slow and sweet. After a few minutes Nick cleared his throat to get our attention.

We laughed and began listening to the "welcome to the new school year speech." After that we went to our college Algebra class. We both have libary service zero hour but it doesn't start until tomorrow. So far the classes have been going well. They're shorter class periods which is nice for the seniors because Nella, Eduardo, and me don't have a seventh hour.

After our sixth hour we went to the library to get some books. I didn't realized Eduardo loved to read becuse he got all five books at one time. Nella however seemed upset so I went over to check on her. "Hey, you okay?" She just looked at me. "I don't know if you relaized this but I'm scared for Eduardo and now for you," she said. "I understand Edurado but why me?" "I worry for you because when he dies you might die along with him." I was shocked. Nella actually cared about me.

Before I could speak Edurado came over. "Hey, everything okay?" he asked. Nella didn't even look at him. He looked concerned. "Bridget? Is everything alright?" I took a deep breath. "It's not up to me to tell you. Its Nella's choice."

She took a deep breathe and told him what she just told me. He was shocked. Then out of nowhere he grabbed my arm really hard. "Ow, Eduardo let go." Ignoring my action instead, he replied "Bridget promise me you won't kill yourself because of me. Promise me." "okay I promise, but can you let me go now?." He let go.

After that, we decided to walk home. Nothing could have prepared me for this though. As we were walking I noticed a black car. "Eduardo, Nella there is a black car behind us." They began to turn their heads. "No, don't turn around," I shouted. We just walking until it stopped in front of us.

The car engine went off so we thought we could just walk around it when all of sudden it came right at us. Next thing I knew Eduardo was pushing Nella and me out of the way. I looked up and Edurado was on the ground.

We ran as fast as we could to him. He was unconsicous. Nella checked his pulse. "Call 911 now." After I spoke with the operator I saw the blood. "Nella give me your jacket. He's losing blood." she nodded and handed it right to me. That was when the paramedics arrived or so we thought. The next I felt was a jab into my back and my whole world went black.
