The New Kits

Y/nkit's P.O.V

I grunted as one of Bluefur's kits landed on me. It was still leaf-bare and Whitekit towered over the kits. I looked up at him in awe. He was already as big as an apprentice. He gently shoved the little kit off of me and I leaned up and nuzzled his chest. He purred. "Come here Y/nkit I wanted to show you something." He bounced his way out of the nursery and I followed quickly. He ran across the camp and shoved his way through the dirtplace tunnel. I gagged a little but followed him through it. He clambered up a rock and when I leaped after him in pursuit and failed, he leaned down and grabbed my scruff, hauling me up. I panted and continued to follow him up the ravine. I scrambled my way up the next boulder and sat down. Whitekit was waiting for me at the top of the ravine. I scrambled most of the way up, I could no longer find the foot paths. I looked up at Whitekit who was just barely out of reach and he leaned down, digging his hind claws into whatever he could and grabbing my scruff again, pulling me up. "This is what I wanted to show you." He nodded his head down towards the camp and I watched as Bluefur stumbled out of the nursery, Mistykit and Stonekit tumbling out of the den behind her. I peered closer and saw Mosskit sitting at the entrance, just peeking out and not walking out.

"Are we allowed to do this?" I asked, fluffing my pelt out against the chilly air. "No. But I'll be an apprentice next moon, so I wanted to show you this before I got too busy with apprentice duties." He purred. "Now let's get you back to camp before you freeze." He stood up and got ready to jump down when a deep growl sounded behind us. "That's right. You're not allowed out of camp, kits." I whimpered and Whitekit stepped over me. "Who are you? Show yourself!" He demanded. A beautiful orange tabby stepped out of the shadows, his pelt dripped with water. "I've come to see Bluefur about pressing matters concerning our clans. Crookedstar has given me permission so no need to tell your Clan leader." He flicked his tail, standing tall over Whitekit. I flinched back and Whitekit picked me up by my scruff and leaped back down into the ravine, we passed Bluefur on the way, she was going up the ravine towards the strange water soaked cat.

Whitekit set me down on the grass clearing and padded into the nursery. I followed quickly after. "You should probably stay here for the rest of the day. Redstar said it's supposed to get colder soon." He dipped his head at me and then walked out of the nursery. I yawned sat in my nest. Three more moons, Y/nkit. Only three. I sighed. Trying to convince myself only three was going to be hard. That's going to be forever.  I clawed up my nest and put it back together, well, as well as I could anyways. Goldenshine walked in and looked at the nest. "Y/nkit what's the matter? Why have you ripped up your nest?" She walked over and fluffed it and put it into place again. "Whitekit told me you might need some company." She licked my head and sat down. "I'm sorry Redstar has confined you to your nest. He doesn't want another Clan scare." She dipped her head in apology. "It's okay Goldenshine, it's not like it was your fault in the first place."  I laid down, tucking my paws under myself and flicking my tail. "It's not even sun-high, it's so boring here." Goldenshine shifted her paws uncomfortably and flexed her paws. "I'll ask Redclaw and Blueclaw if I can take you out of the nursery until moon-rise." She left and bounded out of the camp, obviously going after their patrol. I looked across camp, peeking my head out of the nursery. A shadow loomed over me and I looked up. Stormtail looked down at me, flicking his tail. "You're not supposed to be outside of the nursey." He glared. Goldenshine rushed over and placed her tail on his back. "It's okay Stormtail. Blueclaw said I could take her out of the nursery for a little bit and I just got Redstar's permission too." She placed her tail on his chest, signaling him to step back. He stepped back and Goldenshine took his place. "Come on Y/nkit. I'm going to take you outside. Redstar said I could take you up to the training clearing but no farther." She went out the gorse tunnel.

I followed behind in quick pursuit, she leaped nimbly up the ravine and I scrambled to follow behind her. I got halfway up before I had to take a break, panting. I looked down to see how high up and realized that if I was not careful I could die. I leaped the rest of the way up and scrambled to catch up to her. I found her and sat next to her. "Usually, kits are not allowed up here until they're apprentices, but I'm sure Whitekit has already taken you out of the camp already anyways and I got the okay from Redstar. He said that as long as you were with a warrior it was okay." She smiled and walked into the clearing and sat. "Do you want to do anything? I'm sure I could teach you something to show the other kits." She smiled. "Is there anything you want to learn?" She asked. "What are the best defense and attack moves?"

We walked back to camp, I stumbled half the time we were going doing the ravine, almost falling a few times. Each time, Goldenshine was there to catch me. We finally arrived back in the ravine, it was almost moon-rise and Redclaw bounded over to me. "Thank you for watching over her, Goldenshine. We must have her inside tonight. It's the half-moon." She dipped her head and ushered me into the nursery where she fluffed up her nest and laid down, making room for me. I shook my head. "I want to lay in the same nest as Whitekit before he becomes an apprentice. I'll return after he's become one. I want to spend as much time as possible with him before I can't spend any." I licked my mothers paw and raced over to lay next to Whitekit who turned to lay on his side and curled around me. I purred and fluffed out my f/c (fur color) pelt to try to keep me warmer. I then fell asleep.
