Moonkit

Y/nblizzard's P.O.V

It's been two moons since I took Redclaw's kits in, and two moons since she died, and so did Blueclaw. I was still healing and I looked over at the camp entrance, yawning and padding over to Highrock. "Lionheart do you think I could go on a hunting patrol? Food is still scarce and I'd like to try to bring some back." I dipped my head at him and purred softly, trying to show my respect. He nodded. "Yes you may. Take Sandpaw, Firepaw, and Stonefur." I nodded my head and bounded over to the apprentices den. "Sandpaw! Firepaw! We're going on a hunting patrol get ready!" I called. I could hear all five of the apprentices stir. Graypaw was the first one to leave the den, he padded out and over to his new mentor, Lionheart. I backed away and bounded over to the warriors den. "Stonefur!" I called, backing out of the den as well. Unfortunately I woke a few of the other warriors but they didn't complain, they padded over to the fresh-kill pile and I waited by the gorse entrance. Stonefur and the apprentices bounded over and I nodded at them. "Are you ready to go?" I asked, Stonefur nodded and we pushed our way out of the gorse tunnel. "We're going to go to Sunningrocks. I want to see if there's any prey there that is coming out of hiding." I ran to Sunningrocks and smiled softly. "I promise you there won't be any but if you'd like we can do The Great Sycamore tree." I nodded. "If there are no prey at Sunningrocks then we can go to the sycamore."

I stayed low, my hackles raised and my ears pressed flat against my head, teeth bared. I glared at the warrior standing on the Sunningrocks, Stonefur had sent Firepaw back to the camp to try and grab reinforcements. "What are you doing on RiverClan territory?" The cat hissed, her fur slicked back and dripping with water. I growled and snapped my teeth. "This is ThunderClan territory." I stood up, flexing my claws. "Well it's RiverClan's and we're here to take it back." The RiverClan she-cat snapped. "Lightheart! Leave Sunningrocks alone!" I heard a familiar voice call. It was at that moment that Firepaw returned with extra warriors, Lionheart, Bluestar, and Whitestorm were a part of the reinforcements, but so was Nightsky, Brackenpaw, Graypaw, Tigerpelt, Tigerclaw, and Darkstripe. Darkstripe and Whitestorm padded up beside me and growled, their claws unsheathed. "Let's go Silverwing! Sunningrocks is ours and we need to take it back!"

In what seemed like less than a heartbeat there was a battle, there was fur flying everywhere and yowls echoing by the gorge. I noticed there was a cat ripping at Brackenpaw's fur and I ran over quickly and bowled the cat over and off of the smaller cat. The cat yowled in shock. "Brackenpaw remember your battle training!" I called to him before being tackled by a spotted cat. I shoved my paws into their stomach and raked my claws down their side. The cat yowled in pain and I glared at them. I snapped my teeth at them. I heard Bluestar's yowl echo over the battle. "Get more reinforcements! We will not lose Sunningrocks this time!" Firepaw and Graypaw dashed out of the battle and back towards the camp. It felt like forever when they returned with the rest of the warriors, bringing Thornheart, Thistlepelt, Gorsepaw, Mistyfoot, and Iceclaw. They dashed into the battle and one of them shoved a RiverClan cat into the gorge. The yowl echoed loud enough to stop the whole battle. "Lightheart!" Crookedstar yowled, diving into the gorge's water, gasping for air as he came up and swam for the petite she-cat. RiverClan cat after cat leapt into the water after their leader. "I-I have to help!" I ran for the ledge but Whitestorm grasped my scruff just as I was about to jump, pulling me back. "No! Please I have to help her! If Crookedstar can't get to her in time I have to try!" I struggled to get free of his grasp but it was impossible. "I'll do it." Bluestar stepped forward, leaping into the gorge. "NO! BLUESTAR!" Whitestorm dropped me in a panic and jumped in after her. "Whitestorm!" I called, running to the bottom of the gorge, searching frantically for his familiar white fur. "WHITESTORM!" I called, panicking. Darkstripe and our kits ran down. "Y/nblizzard calm down! Whitestorm will always come back for ThunderClan!" They tried to reassure me but I didn't calm down until I saw Whitestorm washed up on the shore. I dashed over to him pounced on his chest, forcing him to cough up water. I curled up next to him, licking his fur the wrong way and trying to keep him warm, I could feel the warmth in his body slipping away and I could feel the muscles relaxing. Stonefur and Mistyfoot raced down and pounced on their mother.

We carried the two bodies back to camp, sticking close to Whitestorm I struggled through the gorse tunnel, trying to stick close to him. We laid him down in the medicine den but we laid Bluestar in the center of the clearing. She had lost a life racing after the small RiverClan cat. Whitestorm did not have lives like Bluestar did so he was at a bigger risk. Skykit, Cloudkit, Lotuskit, Flowerkit, and Seedkit ran in. "We heard Whitestorm was hurt!" They ran over and nudged him, whimpering. "Mosspad, he'll be okay right?" They asked, looking up at the  beautiful medicine cat. She nodded. "He should be okay if you keep him warm. Your mother will know what to do if it gets too bad." She reassured the kits and licked Whitestorm's head. "I remember when he saved me from a fox when I left camp when I wasn't supposed to as a kit. If he dies I'll never forgive myself." She left the den and padded back into the main clearing, going to mourn her mothers lost life. Bluestar got up after a few heartbeats and she went back to her own den, all of her kits following to make sure she was okay. "She isn't going to make it... one of these days she'll be forced to give out." I muttered. "Bluestar... will always... prevail..." I heard Whitestorm gasp and I leaned down, licking his head. "I know love, I'm just worried." I curled around him as best as I could and he nodded slowly. "I understand, she can only push so far." He muttered, his voice deep and raspy. "Shhh... Get some rest Whitestorm. Your family needs you. Sootkit, Rainkit, and Sorrelkit need you..." I whispered, licking his chest fur like a coddling mother. He purred in amusement and curled his tail over my haunches.

Two moons ago, Whitestorm faced a near death experience, our kits scampered around camp. Graystripe padded up to me and purred softly, nosing me gently. "Are you excited for your kits to be apprentices in two moons?" He asked. I nodded. "Very. I'm too old to have any more kits and I just hope they're going to get good mentors. Like you have Sorrelpaw, Brackenstorm has Tawnypaw, Fireheart has Bramblepaw, Tigerpelt has Rainpaw and I have Sootpaw. It's just a good match up. You and Fireheart are young warriors but you know how to train them the way they're supposed to be trained. It makes sense." I nudged him. "Just wait until you have kits, you'll be proud to see them into apprentices and warriors. It's the best feeling you could ever have." I purred in amusement. "Mistyfoot and Tigerpelt are expecting so... I guess I truly am getting old. I'm having kin through my kit already." I purred. "Oh! Yeah and Tigerclaw is having kits with Nightsky and one last litter with Goldenflower." He said. I groaned. "I must get one more litter in." I joked, nosing Graystripe gently. "Here, why don't you go on a hunting patrol with Fireheart and the apprentices? I'll let Tigerclaw know where you're going." I nosed him towards his best friend and then I padded over to Tigerclaw, Lionheart had died of wounds last moon and Tigerclaw was named deputy in his place. Fireheart didn't enjoy the new arrangement, he had escaped with his friend Ravenpaw a while ago, he was Tigerclaw's old apprentice. They came back and said he had been killed on a hunting expedition but I knew it wasn't true, Ravenpaw was always able to hold himself in a battle, I'd trained with him a couple times. Anyways. I nosed Tigerclaw. "Congratulations on the two pregnant mates. I hope you take good care of them." I snarled quietly. I trusted Fireheart's judgement and if he didn't like Tigerclaw then I didn't either. "Whatever. Where is Graystripe taking all of the apprentices and Fireheart?" He asked. "I told them to go on a hunting mission. It's new-leaf and we haven't been hunting for a while, I'm going to take Whitestorm and Willowpelt on a border patrol with Gorsetail."

I padded away from Tigerclaw and then bounded over to Gorsetail and Whitestorm who were talking with their heads low. "Boys. We're going on a border patrol let's go." I flicked my tail at them and walked towards the gorse tunnel. Seedkit bounced in my way, his blue eyes bright. "Can we go with you Y/nblizzard? I want to go out of camp!" He pleaded. "Ask Sootpaw. You can't come with me. There are too many dangers." I scoot him away with my paw and walk through the gorse tunnel, climbing up the winding rocky path and leaping in between the boulders up the ravine. I sat at the top, waiting for Whitestorm and Gorsetail, the yjoined me shortly after and I nodded my head at them in approval, heading towards the scent markers. First I went towards the kittypet place and found a very tiny kitten sniffing at the markers. Gorsetail leapt out at the kitten and I pounced on him before he could tackle the kitten. "Gorsetail. We do not attack helpless kittens." I snap at him, climbing off and turning back to the strange cat. His eyes stared at me but they were bright and joyful. "Hi! My name is Tiny!" He purred, sitting up. "I"m Y/nblizzard of ThunderClan, this is Gorsetail, and this is Whitestorm." I pointed at them with my tail and he perked up. "Wow! Real forest cats! Can I come with you back to your clan?" He asked. "Uh.. I'd have to ask our leader about that kitty." I tried to be nice to him, knowing it was probably going to be a no. I looked at Whitestorm. "I'll be back with Bluestar. She'll decide if you can come back to the clan or not." He dipped his head at him and turned around, leaving. "Tiny would you like a mouse?" I asked, unsure of how to handle him. "Oh yes please!" He pleaded. "I've never had a mouse before!" He perked up, happy. "Gorsetail, go hunt this kit a mouse." I ordered. He sighed and bounded away. "So, Tiny, how old are you?" I asked warily. "Oh! I'm six moons! My mother says I'll be tiny my whole life!" He squeaked. "Ah okay..." Gorsetail reappeared and dropped the mouse at the small kits paws, purring gently. "Here you go." Tiny looked at it and leaned down, taking a big bite and eating it. "Wow! This is amazing!" He bounced around and finished eating it.

Whitestorm appeared later with Bluestar in tow, she looked at the kitten and sniffed him. "How old are you, kit?" She asked. "I'm six moons, ma'am!" He answered, his eyes bright and wide. "Whitestorm, Gorsetail, take this kit back to the camp, I want to have a word with Y/nblizzard." She dipped her head as the three cats made their way back to camp, as I turned to look at Bluestar she slashed one of her claws over my ears. "How dare you still be in ThunderClan after all you have put me through?" She snapped. "I am hereby banishing you, you have broken the warrior code and put all of us in danger, my kin deserves better than you." She snarled, whipping around and stalking back towards their camp. I sat, dismayed. "I'm.. banished..?"

I sat in the same spot for a long time, hoping Bluestar would come back and say that she was sorry and that I was to come back to camp but she didn't come. And neither did my kits or Whitestorm. I finally got up and padded along the border, coming across a WindClan border patrol. I hadn't realized how far I walked and I looked up at them. "Come with us, you are trespassing on WindClan territory. Crowstar will not be pleased with this." The black and white warrior hissed, his tall legs allowing him to stand tall over me. I nodded and followed them slowly back to camp, my tail trailing and my head down.

We arrived in the camp and they led me to Crowstar's den, he looked me up and down and I just sat there. "You are dismissed, go get some prey from the fresh-kill pile. I will deal with the ThunderClan warrior myself." He mewed to his warriors and then beckoned me in. "What has brought you to the land of wind?" He asked. "I... I don't know... Bluestar has banished me from ThunderClan and I just started walking. I will leave you in peace and travel to be a loner if you do not wish to have me here." I offered. "No. Please stay for a while. If you decide you would like to join WindClan, please tell my deputy, Talltail." He shooed me out of his den and then hopped up onto the rock. "I would like to see Talltail, Rabbitfoot, and Wingtalon in my den please." He then leaped down and retreated into his den. I sat down and stayed where I was in the clearing, crouched and not speaking. The WindClan cats stared at me and nodded slightly.

Crowstar, Talltail, Rabbitfoot, and Wingtalon padded out of the leaders' den and Crowstar called a clan meeting. "We have a cat in need of help in our clan today! She will be considered one of us until she says otherwise!" He called. "Her new name, no longer will it be Y/nblizzard, but it shall be Y/nheart. Y/nblizzard was her ThunderClan name and now she has a WindClan name. She will be called by this name or not at all! Clan dismissed!" He leaped off the rock and padded over. "I hope I did not cross any boundaries with the naming, Y/nheart?" He asked, using his tail to stroke my spine. "No you did not. If I were to be called Y/nblizzard it would only break my heart. Thank you Crowstar."

~Three weeks later~

Two weeks ago I had decided to stay in Windclan, it is now my home. One week ago I had given birth to a single kitten. Her name is Moonkit and her father is Crowstar. This is the last kit I will ever have, Crowstar was kind to me when nobody else was and I had gone to the Gathering the night before and my old clanmates had shunned me, even the love of my life. It almost broke me. "Crowstar I'm going on a walk! Will you watch Moonkit for me?" I called over to him, he was setting border patrols up but he nodded. "As soon as I'm done here I'll come watch her!" He answered. I nodded a thanks and pushed my way out of the camp, running to Fourtrees. I stumbled into the hollow and sat there, looking up at the trees and sighing, laying down and resting my head. "What are you doing here, Y/nheart." A familiar deep mew sounded and I stood up, whipping around. "Whitestorm!" My heart lifted and I pricked my ears. "Tigerclaw told me that you killed Lionheart and that you also killed Redtail." He snapped. I leaned away. "Wh- No! I would never! Lionheart was like a father to me after Blueclaw passed away! And I was in the nursery with Darkstripe's kits when Redtail died!" I pleaded with him. "Save it. I know it wasn't you. I brought Skypaw and Cloudpaw to see you..." He stepped aside, revealing the two apprentices. "Oh my kits!" I raced towards them and licked their heads. "You smell... As though you have a kit..." Whitestorm backed away. "Have you... gotten a new mate?" He asked. "Whitestorm... It's only one kit, Crowstar wanted a kit and I was in the right position and in the wrong mental state. We had one kit but Whitestorm it's you... I still love you. I want to come back to ThunderClan. I want to be with my family again..." I pleaded. "I know. Firestar has unbanned you and sent me to come retrieve you. And now apparently your kit too." He sat down. "I can sneak out with her tonight... If you'll meet me here at moon-high we can go back to ThunderClan together!" I leaned into him. "I'm so happy!" I bounced around him and pressed my head into his cheek.
