CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
Today Lee was feeling more like a girl. She was still dressed in her masculine dags, a plaid shirt unbuttoned with a white singlet underneath, ripped denim jeans, her miraculous and boots. Lee's hair had purple washout dye coloured through it, she did it on the last day of the term and was already starting to fade. Lee walked to the front door and opened it, "Lee, are you forgetting something?" She heard her father say.
Lee jumped at his voice, she had thought he was still at work. "Dad? How come you're home early?"
"I'm not home early, I didn't go to work today."
Lee frowned. It was almost lunch, and she hadn't seen her dad all day and he is telling her that he was here the whole time. "How come?"
Josiah got defensive, and he crossed his arms, "That is adult business, Lee."
Lee held up her arms, surrendering, "Sure, whatever. I have plans, I will be home by tomorrow."
"That's it?"
"What else is there?" Lee's eyes were glassy, she wiped them, turning away from her dad. "Look, I'm going to be late."
"Right." Josiah sunk into his chair, he seemed to age a few years by the expression on his face. Lee had gotten used to that, to her father looking older with each action. Josiah has fully grey hair with wrinkles scouring his face. Just by looking at the forty-year-old man a person would assume he was in his late fifties. Josiah looked at Lee and smiled softly, "Have fun, Ceci."
"Yeah," she nodded. A small lump grew in her throat after hearing her childhood nickname, she hadn't heard anyone call her that since her mother's death. "I'll try, dad."

Pierre had been confused by Lee's behaviour. When Lee met up with the group, she had a smile on her face but the second she laid eyes on Ellie her smile turned into a sour glare. It wasn't Pierre's idea to invite a date but after talking to Quartz, he decided it would make today a lot more bearable. Pierre never had the best luck with girls, so Quartz got him the date
"Lee, are you okay?" He whispered to his best friend. Lee nodded, but everything about her said otherwise.
Pierre bit his lip and played with his earphones anxiously, "Sorry, if inviting Ellie destroyed today."
"Why would that destroy anything? I'm bringing May, you're bringing Ellie."
"Yeah, right."
Pierre looked away from Lee and paid attention to Ellie and May's conversation in front of him. "What ride should we go on first?" Ellie asked May.
May looked around the grounds, their eyes widening as they spotted a fortuneteller, "We should go there! I've always wanted to get my fortune told!" The teenager exclaimed.
Lee shook her head, "No way, all fortunetellers are scams."
"Please, Lee?" May begged.
Lee bit her lip and glanced over to Pierre. The blond-haired shrugged, "Fine," Lee said with a sigh.
"Yay!" May grabbed Lee's hand and rushed over to the tent.
Pierre felt his jaw tighten, he wanted to put in his earphones and listen to music but then he remembered Ellie. "Wanna follow them?"
"Don't we have to?"
Pierre chuckled although he knew it wasn't a joke. May's parents were the ones giving them a lift back home, if Pierre leaves the group and his phone dies, he'll be stuck in Blacktown with no way home.
The tent was a purple velvet, small but big enough to hold the four of them and Madame O'Dear. Madame O'Dear was a younger lady, close to his aunt's age, she has light brown hair and hazel eyes. The fortuneteller was wearing an unfortunate amount of makeup as if she was trying to hide her real identity, something Pierre knew quite a lot about.
"Children! Take a seat! I've been expecting you!" Pierre looked at the seats placed in front of her crystal ball, exactly four seats.
"Yeah right," Lee muttered to herself before taking the first seat, "Let's get this over and done with."
May sat down next to their partner, "Lee! Be nice, please."
Ellie was next to sit down, she took the seat furthest away from everyone, which didn't surprise Pierre since Ellie hardly knew any of them. Pierre was the last one to sit down and as he went to sit down he realised something, he was sitting next to Lee. Once again his attempts to avoid Lee had failed.
"I see tension young ones," Madame O'Dear rubbed her crystal ball, it changing colours as she spoke, Pierre had assumed the ball was made of thermotropic liquids. "And love."
May gripped Lee's hand as Lee shuffled uncomfortably, yet not denying the touch.
"You," Madame O'Dear turned to Ellie, "You are out of place, no?" Ellie nodded. "I see in your future great things, you won't follow the path chosen for you but instead blossom in one of your own design."
Pierre had no idea what the fortuneteller was talking about but by the look on Ellie's face, he could tell she was good at her job. "That isn't even original," Lee pointed.
The fortuneteller turned to Lee as the crystal ball turned to a dark grey, "You. You are hurt, someone you loved has shuffled off this mortal coil."
Lee bottled her fist, Pierre grabbed her right hand and softly rubbed his thumb on it, "Breath," Pierre whispered.
"You are in pain but you are also in love, a confusing mix," May squealed, giving Lee's shoulder an excited squeeze. "But do not worry, in your future I see security. You will make the choice you have been fearing to face," Pierre felt goosebumps rise on Lee's hand, the boy wondered what this choice Madame O'Dear is talking about.
"You." She turned to face Pierre. The boy felt the colour drain from his face, he didn't know what Madame O'Dear was going to say about him, but he knew one thing already, it isn't going to be good. "You are used to loneliness but in your future, I see that you are not alone, you find love and you will be happy."
Lee stood up, "This is a waste of money!" She exclaimed. Yet another thing she had done that confused him today, did she not want him to be happy. This reaction he couldn't understand.
"Lee, what-"
"Let's go," She told May, Pierre looked at Ellie, the girl staring at Pierre as if waiting for an answer to Lee's explosion.
"Just wait a moment," Madame O'Dear said calmly, she stood up, revealing her short height.
"No! This is a scam, you just tell us what we want to hear and you don't know anything about us or our future."
"I assure you this is not a scam, if you believe I read your future wrong I can try again."
Pierre felt uneasy at the desperation of the woman's voice, he had heard that desperation countless times before, in the voice of every akuma he has ever faced. "Come on, Lee. Let's just give it another go-"
"Why? So you can hear about your fantastic future without me?"
Fear flashed through Lee's eyes as the words left her mouth, she instantly calmed down as if cold water was thrown on the flame. Pierre shook his head, "Lee, Madame O'Dear never said anything about you not being in my future. She only said that I would find lov..."
Pierre stopped, he had to stop. The fear in Lee's eyes was becoming unbearable. Did Lee love him? Is that why she was so upset about him finding love? No, no way! Lee is dating May.
"Lee!" May cried as Pierre spotted the akuma behind her.
Madame O'Dear ran in front of Lee, "No!"
"Ophelia Dear, I am Mariposa."
