Chapter Ten: Jealousy At Its Finest
Malia's Pov
After leaving the alien's spaceship the three of us were teleported back to Seabrook.
Once we were back Addison released a sad sigh as she turned to look at Zed and I.
I frowned when I saw that tears were threatening to spill, but she was holding them in.
"The aliens won't accept me. I may be part alien, but I'm still totally alone" Addison said, clearly upset.
"Addison, because of you, no one in Seabrook ever has to feel alone. You made this a place for people to call home" Zed softly said.
"Yeah, Addy. Remember when I teleported here I was badly injured before you came and helped me. I explained my history to you and you accepted me right away and you've supported me ever since and made me feel like I belong here" I explained.
Zed nodded in agreement before holding his hands out for her.
Addison glanced at the both of us before sighing as she placed her hands into his.
"I'll still help the aliens find the map to their new home" Addison said.
"I'll help too" I nodded, placing my hand on her shoulder.
"Good. And whatever happens, you have to go to Mountain College whether I get in or not. It doesn't matter how far away we are from each other. We will always be together" Zed explained.
This made Addison smile at him as I patted his shoulder.
"You'll do great on your interview tomorrow" I smiled.
"I better. Everyone's counting on me to be the first zombie to go to college" Zed lightly chuckled.
"You're not alone either, Zed.
"Come on. Lets head home, we're all exhausted" I said.
Zed and Addison chuckled before nodding their heads in agreement.
And with that the three of us were off.
Back At Home
I smiled as I gently tucked Emily into her bed. I watched as her chest went up and down as she peacefully slept.
Missy told me she had an amazing time today, they went to lots of places together, but she also tired herself out.
Which makes sense, given that they came back a few minutes after Addison and I did.
I leaned down to place a soft kiss to her forehead.
"Goodnight, princess. Sweet dreams" I whispered.
I ran my hand through her hair before quietly walking out of her room.
I quietly closed her bedroom door, not wanting to wake her up, before making my way into Addison's room.
"Hey" I smiled as I walked inside.
"Hey. Is Emily asleep?" Addison asked.
"Yeah, she's out like a light" I giggled.
Addison giggled with me before I sat down behind her on her bed.
I looked down at her bed and saw her looking through pictures of her and her grandmother when she was little.
Addison chuckled softly while I softly smiled.
Reminds me of all the pictures mom took of Audrey, Grammy and I when we were little.
"Where did you hide the map, grandma" Addison muttered.
She then took out the luma lens and smiled when a tiny bit of power came out from it.
Addison and I looked at each other and smiled before she went back to looking at the luma lens.
There was a knock at the door, causing Addison to jump before she quickly hid the luma lens under her pillow.
I sighed before wrapping my arms around Addison as I rested my chin on her shoulder. Addison giggled before placing her hands on top of my arms.
The door opened and Missy walked in, wearing her pijamas.
She smiled at both of us as she walked further into the room and sat on the edge of Addison's bed.
"Mom, where was Grandma Angie from?" Addison asked.
I could see some hesitation in Missy's eyes before she sent Addison a small smile.
"Seabrook, dear. Born and raised. Why?" Missy asked.
"Because, uh...never mind" Addison shook her head, sending her mother a small smile.
Missy stared at her before nodding her head.
"We should head to bed, it's getting late, big day tomorrow" I said.
"Yes, you're right" Missy nodded.
"Goodnight, mom" Addison smiled.
Missy leaned in to give her forehead a kiss before embracing me in a hug.
I smiled and hugged her back before we pulled away.
"Goodnight, sweetie. Goodnight, Malia" Missy smiled at both of us.
Missy got up from the bed and walked towards the door.
When the door closed I let out a sigh before unwrapping my arms from Addison.
"Well, I should head to bed too, I'm getting a bit tired" I said.
I patted Addison's head and stood up from the bed.
But just before I could make my way to the door and leave, Addison grabbed my hand, stopping me.
"Wait, Malia" Addison said.
I turned around to look at her and furrowed my eyebrows together.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Can I ask you something?" Addison asked.
"Yeah, you know you can always ask me anything" I nodded.
Addison sighed before releasing my arm.
She looked down at her lap, playing with her fingers, she seemed nervous.
I grew concerned when she didn't say anything for a good few seconds.
I opened my mouth to ask what was wrong when Addison picked her head up and spoke up.
"Does it bother you?" Addison suddenly asked.
The question alone made me furrow my eyebrows at her, clearly confused.
"Does what bother me?" I asked.
"Me being part alien. Does it bother you?" Addison asked, looking at me in worry.
My eyes widen in realization before they softened.
I sighed and walked back over to the bed. I sat down in front of Addison and gently took her hands into mine.
This made her look up at me and I sent her a gentle smile, caressing her hands.
"Addy, I've wanted nothing more than for you to figure out where you belong since the day we met. And now that you've finally found a place where you belong, I couldn't be any happier. I don't care that you're an alien. As far as I'm concerned you're still my best friend, my sister, I'll always love you" I softly smiled.
At this Addison allowed small tears to escape her eyes and stream down her cheeks.
Her lips trembled before she wrapped her arms around me. I chuckled softly before wrapping my arms around her.
I gently rubbed her back up and down, letting her cry on my shoulder.
"Thank you, Malia. For always being there for me and supporting me every step of the way" Addison whispered.
"Of course. Like I said you're my best friend, my sister. I love you no matter what you decide" I whispered back.
I smiled when I heard her release a laugh as she hugged me a bit tighter.
We remained that way for a good minute before we pulled away.
"Well, like you said, it's getting late. We should go to bed" Addison said.
"Yeah" I nodded.
Addison wiped her tears away with her hands before smiling at me.
"Thank you, again, for accepting me for who I am. You're the best" Addison said.
"Anything for you, Addy" I smiled.
I leaned in to give her a sisterly kiss on the cheek before standing up from her bed.
"Goodnight" I said.
"Goodnight, Malia" Addison said.
I turned around and opened the door before walking out, closing it behind me.
I walked down the hallway before making it to my room. I opened the door and walked inside.
Once I closed the door I leaned my back against the door, allowing a sigh to escape my lips.
I'm so tired that I just want to sleep. Sleep is what I need.
However, before I could get in bed, I looked up and furrowed my eyebrows together when I saw that my bedroom window was slightly open.
That's weird. I remember closing it before I left for school.
I was about to walk towards it, only to gasp and turn around when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
The fear inside me died down when I saw Wyatt behind me.
I sighed in relief before glaring at him, I shrugged his hand off of me before hitting his chest.
"Wyatt, don't do that, you almost gave me a heart attack" I said, clearly annoyed.
"Sorry baby, I just wanted to surprise you" Wyatt chuckled.
"A good surprise or a startled surprise" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I mean, you can count it however you want to but it really was supposed to be a good surprise" Wyatt shrugged.
I fondly rolled my eyes at him before wrapping my arms around him, burying my face into his chest.
Wyatt chuckled before wrapping his arms around me, placing a gentle kiss to my forehead.
"I've missed you, babe" I softly said.
"I've missed you too. It feels like we haven't seen each other in a while" Wyatt sighed.
"Yeah, but considering I've gotta practice for the cheer off it makes sense. And you along with the other werewolves have been helping Zed, especially since his interview is tomorrow" I explained.
Wyatt sighed and nodded his head.
He unwrapped his arms around me and I walked over to my bed and sat down.
"This interview has to go well. This is Zed's last chance to get into Mountain College so that way the other zombies and werewolves can get in" Wyatt said.
I nodded my head, clasping my hands together.
"Zed is gonna nail the interview tomorrow, I know he will" I said.
I'm confident that my best friend is gonna nail this interview.
And when he does not only does he get to go to college, but all the other zombies and werewolves.
"Well, moving on from that, how was cheer practice?" Wyatt asked.
"Really good, though it was hard. Addison and I decided that we're both gonna do the triple hip-hop double tuck lindy" I explained.
Wyatt's eyes widened and I can see shock and worry course through them.
"Are you serious?" Wyatt asked.
"Dead serious" I nodded.
"Baby, that move is impossible, I may not know much about cheerleading but I do know that that move in particular is hard. People get seriously injured when trying to nail it" Wyatt explained, clearly worry shown in his tone.
"I get that, but as long as we work hard and not give up, we'll be fine. Besides, it has to be Addison and I who does that move, we're the best cheerleaders on the team" I explained.
Wyatt sighed and scooted closer to my side, gently taking my hand into his.
"I'm not happy about this, but I already know I can't stop you. So please just promise me that you'll be careful. Both you and Addison" Wyatt sternly but softly said.
I smiled softly at him and gave his hand a gentle kiss.
"I promise" I softly said.
"Good" Wyatt softly smiled.
"Oh and I forgot to mention that the aliens were also at cheer practice" I said.
It felt Wyatt's happy mood died down as soon as I mentioned the aliens.
Guess he's still a bit sour towards them. Great.
"Oh, well, how were they?" Wyatt asked, caressing the top of my hand.
"They were actually amazing. Their moves were great and they did awesome" I smiled.
"Didn't they use their alien powers to help them?" Wyatt asked, quite bitterly.
"I don't think so, I mean they might be using one power but that's just to help them levitate" I shrugged.
Wyatt let out a scoff at that, causing me to raise an eyebrow at him.
"Why can't they do it themselves instead of using their powers?" Wyatt bitterly asked.
"Wyatt, babe, come on. Everyone does cheerleading their own way. Besides they were really good, especially A-lan" I smiled.
Wyatt's eyes widened and I saw disbelief wash through his eyes.
I raised an eyebrow at him, confused, before he let out another scoff and shook his head.
"I should've known that blue haired alien was trying to get close to you. Now he's trying to impress you" Wyatt muttered angrily under his breath.
But I still heard him and let out a groan, throwing my head back.
Are we seriously still on this subject?
"Wyatt, come on" I sighed.
"No, A-lan has had his eyes set on you the minute him and his alien friends arrived. He's trying to impress you and it's annoying" Wyatt angrily said.
"That's not true, he's just being nice" I defended.
"Sure he is" Wyatt scoffed.
"Oh my god. How many times do I have to tell you that we're just friends?" I asked.
"Oh, so friends smile at each other everytime they see each other? Friends flirt with each other?" Wyatt.
"What flirting? I never flirted with him and he never flirted with me, I doubt he even knows what flirting is" I scowled.
I swear we must have woken everyone else up because of our loud argument.
But honestly I don't think either of us cared, at least not at the moment.
"Come on, Wyatt. You have to understand he's just a friend. I don't like him and he doesn't like me. I can assure you he doesn't like me" I calmly said.
I didn't want to argue with him. Not now, especially when there's still people here and they're trying to sleep.
"Please if anything he's always looking at you with love, and you don't seem to notice or you don't mind" Wyatt scoffed.
A small gasp escaped my lips as I stared at him in shock.
He didn't just say that.
I glared at him and snatched my hand away from him and harshly shoved him off my bed.
He stumbled back a bit but he managed to regain his balance and stand up.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you acting like this? You've never been like this before" I asked, or well, demanded.
"Well excuse me for being jealous when a certain alien boy could come in and take you away from me at any given moment!" Wyatt angrily yelled.
I flinched back in shock as eyes widened in disbelief.
Did he seriously just yell at me?
Wyatt has never yelled at me before, let alone sounded that angry.
Sure, before we've argued but it was over the smallest and stupidest things, plus we'd always apologize right after.
But this is different.
Wyatt's really, and seriously, jealous and angry, all because of A-lan.
Wyatt clenched his eyes shut and looked down at the ground, his fists still clenched at his sides.
I opened my mouth to say something when he finally looked up, but his eyes never met mine.
"I should go, it's late, big day tomorrow" Wyatt calmly said, still avoiding eye contact with me.
"Wyatt" I sighed.
I couldn't just let him leave, especially when we still had to talk, but he quickly pecked my forehead before walking towards the window.
I got up from my bed to try and stop him but he had already jumped out of the window once he opened it.
I watched as he landed on the ground before running off into the woods to head back to the wolf den.
A groan of annoyance escaped my lips as I quickly closed my window and walked back to my bed.
I plopped down onto my bed and hid my face into my pillows and let out a loud frustrated scream.
Great. Just great.
