Prologue

Hattie was taken straight to St Mungo's hospital. She was so ill that there was no way that she would be leaving the hospital walls anytime soon. It seemed that over than the ministry, the hospital and aurors were few of the only wizarding jobs that stayed working for the few months after the war. Most people were chipping in to help rebuild Hogwarts, rebuild the ministry and aid recovery of families that had been ripped apart by the war.

This meant that Charlie was granted as much leave as he needed in order to help Hattie. Gilbert made sure that he and other dragon tamers could cover Charlie's work because they knew that the girl would need as much comfort and help as she could get.

Unlike last time, nobody stayed with Hattie at the hospital giving her the space she needed but she still had 24/7 watch from the healers. This time, despite it being a mental and physical struggle, she was trying her damn hardest to get better. It wasn't that simple. Even she knew that.

From her past relapses, she knew it was going to be taxing. The hardest part being the eating. Hattie found it so difficult to swallow even minor chunks of bread. Her throat was raw and her stomach had shrunk severely meaning she couldn't eat much anyway.

It surprised Hattie how patient everyone was being. Nobody was shouting or pressurising her to do more than she could handle. Everyone was being tender and gentle trying to make the best out of such a horrible situation.

What she didn't know was why they were acting this way. They were ecstatic to have her back, safe and sound. Sirius was keeping a watchful eye on her and acting like the father he wished he had, similar to Fleamont Potter and Lyall Lupin, the type of father he wanted to always be to Hattie but wasn't actually.

Remus was always by his side. Both him and Sirius worked together to aid Hattie's recovery and treat her the way that she deserved. The two men were no longer fighting. Well, Sirius no longer hated Remus for not telling him right away about Hattie. For Hattie loving Remus more than him at one point. After all, Remus is the kind of man Sirius wanted to be; kind, gentle, loving and snuggly - the perfect father.

As for Charlie, Hattie had daily cuddles with him. He would read Peter Pan and other books to her, they would play chess and other games. Or sometimes they would just talk. The man cried sometimes during the night thinking about Hattie, how she looked when she first came back to them. He couldn't imagine what she had been through in those two years and he had repeated nightmares too.

It got to the point where Remus found out and let the man stay at the Marauders' house in Hattie's room as a way of comforting him. No one questioned Remus' decision because they were aware of Charlie and Hattie's bond and how much Charlie was affected by the girls' problems.

Regulus also lived with them, in one of the spare rooms and it was strange to see the two brothers relationship reform and blossom. Surprisingly, Regulus was a very talented cook and made exquisite dinners for the household, often taking some for Hattie been as hospital food was dire and he actually wanted her to eat again.

Hattie loved getting to know her biological uncle, and despite them being dark and gloomy, he told Hattie of his past memories and what happened to him. She listened to him carefully, he told stories very well even though they were quite often terrible. A lot of the time Sirius told him to not tell the girl, forgetting that she was nearly eighteen due to the striking amount of naivety she still held. Hattie opposed all of the time to this, she had experienced wars with herself and despite it not being exactly the same, sometimes she felt similar to the way Regulus did back then.

As for Seamus, that was a different story. Neither had spoken about their relationship if there was still one between the two of them. Seamus had visited Hattie a few times, spending a few hours at the hospital with her playing card games together like the did back in the hospital wing.

He continued to crack jokes trying to lighten the mood and cheer Hattie up; often it worked. Hattie would giggle and snigger at his words and it baffled her as to just how much he had changed in two years. He definitely had grown up, his jaw was more define and his voice slightly deeper. He even had to shave! This was not the boy Hattie had fallen for. Seamus was now a man. A beautiful one at that.

And even though Hattie had dramatically changed physically, Seamus still found her gorgeous. He enjoyed seeing her smile and regain strength day by day. It was amazing to have her back in the flesh, but it would be a long road until they truly got Hattie back for good.
