"Hello?" Rap Monster said.
"Hey, Jungkook. Listen. We need to talk—," a different person replied, "and don't even think about hanging up or else I will go to your dorm and hunt you down!"
Rap Monster quickly pulled the phone away from his ear and put the call on speakerphone. They all began to listen in on what the caller was saying.
"Understand me, Jungkook-ah?" the person sternly continued.
"Who is this?" Jin asked.
The person on the other end suddenly stopped breathing and then took shallow inhales and exhales after hearing a different person. Jin inquisitively looked toward Suga who lethargically shrugged in response.
"B-Bangtan?" the person stuttered from the other end.
"Yes?" Rap Monster slowly said.
"Holy shit..."
"Listen, we're kind of busy right now, so, is this urgent?" Jin asked.
The person on the other end removed the phone from their face and began to mumble nearly inaudible words.
"Fuck! Why the hell didn't I do this sooner?" the person muttered from the other end. "Fuck..."
"Hello?" Suga raised his voice.
The man put the phone back up to his face.
"Sorry," he said. "I...uh...listen, you guys got some free time today?"
"Well, we're going to get lunch within the next thirty minutes or so," Jin hesitantly answered.
"Listen, I've only got a few more hours until I have to leave for London. I've been meaning to give something to Jungkook before I left for Europe, but...I guess he left first."
"Aigoo! The media must've already spread the news... So you've heard..."
"No. I just assumed."
Jin looked at his dongsaengs and mouthed the word "assumed" in a questioning tone. This person just "assumed" it happened?, he thought.
"Who are you?" Suga asked.
"The name's Isaac Young. I went to SOPA with Jungkook for a short time, but I was never really that close to him—not as close as Park Miso."
"Alright, Isaac. Where do you want to meet?" Rap Monster asked.
"There's a Starbucks in the subway station near SOPA. You can't miss it; it's the largest restaurant there. Meet me there when you can before 15:30 PM."
Suddenly, the phone call ended. Rap Monster put the phone down. He tossed it onto the table and he sighed. Jimin stared at Jungkook's phone as it returned to the lock screen after the call ended. He simply stared at the photo of G-Dragon that Jungkook changed every month. Jimin could recall the time when Jungkook explained his love for G-Dragon and how he couldn't pick just one picture of G-Dragon for his lock screen.
"He's got a lot of weird friends," Suga said.
"Let's just hope these 'weird friends' can help us," Rap Monster muttered.
"In that case, shouldn't we be reading the next entry?" J-Hope said.
Jin nodded in agreement and then opened the journal. He flipped through the tattooed pages until reached the next entry: December 5, 2013.
"Everything's okay. Everything's bearable, I suppose. It could be a little better, but I don't want to complain. It's okay for now. The year's coming to an end. School has been okay. It's the same every day. I get up, go to school, maybe eat a little breakfast before I leave, get teased, go to class, and then come back to rehearse, work on the upcoming album, or something related to Bangtan.
Still, no Park Miso. It's like she's disappeared into thin air. I don't see her at school anymore. But I know she still goes there. I hear guys talking about her all the time. She definitely has a lot of admirers... I'm just one of the million.
Anyway, I'm putting a lot of my time towards Bangtan. I've been trying to make bonds with my hyungs. Jimin-hyung likes to hang with me in our free time. I've kind of forgotten about the thing with Daesul and Jimin, but it still comes back every now and then. Sometime I like being with Jimin-hyung, but other times, not so much. Sometimes I'll just screw around with him and see what he'll do. He's pretty lenient with me. I purposely call him 'Jimin' and not 'Jimin-hyung' or 'hyung' to play around him and he just plays it off like nothing happened. He's great.
But I really like to hang around V-hyung. He's our 4D alien. (He doesn't like being called an alien, though.) He's the closest in age to me, so he's the one I can relate to the most out of all of my hyungs. We watch Attack on Titan and some Marvel movies together. We also play some games. He's like my older brother to me in Bangtan. As for Jimin-hyung, he's kind of like my little brother. He's kind of always around asking me questions and in a playful mood 24/7.
As for my other hyungs, I can see Jin-hyung as being the mom, obviously. He's kind of like our caretaker. He's always telling us to clean up our beds and organize our things. Also, he cooks almost all of our meals. He has a blog where he consistently updates recipes, reviews, and other food-related topics. Apparently, it's a very popular blog.
Suga-hyung is like the dad of Bangtan. He's the only hyung that can really talk to us harshly if we, dongsaengs, do something wrong. But he's also very supportive and knowledgeable. He's a generous mix of all of my hyungs now that I think about it. Jin-hyung and he are the eldest in the group, so I guess it makes sense for them to be the 'parents' of Bangtan, right? (Yeah, that makes sense.)
Hopie-hyung...he's kind of like...hm...well, he is the most optimistic out of Bangtan. It's kind of weird for me to say this, but he reminds me of my cat, Cloud, at home. Cloud always cheered me up when I got home from school. Cloud's getting old now. I'm not sure how much longer he'll be around, but he's had a good life. Anyway, I guess Hopie-hyung is like a pet to me. He's very playful and happy. Like he always says, he's the 'hope' in our lives.
RapMon-hyung is really smart. He's fluent in English, has an IQ of 140 or something, studied overseas, and is self-teaching himself Japanese. Out of anyone in Bangtan, I would go to RapMon-hyung for advice. He seems really wise, although he can be really naïve like the rest of us. I'm not sure what family member hyung would be. Maybe he's my second older brother? Cousin? (Yeah, that sounds fair.) In some aspects, he's kind of ideal to me. It's kind of ironic, though, because he calls me the 'Golden Maknae', which implies that I'm an all-rounder and perfect. Hell, I am so not perfect!
Park Miso is perfect.
If I'm 'perfect person', then everyone else must be Gods and Goddesses or something. I'm not that smart, nor am I remotely handsome. I'm not a great dancer like Hopie-hyung nor an amazing chef like Jin-hyung. I'm not good at expressing myself or caring for others like Jimin-hyung and V-hyung. I'm just...'average' I guess.
But other than that, the company is letting us visit with our families for a week around the end of December. I'm excited to go back home! I'll be able to say goodbye to my brother before he leaves for the army and I'll see my parents again. I'm kind of worried, though. The army sounds frightening and seeing my brother go away to do his service makes me anxious. He's my older brother, my hyung. He's my best friend and one of my worst enemies. I love him. He's wise and experienced. Hopefully after his service, he and my parents can come to one of our concerts. No one in my family has ever been to one of my concerts yet. They're all very busy. Besides, I want to master my craft before they all see it. I want to put on the perfect performance for them and make it special!" Jin read.
Immediately after he finished, he shoved the book into Suga's hands and ushered him to continue into the next entry. Their dongsaengs had no time to express their thoughts on Jungkook's writing.
"I'm currently the happiest I've ever been in a while. I'm on break and away from my hyungs and with my family. There's not much for me to write about, so I guess I'll make this shorter than normal.
My parents were happy for me. They loved how I was chasing after my dreams and wanted me to keep going. My brother was proud of me too. My grandparents were also proud, but out of everyone in my family, my brother was the most supportive.
I've spent the majority of my break with him. I've told him about Daesul and Miso. He gave me some good advice. I told him how I've just been ignoring the situation and he thinks I'm doing to right thing. He's a good brother. We went to get ice cream together and played video games together. It's nice being able to talk and spend time with him. When I was younger, we were always fighting. But now, I guess we've both matured. We're friends. Sometimes enemies, but that's rare. I'm so lucky to have a brother like him. He told me he would write letters to me as much as possible. I told him I'd do the same.
So, to my brother, saranghae! I'll miss you.
I've—," Suga read.
But then he stopped. Everyone looked at him and he stared at the tattooed page. He turned it over in confusion, but he kept a straight face.
"'I've' what?" Jimin asked.
"That's it," Suga replied.
"What do you mean?" V looked at his hyung.
"That's it. That's the end of the entry."
"No...," Jin muttered and then looked over Suga's shoulder. "No! There's got to be more!"
"There isn't. See?"
Suga held the blank pages in front of his hyung's face as the room fell silent. Jin fell back in his chair letting out an audible sigh. He felt defeated, Aish...this kid...
"This sucks," J-Hope sighed. "I guess the only other outlet we have is with that Isaac guy."
"Maybe...," Jin said.
"I'm hesitant to meet that guy," Jimin said. "He seems...strange."
"How so?" V looked at him.
"I feel like Jungkook would've heard something about him by now in his entries."
"Maybe they didn't meet until the end of the year. Or the next school year."
Jimin's eyes remained fixed on V as the Bangtan Boys continued to devise a plan. What is up with him? He's never this dramatic; he's always so carefree and easy to talk to, he thought, Is there just a lot of emotions firing all at once because of Jungkook or did I really do something wrong to him? Aigoo...
What the hell is going on between those two?, J-Hope looked between the two dongsaengs, Could there be a rivalry between them that the rest of us don't know about?
"Okay. It's settled," Rap Monster said. "We'll get the food while you guys meet up with Isaac. We'll catch up with you guys and Isaac."
"Wait, what?" Jimin was shaken out of his thoughts.
"Were you not listening at all?" Suga murmured in aggravation.
"Mianhae..."
"Rap Monster, Suga, and I are going to buy some food for all of us," Jin explained. "J-Hope, V, and you are going to meet up with Isaac. We'll catch up with you guys later."
"Oh. Okay."
"Alright. Let's go," Rap Monster ushered everyone out of the room.
Jimin waited for everyone to leave before he stood up. He stared at the red journal Suga left on the table along with the bag of objects Jin brought with him. Jungkook's phone lain there glistening under the artificial lighting. He just exchanged looks with the phone, oddly gazing down at it.
"Jimin!" J-Hope shouted from out in the hallway.
He turned his head and then began to reluctantly make his way toward the door. But he stopped in his tracks as he stood directly under the door frame and turned back toward the sleeping Jungkook.
"Don't worry, Jungkookie!" Jimin whispered. "We'll be back before you know it!"
Jimin dashed down the hallway to where J-Hope and V were impatiently waiting for him. Then, they split from their other band members and began to search for Isaac Young.
