Never Very Good

Nathaniel:

I sit in the court of law and watch my brothers, Ames and Mike try and argue against each other to be leader.

It's quite boring. Even if Ames is a lawyer, Mike will still win. Ames is quite bright and clever, but he doesn't have the votes to win.

I watch as Aspen counts up each vote that gets end in by letter. She is the most honest out of anyone. We all know she won't cheat in favor of Luke, who has been flirting with her like there is no tomorrow.

"What are you going to do if another rises up and tries to overtake you?" Ames argues. "What about the rebels? I don't see you doing anything against them."

"Until the rebels start making a threat, I won't do a thing." Mike snaps.

Luke coughs his threat.

"I mean-" Mike changes his words. "We are already doing all we can."

If only those two knew I was part of the rebels. I kept wondering where Azun could possibly be?

The debate ended at the hour and as Ames was packing up his notes, I walked over to him.

"You aren't going to win." I stated.

"Well that's encouraging." Ames snapped his brief case shut.

"You need votes." I commented as we walked out of the room together. "You are going to need approval from the people to get the votes, nobody even knows you. You are like a rock compare to Mike, who is a fire."

I hissed, pressing on my head. I caught a glance of a barn, burnt to the crisp. What the heck?

Ames ran away from me, straight to Luke before he left out the door. I could of barely head them talk if they whispered, but Ames was panicked and practically yelled, his voice echoing across the empty room.

"Luke, he is scratching his own wall." Ames panted.

Something was wrong, but I didn't have he slightest clue what.

"Don't worry about it." Luke snapped. "Why don't you focus on your campaign instead of a wall that won't fall down by itself. I did my job, I am the best surgeon in the galaxy. Do you think I made a mistake?"

"No."

"Of course." Luke spat as he left with Mike.

The only remaining people in the room were me, Dustan and Ames.

Ames looked at Dustan, his eyes trying to tell him something. What happened while I was in the coma? Ames was a complete different person. I had only been awake for about a week and I haven't seen Ames get drunk on soda. This is all so confusing.

"Dustan." Ames dropped his case and ran to him. "I don't know what to do. It-" Ames festered to me with his eyebrows. "-is a splitting image of you-know-who."

"Ames." Dustan snapped. "On our own time. Let's go."

Ames huffed. Something was bothering him.

"And Nathaniel." Dustan turned to me as he left with Ames. "How about you take a break from that job Luke gave you?"

"I can't." I whispered as they left.

I had papers piled up to my waist in my office, all with idea about how to get my brother elected. Nothing was working, nothing was making any sense. I had to figure this out so we stood a chance. If Mike won, the rebels would all be dead.

All my siblings were off at dinner, that I very much needed, I have never needed a break more then I did now. I should of listened to Dustan's advice.

I haven't slept all night. My stress just needed to be released, if not I was going to flip my lid on the next person I meet. I will take it out on them, I placed my head on my desk. That was when I heard the door open and Scarlett Taurus walked into my office front door.

"I'm sorry sir." She spake to me, playing with her gloves, sliding them off her hands. "I don't know where to go, and I came here all alone."

I glanced up at her. She wore a short dress, exposing her bare legs and thighs. It was the middle of winter, what was she doing dressed like that out in the snow? Her dress had cuts at the side, showing me parts of her stomach. I felt uncomfortable around this women.

"I know your a man of honor." She spake. "A gentleman, a polished man, a fine man."

"Do you need money for a cab?" I asked her. "I have twenty bucks here if you need it."

"It's my boyfriend." She said. "He is mistreating me, abusing me, neglecting me. He left me here, all alone. I thought some guys were following me and I don't want to go home all alone."

"May I walk you home?" I asked, being a good Zodiac.

"You're too kind sir." She followed by my side.

I opened the door for her, I walked with her down the road, she lived less then a block away. I was taught my Azun to be a gentleman, walk a lady home so she be safe. To be a man of honor, to be a kind person. She lived to close to the station. It was strange she stoped to get help.

"This one is mine." She stoped me at her front door.

"Well I better get going." I stepped away from her. "Glad you made it home safely and if those guys come back, you call. I got to get home."

She grabbed my hand, my faces turned red, she pulled me inside the doorway and ran he fingers in my shoulder. She was a very short girl, shorter then me. Her fingers were long and knew right where to press against my shirt.

"Won't you stay?" She cooed, grabbing a bottle of wine from a rack behind her.

"Hey...." I couldn't help but look her in the eyes, being mesmerized by the swirling rainbow colors. "I don't drink."

I remember the gift of rainbow eyes, much like a snake can hypnotize. But I don't quite remover that detail at the moment, I'm more focused on the colors.

She lead me to her room, which held a queen size bed. She laid across the mattress poured each of us drink.

"I don't drink." I placed my cup on the side table.

"Hey." She ran her fingernails across my jawline. "How about you...." She ran her fingers around the buttons on my shirt.

My throat was dry. I didn't know what to say to her, but her eyes were so beautiful. I thought of what I wanted to do and what Azun would do. I wanted to leave this place, but Azun never taught me how to leave a women.

What would Azun do here?
How would he say no to her?
What would he do to her?
How could he leave her?

She ran her fingers across my face, moving closer with each second passing. Then her lips were on mine, her tongue licking my own, her fingers across my body, my hands went to her slits on her waist. It felt comfortable to do.

Azun, how can I say no to this? I don't know how to say no to her. But she looked so defenseless. Azun, I wish you taught me what to do. My mind is saying: YES! By I know Azun would just say no.

"Oh!" She sighed, her fingers moved across my waistline. "You are to modest sir."

Say no to her! My brain commanded me.
I don't know how to say no. My mind was trying to get me to let go, I need to get out out of here, but I just couldn't go. Her mouth is on mine, biting my lip and I don't say no. I don't say no to her, I don't say no to this, I don't say no, I don't go. I stay. Because I have no clue what to do in a situation like this one.
