Chapter 6
I sat, staring into space, not being able to really think straight. I do t know why I seemed to loose the ability of thought but I did.
"Yo, loser." A familiar voice spoke. Elijah walked through the coffee shop towards me.
"Sup d*ckwad." I nod at him.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Does it really matter?" I ask in an annoyed tone, closing my laptop the tiniest bit.
"Well, I'm just curious." Elijah shrugs, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Essay on the history of film."
"Wait... what are you majoring in?"
"Film and literature."
"Oh okay."
"What do you do?"
"Coding and video game design."
"Huh."
"Oh, did you know that Denis is going here for Video Game design, Engineering and Computer science?" Elijah comments.
"Really?"
"Yeah. That's why people actually rarely see him. He's got a bunch of classes and then Basketball every day."
"Dang. I've got like two classes on every Monday Wednesday and Friday."
"Same."
"Oh, You probably know this but Amie is here for Fashion design and engineering?"
"I actually didnt know that."
"Yeah. Her room has so much sewing stuff I'm afraid to go in there in fear of stepping on a needle."
"Oh, Ethan is here for Coding and CGI video editing."
"I didnt know that."
"Yeah. He want to be one of the people who puts CGI in movies and stuff."
"Huh. Oh, Sub goes here for Video game design and Engineering."
"I think I knew that one but not like entirely, yknow?"
"Yeah like when you know something in the back of your mind?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, by any chance do you know what Denis' friend from that other collage is studying?" I ask. Elijah gulped thickly and rubbed his hand on his shorts nervously.
"W-who are you talking about?"
"Calm down, I know." I shrug.
"Know what?"
"Denis is a raging bisexual and is dating one gay boy." I take a sip of my coffee.
"Oh okay, I panicked for a second."
"Yeah, no. It's all good."
"Wait, why do you know?"
"Well, We kinda ran into each other here, Denis Alex and I. And you kinda put two and two together when Denis calls purple haired British boy "Babe" y'know. And Alex and I are pretty good friends now so that's also a thing."
"Huh. But I'm pretty sure Alex major's in Theater and Art."
"Oh, that's cool."
"Honestly, I'm surprised the entire campus doesnt know about them yet. They're kinda obvious."
"Are they?"
"Yeah like, you'll see Denis walking around Campus with this random purple haired boy with glasses with his arm around his shoulders."
"You may have a point."
"Like, look out around campus and you may see them. Its surprising that everybody doesnt know."
"Huh."
"Do you have any pets? Like your family, do they have pets?"
"We've got a dog named Max."
"What breed?"
"German shepherd."
"All German Shepherds look the same. Dont even come at me, bro."
"They- they really do." I nod, scrolling through my essay, fixing some punctuation and spelling errors along the way.
"Kinda like how all the cheerleaders look the same." Elijah comments and I almost spit out my coffee.
"Dude!" I laugh quietly.
"What? Its true!" He reasons.
"Isnt your girlfriend a cheerleader?"
"I mean... she isnt really my girlfriend." Elijah admits.
"What?"
"Its like a thing where she asked me out and I would feel bad if I didnt accept and It was just a hard situation. That's why I've had so many girlfriends 'n' stuff." Elijah sighs.
"But rejecting them there would be better than breaking their heart down the line." I point out.
"Yeah I know but I dont think sometimes and go with what my heart says and say yes and then later, I try to let them down gently but I think they make a huge deal out of it and just," Elijah sighed, "I dont know, man."
"Damn." I shrug and lean back in my seat.
"Yeah. Like honestly, for once I wish I could have a normal relationship or just be alone with out girls being like "Hey you wanna go out" every five minutes."
"Dang. That's some stuff right there." I shrug.
"Spose so, yeah."
"How long have you and Cayla been dating?"
"Dunno. Like... two weeks." Elijah shrugs tiredly.
"Bro, if you wrent happy, just break up with her honestly."
"Should I?"
"Yeah if you dont like her you shouldnt be with her." I shrug.
"You think?"
"Yeah, man." I shrug.
The bell to the shop rang and both me and my slightly annoying acquaintance turned to the door where Cayla walked in, hair perfectly curled, exaggerated eye makeup, shiny red lip gloss.
"Speak of the Devil."
"Why is she so..."
"Fancied up?"
"Yeah that works."
"Oh! Hey, Eli!" Cayla calls, walking over after ordering her coffee. Elijah winced at the nickname.
"I hate that so much." He shakes his head.
"What? Eli?"
"Yeah. Just... ew."
"Dont you like Lije?"
"Yeah."
"So, What's up?" Cayla asks flirtatiously.
"The sky." I interject.
"That was smart." Elijah points at me, nodding. Cayla gives me a pointed look.
"Who is she?"
"Your friendly neighborhood sarcastic b*tch." I salute at her.
"Yeah, that." Elijah agrees with me.
"But... who is she?"
"We told you this-"
"Her name!"
"YN LN." I tell her my name, raising an eyebrow.
"Aka, Sarcastic b*tch." Elijah adds on to my statement.
"That is also correct, yes." I nod.
"I've never seen you before." Cayla tries to sound nice but fails.
"Maybe because nobody gives a f*ck about my existence." I shrug.
"That might be on overstatement-" Elijah objects before I cut him off, holding my hand up,
"Did I stutter?"
"Fair." Elijah shrugs.
"No but like... you actually go here?"
"Yes. I have been for two years." I nod exaduratedly.
"Whatever." Cayla rolls her eyes. I purse my lips and turn to look at Elijah with a look that said 'Really? Her? It had to be her?' Elijah just shrugged it a look on his face that was kinda apologetic and 'I dont know!'
"Uhm, Cayla, I was actually kinda wondering if I could talk to you?" Elijah stands up and leads Cayla away. In a few minutes I see her angrily storm out of the building. Elijah came back to our table with an exasperated expression.
"Girls are too much trouble, man."
"Fact. What happened?"
"I was like "So like, I dont really like you anymore" and broke up with her and she goes "This is because of that little b*tch you were talking to, isnt it!? You know what, I'm breaking up with you first because you're just a cheater" and she left." Elijah explains in a valley girl voice.
"I mean..." I just shrug.
"I'm not doing girlfriends again." Elijah shales his head.
"Good choice."
