Chapter 16

"No, keep, playing with my hair."
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I dont want to, lije." I roll my eyes. In response my boyfriend fell into me, probably with the intent of crushing me into the arm in the couch.
"Play with my hair."
"Why?"
"Because it feels nice."
"You are the dumbest person I know."
"Im the dumbest person I know so i dont know why you're trying to tell me something I already know."
"God, you're the worst."
"Yet you're still my girlfriend. What's up with that?" Elijah asks in a teasing tone.
"Stop being cute."
"Ooh, I'm cute?"
"Wha- Theres a reason you're popular, Elijah."
"Um, that's rude."
"Its fact."
"Play with my hair."
"I have been for like 30 minutes. You play with my hair, swap."
"Fine."
I laid my head in Elijah's lap as he started to play with my hair as we mindlessly talked and jokingly insulted each other.
As if the universe had some stupid thing against Elijah and I, we heard the lock to my dorm room unlock and- let me tell you, we were 10 feet away from each other in like point five seconds, no joke.
See, I knew almost 200% that the rest if the group would be like,
"Wait no, that's not- no."
Because Elijah and I have a weird dynamic where we like each other but we constantly act like we're only friends because we want to tease the other, y'know? It's weird to explain. When it comes to Elijah I kinda think in feelings I spose. That's why no-one knows we're dating. Nobody knows.
Amie walked in, slightly shocked to see Elijah on the other side of the couch than me.
"Why are you here?"
"We were hanging out." Elijah answers quickly, his cheeks flaming up. He probably noticed this because he then put his hand over his face to make it less noticeable.
"That- why?"
See what I mean? Lije and I cant hang out with out someone saying "But Why?" Atleast in our imideate friend group. Denis and Alex would be chill because they havent really seen the stages of hate.
"Because we're friends?" I speak up.
"I know you've said that before but like... how are you friends?"
"He's chill. I'm chill. Its chill." I shrug nonchalantly, picking at a string on a pillow.
"I- okay, whatever." Amie shrugs before making a beeline for her room.
"Why cant we be friends with out someone saying "Why?"" Elijah asks.
"I dont know." I sigh and fall to my right, resting my head on Elijah's lap.

A few days later, Elijah and I were hanging out at the coffee shop in the lounge area. We were sitting next to each other, my chin resting on his shoulder as we wat hed Vine compilations on his laptop, each of us with a earbud in. Just chillin with our coffee. Unproblamatic, it was great wheeeennnn,
"Oh! Hey, YN!" The familiar voice Of Leo Vince spoke up from behind me.
I took my earbud out and turned my body to see Leo coming towards us and out of the corner of my eye I could see the panic on Elijah's face that became fear for some reason.
"Hey, Leo." I smile.
"Hows it been?"
"Pretty good, you?"
"Great, actually." He smiles, running him fingers through his hair.
Out of nowhere- I kid you not, litterally nowhere, Elijah decided to be a possessive, jealous little sh*t and he held my hand, lifted our entwined hands up to the edge of the beanbags pretty much just so that Leo would see. I hate him.
"Oh, Elijah, right?" Leo asks, turning to the easily jealous b*stard I call my boyfriend.
"Yep, Its uh, Leo, right?" Elijah replies in the same tone.
"Man, how long has it been?"
"Last time we talked was... two years ago?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"You two know each other?"
"Oh, uh yeah." Elijah nods.
"So, I heard you've become quite the lady killer, womanizer of you will."
"Not the best reputation. But I guess I made some big dating errors in the past." Elijah offers a stiff smile, obviously fake- well, at least I could tell it was fake.
"Any girlfriends lately?" Leo asks in a sort of smug, cocky tone.
Elijah kinda had to think about what Leo said for a second before holding up our intertwined hands, tapping on the back of my hand in a sort of annoyed, fidgety way.
"No, no I dont think so actually." Elijah says, his words litterally dripping in sarcasm.
So... obviously these two dont really get along.
"Hm, so uh, YN here is up for grabs."
"No because I'm not an object." I jump in, being- well yknow, a sarcastic little sh*t.
"You know what I mean." Leo chuckles, turning to me.
"But what if I didnt?"
"Whatever." Leo smiles and rolls his eyes playfully. I felt Elijah's grip tighten and his face became nervous and uneasy. "Doesnt matter anyways. I'm dating Cayla Brady now."
"R-Really?" Elijah asks, gulping thickly because... yknow, Cayla.
"Yup. Shes actually coming right now-"
"Hey Leo!" That voice is so just... -_-.
"Hey, babe." Leo smiles (Even wider this time) at the brunette coming our way. She full on scowled at me, narrowing her eyes and making a face of disgust.
"Why cant we just hang out?" Elijah groans under his breath.
"I know right."
"Hey, Disappointment, right?" Cayla asks, referring to my name.
"Uhm yes. I am a huge disappointment to everyone in my life." You can tell she got triggered that I answered so smoothly instead of getting flustered.
"You're not a disappointment." Lije pouts at me.
"No trust me, I am." Leo just kinda stepped back and watched the scene play out.
"So you two are together? You're dating my ex? That's kinda rude."
"B*tch you did the same thing." I stifle a laugh because how stupid is she? Like ( °_°)_/ ¿?¿? What?
"Ugh, whatever. Stay away from him." Cayla says, gesturing to Elijah.
"Hes my boyfriend, what are you gonna do about it?" I lean my head on Elijah's shoulder and kiss his cheek.
Cayla scowled at me before grabbing her boyfriends hand and storming away.
