Chapter 13
"Sup, losers." I groan, dropping my backpack by the door and walking into the living room of my dorm.
"Sup, idiot." Elijah responds in the same tone.
"I want to die." I deadpan and fall onto the couch.
"And why might that be?" Amie asks.
"Because big test in history class."
"Ooh, that's rough." Ethan comments.
"Yuh huh." I agree.
"Amie and I are gonna head out. I made dinner reservations." Ethan grabs Amies hand as they stand up a d leave the room with short goodbyes.
"So... what do you wanna do?" I ask, turning to the fluffy haired boy beside me.
"We could go to the place we went to last year." He shrugs. I nod,
"Yeah okay."
Same routine as last time, same time as well. We sat on the overhang as the water seemed to seep watercolor red and orange.
We sat there for a while, just talking until we laid down as stars started to speckle the sky. I started to mindlessly play with Elijah's hair as he picked at the grass by his hand. I sat up, crossed my legs and checked my phone where I had two notifications. Simply things from Instagram. I heard Elijah sigh and I turned to look at him out of curiosity.
He sat up and turned to face me as he too crossed his legs, picking at the small rubber bits that started to flake off of his flip-flops.
"Music?" I offer an earbud to him to which he accepted. Take it All Back by Judah and the Lion started playing. (This scene is better of you listen while reading in my opinion but you do you.)
Our gaze just happened to meet at the same time. His hazel eyes seeming to glitter under the night sky. He raised an eyebrow as if he was about to ask a question but couldnt quite say it. I looked down at our hands which were brushing. Just as I did this, Elijah slowly grabbed my hand. For some reason, I didnt object.
I looked back up at him, his eyes so beautiful looking, the hazel making his whole appearance look soft and warm. He let go of my hand and raised his hand to put it on my face. He hesitated before doing so, probably out of fear of being rejected. But, I let him.
We just kinda of stared at each other for a moment. Everything in my brain was telling me that this wasnt right, that I shouldnt be doing this but my heart disagreed, thumping out of my chest as Elijah gazed into my eyes.
Then something just seemed to click in both of our heads at the same time.
We both leaned forwards. I tilted my head against Elijah's hand by the time our noses were no more than half an inch apart.
Then he closed the gap. His lips met mine in a kiss that made my heart do flips in my chest, my stomach chalk full of butterflies and my mind race, mainly thinking about how soft Elijah's lips were.
He slowly pulled back and rested his forehead against mine.
"You're a liar." Was all I could say.
"What?" He asks, obviously confused.
"You totally like me." I smile to myself.
"Okay... I might have lied." He admits. I laugh quietly to myself. "What?"
"I owe Jackie 20 bucks in the afterlife," I pause for a second, "if that exists."
"You made a bet on if I like you or not?"
"Kind of yeah." I blush madly and scrunched my nose as Elijah's nose brushed mine. Elijah sighed happily.
"Well, considering I wasnt rejected in point five seconds makes me think that maybe- just a hypothetical question here- you'd be up to go out with me sometime?"
"I'll think about it." I reply in a teasing tone.
"C'mon, I'm putting my feelings out on the line here." He jokes.
"Well... what would we do?"
"Movie and dinner?"
"Basic."
"Yeah well I'm basic so I dont know." Elijah laughs quietly.
"Well... I dont know, man." I shrug, pulling my head back from Elijah's to look at him better. He did the same.
"I would say maybe coffee but you work there so I dont..." Elijah just kinda made a hand motion as a way of finishing his sentence.
"Just wanna go out for lunch?" I ask.
"Yeah sure. Olive Garden tomorrow at noon or whatever?" Elijah asks casually.
"I've got my theater tech class at 11 and I get out at 12:30. Wanna just skate over there afterwards?"
"Yeah. Sounds good."

"You have been overly happy for the whole morning. What's going on?" Amie asks.
"Nothing, I'm just having a good day." I lie.
"Oh really?" She asks skeptically, putting her hand on her hip.
"Yeah." I shrug nonchalantly, leaning back on the couch. I check the time on my phone. "Sorry, gotta head to class."

-A solid week later-
"Kinda wanna tell the group how I'm a raging bisexual who's dating the chaotic gay in the group." Denis tells me as we sat together in the coffee shop lounge, waiting for Alex to show up.
"I mean... you do you. And what are you talking about, Alex is the organized gay, Sub is the chaotic gay."
"True. I havent seen him in like a week, where did he go?" Denis asks.
"Oh, his sister's getting married back in England."
"He's from the UK?"
"Yeah but he was raised here for most of his life that's why he sounds mostly american."
"Huh... the more ya know."
"Yeah."
"Anyways-"
"You!" I hear Alex, who must've just arrived, exclaim from behind Denis. We both turn quickly to see him glaring at a girl who I knew was Denis' "Ex girlfriend"
"Alex right?" She asks, flipping her blonde hair in a sassy fashion.
"What are you doing walking over there?" Alex asks, realizing she was making a beeline for his man.
"Just wanna chat to Denis." She shrugs in a manner that was obviously kinda shoving the fact that she and Denis dating during a time period where Denis and Alex had broken up for like four months. Like, Eva (The girl) and Denis were dating for like six weeks.
"Uhm, I dont think that's necessary." Alex steps in front of her, speaking in a clipped tone.
I couldnt blame him for being jealous. Eva was beautiful. Wavy blonde hair, pretty blue eyes, freckles dotted her nose and she was fit considering she was the captain of the cheer team. And well, Denis swung for both teams.
"Oh, but it is." She purses her lips.
"No. It really isnt."
"Why do you care? You're just his best friend." Eva jabs him in the chest with her finger. You could tell he was biting his tongue, trying so hard not to correct her.
She pushed passed Alex and hurried towards us- Well, Denis. I was just there, watching this go down.
"Go away." Denis rolls his eyes at the cheerleader.
"C'mon, Debsy..." She pouts and leans over to try to look at him in the face better.
"Dont call me that." Denis looks away, staring intensly at his computer.
"But you've said it before, I'm pretty, you know it. And you're quite available to my knowledge."
"Seriously? Right in front of my salad?!" I reference a vine, making Denis stifle a laugh.
"You dont have a salad-"
"You uncultured swine." I interrupt her.
"What makes you think that you can talk to me like that?!" She exclaims.
"The fact that popularity doesn't matter and the fact that I'm probably smarter than you and will probably get a better job is very promising for my future unlike yours." I purse my lips.
"Damn." Alex comments from behind Eva.
"I wish I had your comebacks." Ddnis turns to me.
"I'm flattered."
"You shouldnt even be hanging out with him." Eva tries- key word tries- to sass me.
"Yet you should be? Last time I checked I'm his friend and you're not so I dont know how your logic is working." I shrug and go back to typing on my computer about the start of film in Hollywood.

Oof, I know that ending lowkey sucked but whatever, it's fine \(•_•)/
