can we meet again?

Samriddhi's Pov

Within the deadline, I completed all my work, and now I'm standing in front of Mr. Brown's office again, but this time I am not anxious. Confidently, I stepped forward.

I was going to ask the front desk lady when Mr. Smith came out of nowhere, "Good morning, Ms. Samriddhi. Please, this way."

"Good morning, Mr. Smith, right?"

That front desk lady was looking at me unbelievably when Mr. Smith escorted me.

I was entering the same elevator I took last time, but Mr. Smith told me to get in another one.

"Oh no, Ms. Samriddhi, this one is for employees; we are taking this one." He showed me by gesturing with his hand.

"I remember the last time I was told that this one was exclusive," I said.

"Yes, indeed. This one is exclusive for the boss and his guests." He said.

"I'm not his guest; I'm here because of my job." I replied. Before he could reply, we reached our floor, and the elevator opened with a ding.

"Please, this way, Ms. Samriddhi, the boss will join you in a moment." He said this while showing me the way to his cabin. Well, yes, I remember because the last time I came here was for an interview.

I'm waiting in his office when he enters his cabin with his secretary, Beck.
"I fucking clearly told you there was no appointment for today." He stopped for a second when he saw me. Then he concluded, "Go and clean up the mess you created." He told Beck, and then he greeted me with an annoying smile of his.

"Good morning, Ms. Samriddhi."

"Good morning, Mr. Brown." I replied professionally.

"Is the job done?" he asked me.

"Yes, Mr. Brown. The paperwork is complete; now I need signatures and some documentation from your employees....." He cuts me in the middle.

"Just tell Smith what needs to be done, and he'll handle it."

"No, it's my work..." again didn't let me complete.

"I know it is, but the last two days were more hectic than usual for you, so it's ok; Smith will take care of that. I appreciate how you managed to complete all of it in such a short time." He appreciated.

Then Mr.Smith came forward to ask me, and I told him every detail, to which he nodded and left.

After him, Beck came with a tray of beverages, placed it in front of me, and left.

Before I could say anything, he answered, "I don't know your taste, so I ordered one of each; please have whatever you like."

"It's a waste of money.".

"I have plenty of it."

"Of course you do, but there are plenty of people who don't even have a one-time proper meal, and you are wasting food."

"About that... Hummmm, what do you know about me?" He demanded it, looking straight into my eyes.

"Nothing and honestly not interested." I replied as calmly as I could.

He replied with a chuckle. "It's not going to be  waste; there are plenty of people who can have these, and about food, Ms. Samriddhi I know the value of food because other things are complementary, but food is a necessity. We all worked hard for food; we can live without other things, but not food." He replied while resting his arms on his desk. "I know millions of people are sleeping on an empty stomach, and I do whatever is in my hands to help them. See Ms. Samriddhi. I don't believe in charity, but I appreciate those who work hard and don't beg. So I expand my business so that I can generate employment. People can have work and run their families, educate their children."

I picked up a chocolate shake and muttered, "Thank you."

"My pleasure." he grinned.

I'm drinking my shake quietly, but his earlier words are still ringing in my head. He is a gentleman, despite the fact that his presence annoyed me.

"May I ask you something?" He asked

I want to say no, but right now I'm sitting in his office, and he is my client, so out of courtesy, I replied, "Yeah, But it depends on the question if I want to answer or not."

What? Don't judge me; I have to be prepared. I don't know what he'll ask.

He smiled and said, "Can we meet beside work or help your roommate with her assignments?"

Oh god, why?????????

"No," I replied without even thinking once.

"Why not?"

"I'm not free."

"Well, that's the lamest answer I ever listened to." He replied, Yes, of course it's lame. Samriddhi, what the hell are you thinking?

"Mr Brown Please, can we focus on the work??" I tried to change the subject.

"I just want to talk and get to know you."

"Why do you want to know me?"

He chuckled and got up from his chair; now he is walking in my direction. He stands, slightly leaning over the desk, a few steps away from me. "You are so cute."

"Excuse me?" I asked with narrowed eyes.

"I find you interesting, so I just want to talk to you normally, and that's it."
I don't know, but I'm not liking this.

Then my phone buzzed. I take a look, and it's my mother. Shit, I didn't talk to her in the past two days, and she must be worried.

"Well, because of your deadline, my personal matters are left behind, so if you don't mind, I have to answer this." I said while getting up from my place and continued, "Don't worry, I'm not going to bother you. I'll answer it outside."

I picked up the call and left.
"Namaste mumma!".

"Simme, you didn't call. Are you alright? What happened? Did something happen? Tell me..."

She is not going to stop, so I have to stop her, and she calls me Simme affectionately.

"Mumma., listen. I am absolutely fine, and nothing happens. Alright, I'm doing great. Don't worry, please."

"Then why didn't you call?"

"I was busy. There is too much work pressure on me, so I didn't get time to call you. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."

"I was scared." Finally, she calmed, but not much.

"I'm sorry. Kaam hi inna c mainu time ni lgya. (there is so much workload that I didn't get time to call you). Sorry, it won't happen again, I promise."

"It's ok, but you should take care of yourself. Okay. "

"Yeah, I will."

Then we talked for a while. I didn't realize that we talked for almost 1:30 hours.

When I cut the call, Beck was waiting for me, a few steps away from me.
"Mr. Brown is waiting for you."

"Why??????"

"It's almost lunchtime, and you are our guest, so it's my responsibility to make sure that you have your lunch properly." He replied, coming in my direction, and Beck left us.

"Thank you, but I'm not hungry." I lied, but honestly, I'm starving, but not under any condition that I'm going to have lunch with him. No way.

"Don't lie."

"Huh?" How the hell did he know that I'm lying?

"Well, you must have worked day and night these past two days so you can complete this job within time. So definitely you are not having a proper meal either, so please, I insist."

I did not utter a word, so he continued.
"Fine. We don't go anywhere; my chef will deliver our food to my office."

I still chose to keep quiet, and without saying a word, I headed towards his cabin.

Thank God this time he doesn't start any conversation and is busy with his pile of files. To kill time, I started surfing the internet.

After 30 minutes, Some staff members brought our lunch. They were putting the dishes on the table, then I asked one of the staff members.

"Would you please show me the way to the restroom?"

Instead of answering me, that person is looking towards Mr. Brown.

He put his pen on the table and then took a look at me. His action somehow reminds me that I do the same whenever my cousins annoy me.

But wait a minute. I didn't do anything to annoy him.

His one glare and the staff members left, and I'm standing there dumb-folded. What the hell is going on?

"You don't have to ask anyone; there is a restroom in my cabin right behind that door." He pointed his fingers behind my back.

"But that must be only yours." I replied hesitantly.

"Well, you are my guest, so you can use it."

"I'm not yours. Never mind.." I turned and got inside the restroom. It's clean and perfectly hygienic. Well, I don't have OCD, but I don't use someone else's toilet if it's not an emergency. You get my point, and this is the most lavish restroom I ever saw. It's not a regular office restroom; it has all the facilities, just name one.

After washing my hands, I came out, and he was waiting for me.

"Well, I don't know what you like, so I asked them to make this." He said this while showing me the way to the dining table.

Oh god, that's the same meal I had when Hannah and Nimii Dii invited him over for lunch that day.

"So now it's not a waste, right?" He said it with a mocking tone. I didn't say anything and started eating my lunch.

But the thing that he remembered is still bothering me, and I think it's showing on my face when he replies, "It's not a big deal. Well, you remembered my favorite coffee without even asking me. It's just a meal, and I remembered it because you were the only one who was having vegan food that day, and all of us were non-vegetarian, so I guess you are a vegetarian. That's why I ordered them to make vegan food."

That somehow eased me, but not much. But wait, did I really remember his favorite coffee? No, I don't think so, or maybe shit what the hell I just did. The rest of the lunch went in silence; he doesn't bother me.

After lunch, he continued, "So, our earlier conversation is not complete yet." Damn him, I cursed mentally.
Before I could say anything, he continued.

"When will we meet again?" He asked.

"I told you my answer already.
No," I replied.

"For God's sake, why not?
You are the only one who has refused me again." This time, there's impatience in his tone.
"But I like it too." He had his damn annoying teeth flashing smile again.

I'm on the verge of losing my sanity. I swear, but I controlled myself.

"Look, Mr. Brown! I know you meet many kind girls who like all this flirting, but I'm not like them......" He cut me in the middle.

"What flirting???????
You think it's flirting. Oh, God.
Seriously," he chuckled and continued, "no, it's not flirting. Damn . Your every word is making me curious to know you more, and I'm not going to stop."

His words now make me uneasy. Before I could say anything, someone knocked on the door, and Beck came in.

Thank God. It's done now.

She came and put a file in front of him. He read every single word before signing it, and it barges sometimes, but after going through the documents, he signed them.

Damn. Now she'll go, and he will start talking to me again. Please, God, save me.

God answered my prayers, and Mr. Smith came with documents. Thank God, work has been done, and now I'll leave.

He placed the documents in front of him; his signatures are compulsory.

He picked up his pen and signed the documents without even bothering to read them, and the expression of Beck and Mr. Smith is enough to tell me that he never did something like that. Beck told him hurriedly, "Boss, you forgot to read the documents."

"No, I didn't."

"But Boss..." Before she could finish, he cut her.

"Who's the boss here?" He asked Smith.

"You, boss," he replied hesitantly.

"Then tell Beck. I think she forgets." He replied while signing documents.

"Sorry, boss, I apologize," she apologized.

"Mr. Brown, you should read them," I said.

"Did you personally prepare these documents, Ms. Samriddhi?" He asked.

"Yes, I did," and his next answer panicked me.

"Good, then there is no need to read those because I trust you."

I can feel Beck and Mr. Smith's uneasiness.

"What if I forged them and stole your money?" I tried to divert everyone's attention.

All he does is chuckle before replying, "Really, wow.Ummmm, you know what? You would never even imagine something like that in your life."

"Why?? What if I did?" I tried my best to ignore the conversation with him.

"If you did, you would never admit that openly. You are just trying to avoid the fact that I really trust you." He replied while closing the file.

I gulped nervously. God, what the hell is going on?
