DESCRIPTION

AMONG THE GODS OF ASGARD, MIMIR WAS A STRANGE ONE. Despite being beheaded in the war between Asgard and Vanaheim, the god lived on. As he was renowned among those of the Nine Realms for his knowledge and wisdom, King Odin decided to keep the head of Mimir in a secret room of his palace where he can seek counsel and secret knowledge. Mimir did not fight such a thing as it would not only be an honour to live on and serve his king, but it put him in a unique position to request something of Odin.

MIMIR'S REQUEST CENTERED AROUND HIS WIFE, TAMFANA, and his unborn daughter, Zisa. Mimir knew things, after all, that was his business. And he knew that if he was going to continue to serve Odin instead of being with his family, something would have to be done.

HE KNEW THAT THERE WAS A STRONG MAGIC within Zisa. She would need to learn how to control it, but part of it would also have to be kept from her until she could learn how to control the magic that she would be left with. Mimir requested of Odin that he take the more dangerous part of Zisa's magic from her, placing it within a sword that she could claim when the time was right. He refused to elaborate any further than that, claiming that he wouldn't help Odin unless this was done. Odin, knowing that the only way he could get what he wanted was to do this for Mimir, complied.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

› alright first off, I do apologize that this took so long. I wish I had a good excuse, but my brain just hates me, so.

› secondly, before we get into the plot, if anything timeline-wise doesn't totally work out with what you've already got planned, feel free to change it. Like the line about Zisa not being born yet when the Asgard-Vanaheim war happened.

› and, thirdly, I know in your request you wanted this to be based on Cursed, but I haven't actually seen the show so I don't know how similar they'll be.

› okay, onto the plot

› so, Mimir. Yeah, he's a weird one but his head just being put in a secret room in the palace is actually less weird than what the myths say, which is that Odin carried his head around with him, so. This is better

› basically, after Mimir is beheaded and discovered to still be alive just... only a head, Odin takes him to the palace and puts him in a room in the lower portion of the palace. I don't know how mythologically accurate this is, but Mimir sticks out so distinctly in my brain from the Magnus Chase books and in that when they talk to him, his head is floating in water so I imagine that the room Odin puts him in is partially a pool that his head floats in. I actually have a picture of a fountain I saw in France that is exactly how I picture this room, so I will send that to you!

› but, Mimir knows things. That is why Odin took him. Mimir knows that there is a powerful magic in Zisa and she's not even born yet. He knows that she won't be able to handle it, if left alone. That it could kill her. So he tells Odin "I'll stay in your little hidden pool and help you out, but only if you help my daughter" and Odin does because he can either help and get what he wants, kill Mimir and neither of them get what they want or refuse to do what Mimir asks and they still both won't get what they want.

› Odin takes some of Zisa's magic from her, the more dangerous part, as Mimir said there would be, because even he can sense that, and places it into Mimir's own sword that he used in battle. He hides it deep in the Asgardian wilderness, inside a building with guards and magical protection as well.

› Zisa is then taught to control her magic as she grows up, so she befriends everyone in the palace, Thor, Loki, Skadi... Sif. She learns directly from Queen Frigga, who definitely knows about Mimir and his request, and was the one who did the magical protections on the sword's location.

› as Zisa grows up in the palace, learning magic, she also develops feelings for her friend, Sif

› during the breaks in her lessons, she likes to sneak down to the training grounds and watch Sif spar or train, just like admiring her from afar. Her other friends definitely tease her about this

› Zisa is totally head over heels for Sif and totally shy about it, as well. She stumbles over her words, blushes a lot, daydreams, watches her lovingly...

› and is totally 100% incapable of ever saying how she feels about Sif. Whenever she even thinks about trying, her brain freezes up and she can't speak

› but, also as she gets older, she starts hearing this voice calling her down into the lower levels of the palace. She has strange dreams, sometimes hears it when she's in the palace.

› and this makes no sense to Zisa because there's nothing down there. The vault is below that, the only thing that should be down there is the guard's barracks and their armoury and some of the rooms for the servants and stuff. Like there shouldn't be anything calling out to her.

› eventually, she tells her friends about it and they agree to help her get down there

› they finally find the room that is calling to Zisa and only one person goes inside with her, the others stay outside to keep watch. You can decide how that gets divided up.

› here she finds Mimir. Her dad. He tells who he is and that she has mastered her magic (she disagrees, she thinks she's good, but she's nowhere near a master, I mean, have you seen the things that Queen Frigga can do?) and that it is time for her to claim her powers. He tells her where to go and not to tell anyone where they're going, it is essential that it does not get out where they are going and what they're going to do.

› I definitely think they would hesitate a little about going. But eventually, maybe after Zisa talks to her mom, they would go in secret.

› there will definitely be obstacles they encounter in the wilderness. Odin hid the sword deep, after all, there will be dangers just to get there. But they all get there in one piece.

› right as they near the place that houses the sword, shit kinda hits the fan. Since the sword is only supposed to ever be claimed by Zisa, the guards attack and the magic attacks whenever anyone or anything else ever gets close. So I imagine, Thor or maybe even Sif, would be the one that, like... "trips" the boundary and causes them to get attacked

› they fight and eventually someone tells Zisa to go while they've got them distracted, to just run and get inside and they'll follow when they can

› after some brief resistance to leaving her friends, she goes and gets inside and the doors close and lock behind her and, outside, the attacks all stop

› her friends fail to get inside when they realize the attacks have stopped and subsequently freak out

› I leave it up to you whether Zisa also freaks out or if she goes into a trance or something, but she claims the sword and comes out with it, wrapped in cloth. We can definitely talk about it if you wanna workshop ideas, but this can really go any way you want

› they return to the city and keep the sword hidden

› a few days go by totally uneventfully. No one comments on them having gone into the wilderness, no one says anything about the sword being missing, there are no whispers in the palace or anything. It's like no one even knows.

› after a few uneventful days, Thor claims that if she has this sword now, she has to learn how to use it and insists they all go somewhere private and actually look at the sword and then teach Zisa how to use it

› they go and as soon as Zisa actually touches the sword, the power that was stored in it, flows back into her and overwhelms her

› I have seen some of the promos for Cursed so I imagine this scene similar to that scene where it looks like the magic overwhelms Nimue and she's like struggling to control it and herself and behind her, her magic is strangling someone or something

› basically, the magic lashes out at those around her and attacks them and Zisa is in the middle, completely not in control of her actions

› eventually, the magic is too much and she does pass out, at which point the attacks on her friends also end and it's about two seconds they have to catch their breath before Frigga shows up, having sensed the magic and brings them back to the palace

› when Zisa wakes up, the sword is still in her hand because they couldn't take it from her. They literally could not pry it from her hand.

› Odin is quite pissed but figures out that this is what Mimir planned all along and he was kind of played. But he just doesn't know why Mimir insisted on not telling him why and when he wanted his daughter to claim her sword and powers.

› while Zisa is still overwhelmed by it all and feels like she's going to explode again at any second, she does go talk to Mimir again, who is thrilled that she claimed the sword and her true power and full potential

› she tells him that she's not thrilled, she's actually horrified, she knew how to control magic before and now she feels like someone has placed a bottle of lightning inside of her that is going to explode at any moment

› Mimir, understanding how she feels, tells her of a place on Asgard that she can go and it'll help her feel more at peace with what she can do now and where she'll be safe if her magic does explode out of her again and all of that

› so Zisa gathers her entourage and her sword and they go

› and this is, unfortunately, where I stop. At least for this page. I will tell you more plot details privately so that people can't read this and find out the entire plot instead of reading the book!

› if you have any questions or want any help with anything, feel free to ask!!
