Their fate
Martin blinked several times, what Oisin said couldn't be true. There's no way fey or any other mystical creature excited right? I mean besides the Hollywood versions. There should be no way that what Oisin said would be true, and yet Martin knew deep down in his gut that Oisin wasn't lying. "What did you do to Nate?" He bravely whispered. Martin was a scaredy pants, he knew it and tried real hard to not be so scared all the time. In this case though, nobody would frown at his level of anxiety; he saw his friends being murdered by things out of nightmares, and it wasn't a Halloween joke. That was what he thought at first happened; that someone played a horrible joke on him. It all changed when they wouldn't get up and stayed the way they were.
Oisin shrugged "I want him. His blood was promised to me. I always get what I am promised." Nate as if on cue twitched and moaned again. As Martin watched, Nate began to twitch harder and more frequent. It was as if he was convulsing.
"What's going on?" Martin shouted alarmed at the sounds of bones snapping and the guttural groaning by his friend.
Oisin just smiled "He's changing." He said watching Nate with great interest. As much as he wanted Martin couldn't tear his eyes away from the macabre scene in front of him. When the convulsing and groaning finally stopped, he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Since the body didn't move, he gently moved forward. "Nate? Nate, you okay buddy?" All the while Nate was convulsing Morrigan stayed near; probably making sure nobody interfered or got hurt. She did growl in warning to Martin's advance, but made no other move to stop him.
"Mart?" came a soft whisper; he sighed in relief when he heard it. Nate was still alive.
"I am right here buddy." He said as Nate struggled to get himself upright. He was however startled by Nate's appearance; the face of his best friend was gone and replaced by one with a hauntingly look of what Oisin called the blood fey. Nate's boyish features disappeared, replaced by more lines and angles that made him appear older and more sophisticated. The most striking new features were his eyes; once a lovely blue were now blood red, staring at him with an uncanny focus. All of a sudden Martin felt very vulnerable and small, like prey surrounded by a group of hungry predators.
"You are going to kill me aren't you?" There was no doubt in Martin's mind that he wouldn't get out of there alive.
"What makes you think that?"
Martin rolled his eyes "There's is no way in hell you all will just let me walk out after all I have seen."
Oisin looked bemused "So you're leaving Nate behind? Not a friendly thing to do."
Looking back at his friend who is still staring at him, "I don't think he will be going anywhere anytime soon."
Out of nowhere Ciaran dragged him to his feet "Neither are you. You are coming with me."
Startled Martin started struggling again; he didn't want to be separated from Nate. "No. Stop! Let go!" His protests faded away as they rounded a corner out of sight.
Now that Martin was out of his sight, Nate came back to reality. "Eh?" Blinking he took in his surroundings. He didn't think he would survive the ordeal with the hounds as he called them. Nate looked at Oisin questioningly, "Welcome to Gymwem; our kingdom young Nate. The kingdom of the blood fey."
Nate choked a little when he heard that "What do you mean kingdom of the blood fey? There is no such thing as blood fey."
Oisin just shook his head "You heard of the myths didn't you?" Nate nodded his head, everybody knows the myths and legends about fey. Whether they believed them or not was whole other thing. That reminded Nate not to eat or drink anything they would offer him, if he ate or drank what they offered him he would never to be able to leave.
Oisin got up, motioned to Nate "Follow me." His voice brooked no argument and Nate meekly followed. As they walked down a different hallway he heard music; lovely, beautiful heart wrenching music. Peeking around the corner, he saw a young girl twirling and dancing to the music. As she turned he could see he beautiful face alight with joy, and by the second turn her face twisted in a grimace. As he took stock of the rest of the room his eyes landed on blood spatters. Following them his eyes came to a rest near her feet, well what was left of them anyway. Two meaty stomps were left of her feet, no wonder she was grimacing every now and again.
"Will that happen to us?" He asked, not really comprehending that he had changed when a hand on his shoulder pulled him away from the room. Oisin was quiet as he led Nate through a labyrinth of hallways. He stopped when he heard the faint sounds of someone moaning, standing stock still to make sure he heard it right. Yup, there it was again now accompanied by the faint murmurings of speech. Oisin smiled as he noticed Nate's rapid attention to the sounds, it was quite funny to see his face as it ran through different expressions as he tried to work out what was being said. His head cocked lightly to the side, Nate followed Oisin as they closed in on the source of the moaning.
The closer he got the clearer the words "No!...nnnn...Please....Stop" That was Martin but what the hell is he doing? Nate just stopped and stared as he stood there on the threshold of another room. He was completely fixated on the two naked forms withering among what looked like to be silken sheets. The only sounds that rang through the room where those of heavy breathing and skin hitting skin. His mouth opened and closed in attempt to make sense of it all.
Weren't fey supposed to hate humans? Nate couldn't remember, too shocked by what was going on in that chamber. It seemed to him that Martin was forced into it, something that didn't sit well with him. Just as he gathered the courage to do something about it, he as pulled back and slammed into the opposite wall.
