chapter three, red eyes

Daisy McCarty and Carlisle Cullen just got to Billy's house and the newborn immediately felt nervous. Victoria had explained and trained her to be able to fight the wolves. But they were much bigger and scarier in real life.

"You don't feel thirsty?" Carlisle softly asks, making sure Daisy is comfortable and ready. He didn't want to throw her into a bad and unsafe situation.

"No, it looks like I developed your restrain when we shook hands. Thanks for that." Daisy joked making the Cullen smile at the teenage girl.

"Alright, let's go. But stay close to me, I won't let them hurt you." Carlisle says without thinking making the girl look at him in shock at his words. Neither Victoria nor Riley had ever said those words to her, they had only ever cared about themselves.

Carlisle had immediately taken a liking to Daisy, she reminded him of a younger Esme. Because of her protectiveness and kindness. The way she protected Bree was impressive and the doctor respected her for that.

He also knew Esme had taken a liking to both girls as well. A part of him was hoping, they'll stay. But he knew, his other kids had to accept that. Carlisle couldn't decide without their input.

They both got out of the car at the same time and the group immediately looked at her specifically. Her glowing red-blood eyes were the first thing they noticed. The elders felt uncomfortable but knew about her connection to the hot head of the group.

Daisy noticed all the boys from early on surrounding a man in a wheelchair who looked very stressed and anxious. The man looked like he was in pain every time, a painful scream was heard.

She also met Leah's eyes who looked numb and guilty. Daisy couldn't help but let her eyes linger since she was the only girl in the group. That must be hard and annoying since they can hear each other's thoughts.

"I came as soon as I could," Carlisle tells Billy specifically, but he knew everybody was listening in. "And I brought Daisy. She's able to heal him within minutes."

"If that's alright with you," Daisy quickly adds making Billy look at her and nod. Ignoring her red eyes. All Billy wanted was Jacob to be better, no matter who or how it was done.

"Of course, it's okay with me. Will it hurt him?" He asked worriedly, not wanting his son to be in pain.

"No, it won't. He'll just feel numb and all the pain will be gone." Daisy says turning when Carlisle places a soft hand on her shoulder.

"Go in, I'll wait out here." The doctor says, knowing he could trust the newborn not to eat the wolf. Mainly because wolf blood was not appealing to vampires for obvious reasons.

Daisy nods and looks to the side to see the boy from early staring at her. She wanted to know what he was thinking and feeling. Paul wasn't looking at her in disgust but he wasn't looking at her in delight either. The wolf looked more confused maybe?

Daisy walks into the house and immediately knows which room it is because of the grounds of pain.

She takes a deep breath and walks in, "Hi Jacob, it's nice to meet you. Bella is really worried about you."

Jacob slowly opens his eyes and looks at her, his face is wet because of the sweat and his cheeks are dry from tears.

"What are you doing here?" He asks softly not moving. The boy didn't have the energy to fight or argue.

"I'm going to take the pain away okay? You'll be brand new. I'm just going to place my hand on your chest okay? Don't freak out." She slowly moves her arms to touch him.

Jacob flinches at her cold hands, making Daisy apologize. "Sorry. I know they're cold."

"No, it's fine." He looked at her carefully. "You know you're really pretty. I mean, for a vampire." Daisy laughs softly making Jacob smile through the pain.

"The red eyes do creep me out," Jacob says closing his eyes, he couldn't wait to be better and think about this moment during a patrol with Paul. "And you have a nice smile."

"The eyes creep me out too," Daisy rolls her eyes, "But I can't believe you're flirting with me. Aren't we natural-born enemies?"

"Not sure, maybe it's because I can't move. Or because you don't smell awful. But Paul is going to kill me when he finds out about this."

Daisy looked at him in confusion, not knowing who Paul was. Or why he would be angry. But she shook her head, that wasn't important at that moment.

The newborn started to use her power and closed her eyes. Jacob took a deep breath and started to relax. His heartbeat also slowing down. Which was a sigh, it meant it was working.

After a couple of minutes, Jacob opened his eyes and looked at his chest. Daisy removed her hands and he slowly got up.

Daisy stood up from the floor and helped him up as well.

"Wow, you're a good doctor. I don't feel any pain.." Jacob looked at his arm in shock and twisted it around. "Can you cure me every time I do something stupid?"

Daisy laughs and shakes her head, "Sure but don't make it a habit. Come on, you're dad's worried about you."

Jacob didn't move to go and truly looked at her, "What's your name?"

"Daisy McCarty."

"Thank you, Daisy." As if Jacob had become someone else, he gave the newborn a quick hug. Truly grateful that the pain was gone.

Daisy smiled and hugged back, "You're welcome, but go outside before everyone thinks I killed you." Knowing the others didn't trust her, not that she blamed them. Daisy didn't trust herself either at the moment.

Jacob laughs and rushes outside to hug his dad.

Everyone from the outside let out a sigh of relief when they also Jacob walked out perfectly healed. Billy especially.

"Jake! You're okay!" Seth yells hugging him next and Jacob laughs hugging him back.

"Jake! You're back!" Quil joins in also hugging him.

"Dude I was never gone." Jacob laughs again hugging both him and Embry back.

"We thought you were dead for a second dude," Jared adds in relief.

"You can't get rid of me that fast."

"Glad to see you back on your feet, Black," Paul says also giving Jake a quick slide hug. Happy that his imprint didn't kill his pack brother.

"You won't be saying that when you find out what I did," Jacob smirked causing Paul to glare. Not knowing what Jake meant but knowing it was going to bother him.

As the boys began to bicker, Sam didn't bother to stop it. Just glad to see everyone was fine and no one died.

However, Carlisle kept his eyes on Daisy, "I'm impressed. Who did you inherit that gift from?"

Daisy smiled proud of herself for a moment, "No one, I already came with this one. I was a training nurse at a hospital before..." She looked down at her body and Carlisle understood what she meant.

"Fascinating."

Sue looks at both vampires still worried about them being here, "Will you be joining the Cullen's?"

Daisy looked at Carlisle wanting to make sure it was okay to say. When she noticed the leader nod, she nodded as well. "Yes, I will also be sticking with an animal habit so the red eyes will eventually leave." She looks at Carlisle unsure, "Right?"

Carlisle chuckles, "Yes, they will." He then looks back at the elders and wolves.

"I will be fully responsible for Daisy and Bree. Also, inform them of the treaty."

Embry steps in, "The treaty doesn't affect h-" but he stops when Paul smacks him on the head.

"Ow! Bro, what the hell?" Embry says rubbing the back of his head.

"Shut up idiot." Paul snaps not wanting Daisy to know anything yet. Mainly because he wasn't sure what he wanted with her yet.

"For now the treaty stands," Sam says making the boys quiet down. The alpha knew, as an imprint, Daisy wouldn't be harmed or treated badly by the pack but he had to make sure the newborn had control.

Sam had to make sure that Daisy and Bree were kept in check and did not hurt anyone. Daisy especially.

"Of course. we'll be going now, have a good night." Carlisle says making the elders also wish him a nice night.

Daisy turns to leave with him but stops when she hears Jacob call her out. "Daisy, wait!"

Daisy turns and asks trying to ignore everyone looking at them, "Yes?"

"Thank you. I would have been laying in that bed for days in pain if it wasn't for you."

The newborn smiled, "I'm glad you okay Jacob. If you ever get hurt, howl alright?" She jokes.

Jacob laughed and rolled his eyes, pulling her in a hug again.

Once again, Daisy was shocked before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Bye, have a nice night."

She began to walk away and Jake yelled, "You too! Dream of me!" Jake flirts with her mainly to get Paul angry and get him back for all the times he was teased about Bella.

Daisy laughs and shakes her head, "You wish loser."

Carlisle himself was also a bit surprised by the interaction but he knew Jacob felt grateful to the vampire.

Jacob watches as the car drives away and turns away to see the elders, his friends, and his father all looking at him as if he's grown an extra head.

"Dude you just hugged a vampire! Not just any vampire, Paul's vampire." Seth yells laughing but stops when Paul smacks him over the head.

"That wasn't funny Seth, and Jacob hands off," Paul snaps, not liking Jacob touch his imprint. Even if he didn't necessarily want her.

Billy shakes his head and looks at Sue, "I still can't believe you imprinted on a vampire."

"Honestly and the funny thing is no one hates bloodsuckers more than Paul! ironic right?" Jared comments making all the boys laugh and Paul glares at all.

"No matter what she is, no one is allowed to touch her as imprint laws still stand. No matter if Paul decides to ignore her." Sam tells all of them and watches as they all nod.

Paul bit the inside of his cheek remembering his early hateful words.

"You're not upset, she used her powers on you 'cause it sure looked like it hurt," Seth asks remembering what happened earlier. But regrets his words when he sees Sam glare.

"Well, it's not like I can hurt her." The alpha waves his hand to Paul. "This one destroyed that."

Paul crosses his arms, annoyed at everyone's words. "I didn't mean to ruin anything. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. But no one touches her."

"Her eyes freaked me out," Leah says more to herself than others. But everyone heard her and agreed.

"At least she's joining the Cullen's. That's a good thing, right? That means she won't leave," Seth says happily, wanting to see more of the newborn's powers.

No one said anything and Paul felt conflicted with himself. He wasn't sure if he should hate her. Even if she continued to drink from humans, which she offered, she wouldn't. But still, the thought lingered in his mind.

Everyone knew they couldn't hurt her, it was their most important law. imprints should be protected and safe at all costs. No one is allowed to hurt them, much less the wolves.
