...Wanted To Disappear
Ok, Davi had under-calculated. Tension ran thick through the air as Davi slung her backpack over the crook in the perfectly white dining chair. "So...should we start?" Said Davi, smiling awkwardly. Ben nodded, pulling out a laptop. Something felt off but Davi ignored it.
"So the project is about how-" Started Ben before Davi's phone began to ring. "Just ignore it." She said. Ben laughed and started again. "Ok so my idea is-" The phone rang again. "I was thinking we could- just pick up the phone." He finally said.
Davi grabbed her phone from her bag and saw Paxtons name pop up. "One second." She said, stepping into the gorgeous hallway. "What's up?" She said. "Where are you? I thought you said we would meet after school?" Davi's stomach sank. She completely forgot to tell him she wasn't free.
"Sorry I forgot." She said, not sure what else to say. "Seriously Davi? Can you- you just meet me somewhere or something?" Davi took a few deep breaths. "I'm working on a project I can't come." Silence.
"I see what this is about." Said Paxton. "What do you mean?" Davi said, panicking. "You're with Ben aren't you." "Yes but-Paxton just let me explain!" Davi said, freaking out.
Beep. He hung up on her. Davi kicked the wall in frustration, watching as an antique vase came crashing down to the floor. "Shoot!" She said, scrambling to pick up the shards.
And that's how she got kicked out of his house. Yeah, you heard. Maybe Mrs. Gross wasn't all that pleased that her favorite vase was gone, but still! Davi stormed down the side walk over to her house.
The tension was thick as she entered. Kamala was sitting on the couch as her mother yelled at her. Her nani was too upset to look up. "What's going on?" Asked Davi, confused. "You want to know what's going on?! Kamala ditched her future husband-while not anymore-to go to a-a school party!? Prishaant and his family had to leave and now her future is ruined."
She rubbed her temples. "Well too bad for Kamala." Davi muttered. "Go up to your room young lady. I'm too angry to look at you." Said Davi's mom. Davi scoffed, storming up the steps.
Kamala felt the weight of her family's disappointment drag her down. She wanted to disappear.
