The timeout ended, and I headed out onto the field. The ball is snapped, and I get lost in my thoughts again.

"RUN, JAXON, RUN!" I hear from somewhere in the crowd. I move my body as fast as I can and try to focus. Breathe in, Breathe out. When I reach the end zone, I turn around and close my eyes. I leap for the ball, which was hurtling towards me. When I open my eyes again, the ball is in my hands, and I am surrounded by almost everyone on my team and almost everyone on the other.

A feeling of relief, but also tiredness washes over me. I see Chris and another guy dump Gatorade onto Mrs. Rodolfo. The crowd goes wild, and everyone who wasn't already on the field flooded to it. Everything was a blur, but even through the distractions of confetti, reporters, and people surrounding me, I could clearly see my mom in the stands. She was waving, crying, and telling people, "That's my son!"

"Dude! You totally killed it out there! I just-just...WOW!" Chris exclaimed. He was at a loss of words. He said, taking a seat next to me on the bus.

"When we get home, you'll be the hero I always knew you were. I heard Coach Rodolfo talking to one of the NFL scouts about you! Is your mom planning a party? How famous do you think we are? How famous do you think that you are?" Chris spat out question after question non-stop on the bus ride home.

"Woah there. I'm not famous yet," I said humbly. The rest of Chris's questions and the noise from the bus on the road almost made me want to go to sleep. I decide to put on my headphones and listen to my 80s music playlist. Leaning my head back, the sweet voices of Queen, Bon Jovi, and Wham! fill my headphones. Suddenly, a familiar intro starts playing.

Oh no. It's Never Gonna Give You Up. As Rick Astley starts singing "We're no strangers to love," I chuckle. I just got rick rolled in 2018. Resting my head on Chris' s shoulder, I fall asleep. Never going to give you up. I guess that's what I did today. I didn't give up on my team or my dream, and in the end, I succeeded. I didn't run away and desert my team and in the end I ended up winning. Maybe I should start listening to Rick Astley more often.
