To The Moon And Back
A week later, Lindsey wanted to check in on Stevie. Sara had told him that Stevie hadn't been feeling well.
He drove over to her house and when he got there, Christine was wary to let him in. She eventually did so and Lindsey walked up to Stevie's bedroom.
Stevie just had a bout of morning sickness and now she laid in bed, laying on her side.
Even though her doctor gave her some anti nausea medication, Stevie still had morning sickness everyday and at any hour.
Stevie closed her eyes, wanting to relax a while before she tried to get on with her day. As she began to relax, Lindsey knocked on the bedroom door.
Stevie thinking it was Christine, said. "Come in."
Lindsey opened the door and walked in. He saw Stevie on the bed and he walked closer.
"Stevie?" Lindsey said.
Stevie opened her eyes and froze for a moment. Her heart began to beat fast. She took a deep breath and sat up against the headboard of her bed.
"What are you doing here, Lindsey?" Stevie asked nervously.
"Sara said that you weren't feeling well, and I wanted to check in on you." Lindsey said sincerely.
"Well, thank you for your concern, but, you don't have to check on me anymore." Stevie said a little harshly. "I'm not your wife nor your concern any more."
"Stevie, I still care about you." Lindsey said sadly.
Stevie closed her eyes as tears began to appear. She willed the tears away because she didn't want to cry over Lindsey anymore.
She opened her eyes then looked at Lindsey and said warmly. "I'm sorry. Thank you for still caring. It's just, as I said before, it's hard to see you."
Lindsey sat down on Stevie's bed and said. "Again, I'm sorry for everything." He stopped for a second then continued. "Are you feeling any better?"
Stevie nodded and said. "I am."
"Have you seen your doctor?" He asked.
"I did." She replied evenly. "She said I picked up a stomach bug. I'm on medication for it and it should clear up soon."
"Do you need anything?" Lindsey asked. "I can make you some tea or...?"
"Thank you, Linds but, I'm okay. I don't need anything." Stevie replied with a small smile.
They stayed quiet for a moment and Stevie decided to ask. "How...how are you and John doing?"
Lindsey smiled and said. "We're doing great. We decided to get married in June."
"Nice. Congratulations." Stevie said, trying to be strong. "So, you both have a month to plan."
"We've been planning it for a while but..." Lindsey stopped as he became emotional. "...well, when everything happened with Dylan..."
Stevie took a deep breath as her son's name triggered her emotions.
"Again. Congratulations." Stevie said as she looked down. "Listen, thank you for coming to check on me, but, I'm getting tired. I...I want to take nap."
"Of course." Lindsey said as he stood up. "I hope you feel better soon, Stevie. I'll see you around." Lindsey hugged Stevie then kissed her cheek.
Once Lindsey left the room, Stevie broke down. She asked so she wasn't upset for Lindsey answering her question, but it still hurt.
Stevie laid on her side again and rested her hand on her belly and stroked it gently. Her tears rolling down her cheeks.
Knowing that Lindsey and John were doing great and getting married soon, made her decide that she didn't want to ruin what they have together. So, she would not say a word to Lindsey about their baby.
"No. Not our baby. My baby." Stevie thought to herself.
"Mommy loves you, little one. It's just you and me from now on." She said out loud as she held her belly. "I will always love you to the moon and back."
