Movie Night

*February, 1997*

It's been five months since the divorce had been finalized and Stevie is finally having better days. She speaks to Sara on the phone each night and she and Christine have been going out to different places having a good time.

Stevie was not ready to date of course, but it was nice to get out of the house and actually mingle with other people. She even went out with her band mate Mick on a few occasions. Mick knew how much Lindsey hurt Stevie so he was there to comfort her and be her friend; nothing more.

Christine however went a little wild; she wasn't looking for a relationship, but she did go out on dates with many men. She had become promiscuous as well, but she was very safe when she would sleep with those men. Stevie would scold her but Christine of course didn't listen.

"Yes, mother." Christine rolled her eyes and said one night when she came home from her night out.
Stevie just shook her head and didn't respond. She was really worried for her friend.

It was a Friday night and once again Christine had gone out. Stevie stayed home with Amy and Emma.

Stevie ordered a pizza and picked out a few movies so she and the girls could have a movie night.

They all changed into their pajamas and got ready in front of the television that was in the once playroom that was now an entertainment room.

The pizza had been delivered and they had gotten some drinks and a few other snacks to eat while they watched the movies.

As they ate their pizza, the girls were having a good time. They talked and laughed. They loved their aunt Stevie and they reminisced about the sleepovers they would have when they were younger.

After the finished one movie, Stevie could tell something was on the girls' minds.

"Amy? Emma? What's wrong?" She asked.
Emma shrugged while Amy said. "We miss our mom. I mean, we're glad she goes out and has fun, but, she hasn't been the same since...since she and Dad divorced. We're just worried."

Emma and Amy had no idea their mother was promiscuous. Christine made sure to hide that fact and she would get a room at a hotel to take her various partners. All Amy and Emma knew was that their mother was out with friends each weekend and sometimes during the weekdays.

"Oh, sweeties." Stevie said as she hugged each of them. "I know you are worried. But your mother has to work out how she wants to deal with the divorce in her own way. Just give her time. She is feeling lost right now and...and I understand her. I feel the same way."
Stevie began to tear up and the twins noticed. "We all react to different scenarios in different ways. I still haven't figure out how to go on but, I know I will get through this and so will Christine."
"We're sorry aunt Stevie. We didn't mean to upset you." Amy said.
"It's okay." Stevie said. "Don't worry about me. We were talking about your mother so, whenever you both need to talk, I will always be here for the both of you."
"Thank you Aunt Stevie." They both said then hugged Stevie tightly.
They pulled away and Stevie wiped her tears away then smiled. "Now, let's watch another movie."

They both nodded then cuddled up close to their aunt and continued with their movie night.

During the early hours of the morning, Christine stumbled into the house. She was about to make her way upstairs when she noticed the television on in the entertainment room.

Christine walked over and peeked in; she saw her girls cuddled close to Stevie. All three had fallen asleep while watching their movie.

A small smile spread across her face. She quietly walked over and pulled a blanket on all three of them then she made her way upstairs.

She walked into her room and closed the door. Tears rolled down her cheeks; seeing that scene downstairs made Christine realize how much she was missing. She hasn't been the best mother in the least five months. She was missing both her daughter's lives.

She walked over to the bed and sunk into it. She began to sob.

As much as Christine put up a facade that she was a strong person, she couldn't escape how she really felt.

Christine truly loved John and is as heartbroken as Stevie. She would have never guessed her marriage would be over and raising two daughters on her own.

Christine buried her head in a pillow and cried herself to sleep.
