Chapter 3

><>Steve's POV<><

I woke up slowly with a headache almost as bad as that one time I-

I stopped in my thoughts when my senses woke up as well and I feared I was where I never wanted to be. A place I hadn't been in years. I heard beeping and other annoying sounds around me. My back, head, legs, and well, bum, felt as if I had been laying in the same position for far too long. I moved my wrists and felt needles taped to them, not a good sign. I heard foot steps all around me and I could tell there were eight people in all in there. Five males and three females, too similar. I also heard many of them typing on computers. I tried my best not to tense when I sensed a large male's presence right at my side, practically hovering over me. A bright light was shining through my eyelids and I was almost certain I was in the place I liked the least.

'But wait, how I could be there?! That place was blown to bits and even after that the world was deleted. It would be impossible!.. Would it?' I thought to myself.

"Um, he seems to be waking up." A young man said from one of the computers.

"Good." An older man replied. It didn't sound like an evil 'good' but that's how I took it. Before they could do anything I jumped up on my bed and had to stand there because those things were still in my wrists. I ripped the things off my wrists as if those were the only things between me and my freedom. To me, at that time, they were.

"Don't experiment on me again!!" I shouted at the terrified doctors. The words came out on instinct, or I would have chosen them more carefully. They just looked at me with confused and afraid faces, which is not what I had been expecting. I jumped onto the floor and started running to the door but I was stopped by an older doctor. I was still in a terrified daze and tried to push past him but he was determined not to let me past.

"This is a hospital, not some mad scientest's lab!" He shouted, half-way snapping me out of my state. I half-way listened to him, but just stood in the center of the room and looked for another exit.

"What ever bad dream you were having isn't real." A lady doctor said in a calming tone, which helped calm my senses. My body was all shakey and adreneline was flowing through me like crazy. I needed to go somewhere. But where?

"What's going on? Where am I?!" I asked. My voice sounded more scared than I ever let it.

"You're in the Woodland Hospital. You were brought here after getting shot in the head by an arrow. You have been here, asleep for five days now." A younger man answered.

"Five days?!" I asked in half panic, half disbelief.

><>Molly's POV <><

The earlier generations must have been really tough, because mining is hard! Five days had passed and the only way I knew how many was because I had remembered to bring a clock with me. I wasn't dumb enough to stay up five days strait, oh no. I made sure to sleep every night, but I stayed in the mines so once I woke up I could go back to mining right away.

I was a stinking mess. Coal dust practically covered me from head to foot. By then I had gathered over two stacks of coal, 54 iron, 15 redstone, 8 lapis, 1 emerald, and two diamonds. I was mining the last few iron chunks I needed when-

"You know.. You didn't have to go mining for my sake." I heard the recognizeable voice say from behind me. I turned around quickly to see Steve himself standing there smiling.

"Steve!! You're okay!" I exclaimed as I ran to him and hugged him as if we had been friends since childhood. I had his arms caught to his side so he couldn't hug back even if he wanted to.

"Yup! I'm fine. Thanks for saving me back there." He chuckled as he pulled himself from the hug.

"Just count it as me returning the favor." I said with a smile.

"Well then why did you decide to go mining to pay for my stay? Mines can be pretty spoopy." Steve chuckled again.

"Oh, I've been wanting to mine for a while now, I just haven't had a goal until now." I said again, still smiling. "Why are you here if mines are so, 'spoopy?"

"Heh, you're asking the mining champion. I've been mining since I was ten!" Steve said in a joking prideful way. I giggled in response. "I already had enough iron to pay but didn't want you not to know and have to go through so much effort and find out it was already paid."

"Wow, I guess more iron for me then." I chuckled. I finished mining the last few blocks of iron ore and walked over to the dug-in area where I had my bed, chest, and furnace. I felt like a proper cave man. I slid in some coal and the ore I had into the furnace and sat on my bed to wait. I looked and the clock. It was almost night.

"Hmm, cozy." Steve said with and smirk as he looked around the small room. "..Sooo. Even though I'm feeling fine the doctors still want me in town incase there is something they missed. You know where any rental houses or apartments are in town? I figured you would know better than me." I thought for a little bit.

"There is a rental house around the edge of town. It's pretty nice too. And since you've been mining since you were ten you should be able to pay for it pretty easily." I answered. "And it isn't too far from the cave entrance I entered to get here."

><>Steve's POV<><

The girl, or as the doctors called her: "Molly,"'s base was pretty simple, but somehow homey. Well I guess it was better then the random shacks I always built. Those things were just pure trash! I was glad Molly knew a place I could stay. I hadn't lived in a proper house since the Code Bomb. But she said we would have to wait for her iron to finish smelting before leading me there. Her saying the apartment thing was close to this cave meant that I could easily go mining, which is always a good thing.

I just stood leaning in the door frame of the room watching the fire inside the furnace as Molly did the same from her bed. Every now and then she added some more coal to the hungry flames.

I couldn't believe she had gone mining to pay off my stay at the hospital for an injury I rightfully deserved. It was weird seeing someone who cared so much. A rare treasure in this world if you ask me. I also thought it was adorable seeing her covered in all that coal dust. I mentally slapped myself for thinking that, AGAIN!

Finally the iron was done smelting and Molly quickly repaired her armor and pickaxe. She also made a diamond sword with the two diamonds she had mined, and a stick of course. I guess she had paid attention in crafting classes, not like crafting is hard, I could just tell by how quickly she crafted. Her hands were almost like lightning.

When she was done, she mined away the chest, furnace, and bed. Since I was blocking the entrance of the cave by leaning in the doorway, I lead us two out of the cave. Once we were out, I followed her to the apartment or rental house she had mentioned. The sun was already down and I pulled out my diamond sword for protection. Molly pulled out her new diamond blade as well. It looked extremely shiny compared to my torn and battered one, but I had so many memories with it that I couldn't bare to throw it away, even though it did have a few blood stains on it. I also hadn't noticed until then that there was even some rusting between the handle and blade from that ocean trip a while back.

"Woah, looks like that sword's seen a lot of action." Molly pointed out. I probably should have just pulled out my iron one.

"Yeah.. I have had it for a looong time." I said in response. I hoped she wouldn't ask anything else about it. Not all the memories with it were good. I often kept it with me just to remind myself of the many mistakes I had made in my "youth."

"What is probably the biggest adventure you ever went on?" Molly asked me. I had to think hard about that one. I had gone on so many.

"Like big as in long, or big as in important?" I asked fore more clarification.

"Uuumm. Big as in important." Was her answer. I smiled when memories of all kinds filled my head. I began going through each one in my head, looking for the perfect one to tell. When I finally picked one I smiled.

"Well there was this one time when I found my brother. He had destroyed an entire lab or something with his powers so I was kinda scared of him. But after a while we became friends again. And then I found out my sister Alex wasn't actually dead, which at the time was good and bad at once because she had become Entity323, and stuff."

I could tell Molly was shocked by all the words I had said. She probably wouldn't have believed me, which would have been fine for me. It was probably better if she thought I was crazy anyway.

"Those are some cool stories. Do you write books or something?" She asked. It was then that I decided to go along with the, her thinking it was just a story, rather than trying to convince her of it all being real. It was all for the best anyway.

"No that's Candy. I just tell her stories and she writes them." I explained, only half of what I said was true. I had only told her my POV of stories so she would have a better scope of the overall picture. She had her time window though so I only did that for more of how I felt during certain times and such.

"You mean Candy the hacker?!" Molly asked with a bit of excitement. I didn't know that was how people refered to her in this world. Well, I guess since she had made that glitch bow that could crash a server, that might count as hacking, maybe.

"Yeah, but we all just call her Candy." I said. "She doesn't really like people calling her a hacker, and she has only used her skills for good." I guess it would be hard to believe since I just mentioned her making a bow that could crash servers. It was all for a good cause however.

"Oh sorry, didn't really think about that." Molly said, a little embarrassed with herself. I just chuckled a little. "I guess you know quite a bit about her stories then since you help her." Molly said, almost a little shy.

"Yeah I guess so." I shrugged. Molly was silent for a while but I could tell she had something pressing on her mind. "Alright, what is it?" I asked with a smile.

"What is what?" She asked back, confused by my question.

"What is your thought? I can tell you are thinking about something." I said with a small smile.

"Well it's just that I like Candy's books. Especially the ones that take place in a magical land outside of Duriel called Earth.. Everything is so different there, but the way she describes it all makes it seem all if she were raised there." Molly said excitedly. Oh, so now I found the thing this girl likes. Cute.

"Yeah, I haven't really read those. Well I tried once, but it was kind of confusing." That, and it burnt along with my house a while ago.

"I know right?! Like, what even is a car?!" Molly fan-girled. I just chuckled and continued walking.

After a bit we both made it to the rental house, and without a single mob encounter. Molly seemed pretty happy when she showed me the front door. The house was small, brick, stone, and not flamable.. Perfect! There was this hopper trail that I put my payment in and the door unlocked and a magical key popped out of a dispenser. Fancy.

"Bye, Steve!!" Molly called as she ran off to do whatever, probably finally go back home and get some well deserved rest. I knew from personal experience how draining mining can get. Quietly, I stepped inside the already furnished house and looked around. It was odd stepping into a house that was sort of yours without placing a single block of it. I looked around until I had a pretty good idea of where everything was, before finally going to sleep. And even though I had been asleep for five days strait, I was pretty stinkin tired.
