Chapter 1

Never had I felt so happy before than when I saw August walking down the isle, flowers in her hands. At the end of the flower dotted rug was where Bobby and the priest stood. Bobby was blushing so hard it looked like his cheeks were on fire. I thought love at first sight was just a myth but those two had proved me wrong. I remember as if it were yesterday when, me, August, Anne, Nethia, and a few other old friends were sitting at the cafeteria table talking when August told us she had a crush on Bobby. About five years later they were getting married. I was one of her maids of honor, of course.

Long story short, the two kissed and were married. I had to keep myself from rudely looking away or covering my face. It was a habit of mine, don't judge me. I already judge myself. Then, it was time for the part we were ALL waiting for. Lunch! There was a dance along with many tasty treats and sandwiches. I danced with my friends and talked with the new couple.

The wedding took place right next to a large creek me and my friends would always play in. It was also the place where August and Bobby had their first date. I know that because I helped with all the planning, like always. Anytime there's an occasion, I was there with my checklist and party supplies. It always cracked me up when I pulled out my picture journal and saw all the parties, dates, gatherings, and hang outs, I had helped plan. I took pictures of every event and put them in my scrap book so I would remember all the fun me and my friends had.

I walked excitedly to the buffet after the music changed and grabbed fists full of the delicious food. I then heard screams behind me. But they were the girly kind of squeals so I wasn't quick to turn around. When I did, I saw that August was going to throw her bouquet of flowers into an excited crowd of other girls. It's some kind of tradition that whoever catches it is going to be the next one to get married. I just chuckled and sat down in the corner of the room with my plate of food. Even if I did believe in that stuff I wouldn't want to catch it anyway. Out of all my friends, I would probably be the old maid with eighty cats. And I didn't really mind either.

I was looking down at my food when suddenly I was attacked by a bundle of flowers that knocked over my plate and stuck in my blond hair. I looked up to see all the girls looking at me squealing and over excited. I was more angry than anything. Apparently August had thrown the flowers with her eyes closed and completely missed the crowd, hitting me instead.

"Molly!" many of the girls squealed. I just huffed as they ran over to hug me.

"It's just a bunch of flowers." I stated. The others just giggled.

"Time to go rafting!" August announced to everyone. I could tell she had chosen specifically that time because she saw I was looking a bit uncomfortable. I liked my friends but most of the people there were August's friends, and she had a lot more then me. I liked the, small, band of friends thing. Ya know?

Anyway, we all changed into swimming suits. I wore a plain pink t-shirt and light blue jean shorts over my one piece suit, because I'm that kind of person. And we all dove into the creek. Everyone had an inflatable and started just floating around. Me and my band of close friends stuck close together and caught up on news and stuff. Many of my friends were still in college so that's mostly what they talked about. I was slightly older than most of them so I got out a year before the others. It helped that all I did was the basic math and English kind of education, because I wasn't really planning on becoming a doctor or anything.

We floated down the same creek we all used to when we were kids, just talking about 'dem old days.' I was glad August and Bobby were there as well, because I knew I wouldn't be seeing them in a while. They had plans to move to New May City, where Bobby recently got an offer for a well paying job there.

"So how's life?" August asked me.

"Swell, I have a house, a job, a horse, all someone like me needs." I shrugged. August just smirked at me. "What?!"

August laughed hard and said, "Oh Molly, you are funny."

"How?!" I asked, not just pretending to be curious.

"You caught the flowers." She answered with a laugh. Some of the other girls began to giggle as well.

"That doesn't mean anything!" I huffed.

"I guess you are right. But it is still an interesting thought. I wasn't even aiming for you."

"That's just because you got a bad aim." I smirked.

"Yeah yeah, I have a feeling I'll be the one smirking when I see you walking down the isle." August laughed.

"In your dreams!" My raft was finally close enough to hers so I was able to lightly punch her shoulder as I said that. All of us laughed, even Bobby. I guess I wasn't that bad looking. I had long blond hair and sky blue eyes that always seemed to impress the other girls. I wasn't really considered over or under weight but was probably too annoying to be anyone's girlfriend. I never was interested in finding that 'special someone' anyway. Speaking of anyways, anyway, we continued floating around until the creek split into a fork.

"Let's go that way!" I suggest to the others as I pointed down the left path which looked like it was a little faster than the right path.

"We've never gone that way before. It might be dangerous." Nethia said, being the un-fun-one in the group.

"That is why we should go! It will be an adventure!!" I advertised with a big smile on my face. Nethia groaned and started floating down the right path. Everyone but Anne followed. "Looks like it's just us. Let's go on an adventure!"

"Yea!" Anne exclaimed in excitement. She liked going on adventures too. We used our hands to row to the left and the current carried us faster than the right path would have. It slowly sped up and it was so much fun. I sat on my knees on my floaty and I pretended to be a pirate fighting the stormy waves. I felt five again as Anne joined in and we both pretended to be pirates on our ships, fighting over the seven seas.

"Turn around!" I heard a male voice I didn't recognize yell from somewhere in the forest around us. Both me and Anne stopped and looked around for the voice's source. "Turn Around!!" The voice shouted again. I looked in the direction we were going and saw a waterfall in the distance.

"Oh no!" I shouted as I looked over at Anne, who looked just as terrified as I was. We started using our hands to row in the opposite direction but the current was now too strong. I looked at Anne and decided if anyone was going to make it, it would be her. I then put both my feet against her floaty, sitting in my own, and pushed as hard as I could towards the other side of the now river. She was pushed to several large rocks and grabbed one. I smiled when I saw her climb off her raft and onto the large rock. She was surrounded by roaring water but was okay. Anne just looked back at me terrified. A rock hit my floaty and I fell off of it, unable to grab the rock. I desperately tried to swim towards the shore but my arms became numb with tiredness until I could barley move. When I fell down, my vision blurred as I looked up at the sky that was slowly getting further and further away from me.

Before I could crash down into the roaring waves I was caught by someone and we landed on the other side of the river. Both me and the one who had somehow saved me fell over because he had been going so fast, and we both rolled over on the muddy ground. I was sore to the bone and could feel bruises all over me.

"Are you okay?" I heard the same voice from before ask me in a concerned tone. I slowly sat up and put my hand over a bruise on my head.

"Yeah.." I growled painfully as I opened my eyes. When I looked up I saw the man standing in front of me. He had short brown hair and dark purple eyes. His simple face was kinda cute. Wait waa?. He wore a light blue t-shirt and purple pants. He looked almost scared once I looked up at him and was that, an arrow in his shoulder? "Wh- who are you?" I asked as I looked up into his eyes. He seemed to calm down a little once he heard me and smiled a bit.

     "My name's Steve..."
