Chapter 7 - A Long-Lost Family Member (Prequel Arc - Final Part)

Location: Playtime Co. - Play Care and Orphanage

No POV

It was another beautiful morning here at the orphanage as Y/n was having fun with his friends, the Smiling Critters along with CatNap as it has been a few weeks since the nightmare that Y/n had with him getting turned into a Smiling Critter like the three kids that lost their parents at the same day before they were sent to the orphanage at Playtime Co. and turn into Smiling Critters plushies one by one each night before Y/n got transformed as well.

That was one of the scariest nightmares that he had ever had, but CatNap reassured his own best pal that there's nothing to be afraid of and they both pretended that it never happened and went back to their normal ways.

But today, things are going to be different as Y/n will be meeting up with a lost member of his family that set up a meeting with Y/n this morning to meet him.

So, one of the Playtime Co. Co-workers decided to escort Y/n to another room at the factory while the Smiling Critters stay at the orphanage, completely unaware of what's about to happen to them the moment Y/n leaves the Play Care building.

Playtime Co-worker: Y/n? There's someone that wants to speak with you. So, allow me to escort you over there.

CatNap doesn't seem to like what is going on right now as he grabbed ahold of Y/n's hand in an overprotective manner as he doesn't seem to trust the co-worker on letting him escort out of the orphanage.

CatNap: Uh, may I have a word with Y/n for a moment?

Co-worker: That's fine, but you got 3 minutes before Y/n has to go meet with someone.

CatNap: Fair enough.

CatNap then took Y/n at the corner of the room, where the co-worker can't hear them with the Smiling Critters standing behind the two of them in a circle as they keep their eyes on the co-worker, giving the employee an uneasy look that made them feel a bit nervous by their glaring looking on their black soulless eyes.

Then Y/n began to worry about what's happening right now.

Y/n: What's wrong, CatNap?

CatNap: Look, Y/n. I know this sounds ridiculous and all, but I believe they're going to experiment on you, my dear friend.

Y/n: What? Are you serious about that?

CatNap: That's right. They're going to use you as a test subject for their new toy projects and eventually one of them will lead to your own death and we don't want that to happen now do we?

Y/n: Uh, no...

CatNap: Then I suggest if you go with them to another room, this will be the last time you see me and our friends. You don't want to forget about us, do you?

Y/n: No, of course not. I would never forget about you guys.

CatNap: (Sighs) Very well then. Just be careful when you go with them, okay?

Y/n: Don't worry, I'll be okay, CatNap.

So then, Y/n then followed the co-worker out of the Orphanage to meet this person at the other room, but as soon as Y/n left the orphanage, the Smiling Critters were furious on what they are planning to do with Y/n the moment that he left with the co-worker.

CatNap: This is an outrage! I just can't think of what they are about to do to our dear friend! He deserves more than anything in the whole world like the rest of us and now he's about to become a guinea pig for their own experiments! This is just makes me so mad that I just want to burn this whole factory to the ground!!!

Fluffy Cottontail: Calm down, CatNap! We understand that you really care about Y/n, and we care about him too, but there's no need to get all mad about it!

CatNap: (Groans) You're right, Fluffy. There's no need for me to throw a temper tantrum just because I was afraid of something bad might happen to Y/n. We will have to plan something if we're gonna make Y/n one of us, so that no one will ever think of taking him away from us ever again.

Sunshine: Good thinking and we'll help you in any way we can.

But then, just as they were about to plan out their next mission, the whole room started filling in with some knockout has that made the Smiling Critters cough a bit before they all pass out on the floor.

Then a group of masked coworkers in different colored Hazmat suits came in the room and started grabbing the Smiling Critters one by one and place them in a cage before one of them radioed the CEO that they managed to capture the Smiling Critters after escorting Y/n out of the Orphanage safely before releasing the gas.

Hazmat Worker: (Radioed the CEO) We got them, sir. All and accounted for and we safely escorted the boy out of the building. What's the next step?

Cut over to the CEO's office, the head of the toy factory radioed the worker back to tell them where to put the Smiling Critters at.

CEO: (Radios back) Take them to the far end of the factory on the bottom floors and lock them up in the cell once you bring them in. We are already planning to recall the entire CatNap dolls and cancel the TV Show immediately. It may make the ratings go down to our company but it's a small price to pay for the children's own safety. We shouldn't have to worry about any more children, or our coworkers go missing at the dead of night.

Hazmat Worker: And what about the child, sir?

CEO: Not to worry. It took some digging, but I managed to find a member of Y/n's family still alive and he's already back from the military, so I set up a meeting to meet his nephew for adoption. He won't have to deal with those Nightmarish creatures any longer, now that he's going to be living with his uncle for now on.

Hazmat Worker: That's good to know, sir? What should we do to the Orphanage now that we captured the Smiling Critters?

CEO: (Sighs) Shut it down. Shut it all down.

Hazmat Worker: Roger that. Over and out.

After that conversation with the CEO, the hazmat coworkers started taking all of the Smiling Critters to their prison to make sure that no one will have to worry about these mischievous creatures ever again as they set up police tape all over the entire Orphanage, shutting it all down for good and cancelling the Smiling Critters TV Show along with recalling all of the Smiling Critters plushies, especially the CatNap dolls.

Of course, that would lead to some bad reviews to the company of cancelling the show and recalling every single one of the CatNap dolls from every shelf off of every Toy Store in Creation City, but it's for the kid's own safety and health after they have to spend a few sleepless nights due to the problems with the CatNap dolls.

As for Y/n, the coworker took him to a nearby office where he meets his long-lost Uncle, Henry L/n, who was recently discharged from his time at the army after losing his right leg during the war that he came back from. He had heard about what happened to Y/n's parents and how he ended up at the Playtime Co. Orphanage, which he is why he came in to take Y/n in through adoption.

Coworker: Y/n. This is your Uncle Henry, he came back from the war and decided to pick you up and adopt you as your legal guardian after he was discharged from the army after losing his right leg.

Y/n: I didn't know that I had an uncle.

Uncle Henry: Well, now you have and I'm sorry about what happened to your parents, but I promise that I will do my best to take care of you. Ready to go home, champ?

Y/n: I sure am, Uncle Henry.

Coworker: Great, let's just sign some papers and you two should be good to go.

So, Uncle Henry signed a few papers before taking Y/n back home to his house in Cozy Woodside Valley near Moonlight Woods. They both went out for ice cream to celebrate, and Y/n was happy to be living with one the only family members that are still alive and Uncle Henry is willing to do everything to take care of Y/n like his own son.

However, this is not the end of this story as Y/n suddenly forgot about CatNap and the Smiling Critters as they all got locked up by the Playtime Co. Coworkers with CatNap slowly waking up to find himself behind bars.

CatNap: (Groans) Huh? What the hell?! Where am I and how did I end up in jail?!

???: You're in jail because you caused enough trouble at the Orphanage.

Then CatNap suddenly recognized the voice as it belonged to none other than the CEO himself as he managed to capture CatNap and the Smiling Critters and locked them up in a jail cell underneath the toy factory so that they'll never harm any ever again.

CatNap: (Angry) YOU! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!?!?

CEO: You and your friends are all locked up here since we managed to receive video footage from a hidden camera inside a Boogie-Bot that we planted in the Orphanage.

CatNap: What?! (Growls) I knew we should've doubled checked for any hidden cameras! (Remembers something) Wait a minute. Where's Y/n?! What did you do to him?!?

CEO: Simple. We contacted Y/n's uncle after he retired from the army and he signed the papers to be his legal guardian, so that means you won't be turning him into a toy like you did to the other kids and some of our coworkers that went missing.

CatNap: (Growls and grabs the bars) You vile fiend! You'll pay for what you did!

CEO: Yell at me all you want, but you'll never get out of those bars! They're designed to prevent you and your friends from getting out. Not even your monster form can pry those bars open. I hate to do this to you and your friends, but this is for your own good.

CatNap: You think this is over, Mr. CEO? You may have locked us up in this jail cell and got Y/n adopted to his uncle, but you can keep us locked up here forever!! We will get Y/n back and have our revenge!!

CEO: I like to see you try once you and your friends managed break out of this cell! (Laughs)

CatNap: Go ahead...laugh all you want...but enjoy your little victory while it last because without us...your company won't last for long, and you will have no choice but to shut this factory down.

CEO: We'll see about that...we'll just come up with a new toy and it will be a lot better than you little freaks.

CatNap: I watch that tone of yours, old man! Cause this whole factory won't be open for long once you take us off the shelves for good.

CEO: I'll believe it when I see it. Cause as long as you all remain here in this jail cell, you will all be nothing, but a bad memory filled with dark and sinister intentions!

So then, he left the area, leaving the Smiling Critters to be locked up in their own prison, keeping him away from anyone from the outside world, including their favorite child, Y/n L/n.

The company locked them up and made everyone forget about them, never to be seen by children ever again. Since that day, their hatred towards the people including the CEO of Playtime Co. made them grew resentful, violent and vengeful as CatNap's reputation got the rest of the Smiling Critters to feel the same amount of hatred as he does, including Theodore aka Moonlight as they planned their need for escape to start their revenge against the people that wronged them.

However, their love for Y/n has kept their sanity in check as the longer they are locked up in their cell, the more obsessive and possessive for their love for Y/n becomes as they wished to see him again and show him how much they all love and care for him.

Hoppy Hopscotch's love for Y/n is so strong, she developed romantic feelings for Y/n, and she hopes to see him once again to tell him how much she loved him. DogDay and Moonlight also loved and cared for Y/n as much as Hoppy does as they are both proved to be bisexual, and Hoppy is willing to share her relationship with Y/n.

CatNap is the most the most obsessed one of the groups and he will do anything to break out of this prison and find Y/n and bring him back home if it's the last thing he'll do.

The Smiling Critters deserved better as much as Y/n. They all deserved to have Y/n to themselves and take him back home with the Smiling Critters as they will make Y/n as one as them to mark him as their property.

They all deserved the rightful place in the hearts of the many children that still loved them before the incidents happen, but mostly they deserved to take revenge on the humans like the CEO as they all began plotting their revenge on the people that have gave the Smiling Critters a very bad name.

CatNap: We may be locked up here, but it won't hold us in here forever...Y/n may be adopted, but as long as he is happy, we don't mind, but that won't stop us from making Y/n a permanent member of our big happy family. We all still love you, Y/n. You may be gone, but we will never forget about you. We will find a way out of this prison, and we will not stop until we find you and turn you into a Smiling Critter just like us, no matter how long it takes to make it happen.

And so, the Smiling Critters are going to do their best to escape their prison and plan their revenge scheme against the humans that wronged them and will continue turning people into Smiling Critters to join the family to help them with their mission in getting Y/n back.

This Never-Ending Nightmare has only just begun in the dark world of Playtime Co.

Stay tuned...
