Location: The Orphanage- Playtime Co.

During the night here at the orphanage, everyone was sleeping peacefully until Y/n is already having a hard time sleeping again, even though that CatNap gave him the sleeping gas to put him to sleep, he just feels really hot right now due to the room temperatures that is burning him up.

He needed a glass of water from the lunchroom to cool him down before he can go back to sleep again, but then he didn't see CatNap in bed with him as he wondered where he went.

Y/n: (Thinking) Hmmm...I wonder where CatNap went? Maybe he had to go do something right now while we were asleep. Oh well. I just needed a glass of water before I go back to sleep. I'm burning up and I can't sleep without something to drink to cool me down. I just hope CatNap is ok. 

But then, just as Y/n quietly got out of his bed to grab a glass of water from the lunchroom, he noticed Theodore to not be in his own bed, which made Y/n confused is to why Theodore suddenly disappeared without a trace.

Y/n: (Thinking) That's odd. Theodore is not in his bed. He just disappeared without a trace. First CatNap is gone, now Theodore has gone missing. I don't what's going on, but I hope Theodore is not going to Juvie like Billy Mason was going to go before he died from a heart attack. I better go get a drink and get back to bed.

So, Y/n quietly went out the door to go to the lunchroom to go grab himself a glass of water to cool down, so he can go back to bed and head on back to dreamland with CatNap.

However, just as Y/n left the orphanage to go grab a glass of water, CatNap and Theodore snuck their way back into the orphanage to begin the next part of CatNap's plan as he and Theodore is going to unleash a special type of gas that will turn the kids into plushie toys just how Theodore became the exact copy of CatNap, but only just a bit shorter than him.

This will be the night where the kids will transform into the Smiling Critters as CatNap is planning something that will change the kids' lives forever as he is going to adopt all of the kids in the orphanage after they have all transformed into his own kind. That way, the kids will no longer have to wait to be adopted to a loving family as they're all going to be a happy loving family together.

But what they don't know is that Y/n is not in the orphanage at the moment and is getting a glass of water from the lunchroom right now as the two CatNaps unleashed the gas from their mouths, filling the whole room with the transformative gas that was concocted by CatNap himself.

After the two of them managed to fill the room with the gas, they both waited for the kids to breathe in the gas and become one of them to create the Smiling Critters.

CatNap: Yes...YES! This will be the moment where we will all be together as a family, and we will no longer have to worry about getting adopted to other families.

Theodore: But dad, what if they try to betray and kill you after the transformation.

CatNap: Not to worry, my dear child. I added a little extra ingredient to the gas that will make the Stockholm Syndrome effect kick in less than a minute or two if they ever try to fight back after their transformation is complete. Y/n is going to love this when he is finally one of us and once, we are together as a family, then we will finally escape this hellhole once and for all.

Theodore: (Realizes what he just saw) I hate to burst your happy thoughts, dad, but Y/n is not in his bed right now.

CatNap: What?!

CatNap then looked to see Y/n not in his own bed as they both didn't know that Y/n went out to go grab a glass of water in the lunchroom, which means that they're going to have to rethink the plan for a moment since Y/n is not in the Orphanage right now. To make matters worse, they ran out of the special gas that will turn a human into a Smiling Critter, so they're gonna have to make more in order to give Y/n the same treatment.

CatNap: Gah! I didn't even notice that he left the room and it's already too late right now. We already unleashed my "Special Gas" to the other children, but no matter, we already got the other kids to breathe in the gas to become just like us. We're just gonna have to come up with a new plan to give Y/n the same treatment to become one of us. This was supposed to give him the happy life that he always wanted, but it all ended up badly.

Theodore: Don't worry, dad. The plan may have failed, but at least we have the other kids that will help us get Y/n to join us. We have all the time in the world to make it happen.

CatNap: (Smiles Evilly) You're right, my boy. The plan may have failed, but we'll still have the chance to have Y/n to ourselves and this time, we won't be alone to make it happen.

After CatNap finished his sentence, the kids soon started coughing after breathing in the red colored gas as the transformation has already started with the kids' own flesh and blood are replaced with cloth and cotton with the blue haired kid named Brian turned into a light blue elephant plushie named Bubba Bubbaphant and the pink shirt girl named Penelope becoming a pink pig plushie named PickyPiggy as they are the first two to become Smiling Critters like CatNap and Theodore.

Bubba Bubbaphant: What the? What's going on here?

PickyPiggy: What's happening to us?

CatNap: You're all becoming a toy, just like me. There's no need to worry about your new bodies. You'll get used to your new life as a Smiling Critter. Isn't that right, Theodore?

Theodore: Of course, dad.

Bubba Bubbaphant: Theodore? Is that you?

PickyPiggy: What happened to you?

Theodore: Oh, nothing too serious. My dad here wanted to teach me a thing or two about manners, so I became just like him....and I feel great.

CatNap: That's right. Theodore has learned his lesson for disrespecting us and is now taken under my wing....and so will you and everyone else.

Bubba Bubbaphant: No Way! I'm not going to spend the rest of my life as a child's toy!

PickyPiggy: Yeah! You two are gonna pay for what you did to us!

CatNap: Oh, you won't even try to harm me and my son. In fact, you two don't really want to hurt me and your friend, Theodore, do you?

Then suddenly, the two kids who became plush dolls are starting to feel weird and lightheaded as their eyes looked like swirls as they are currently being brainwashed into submission like how Theodore developed Stockholm Syndrome inside him dreams from CatNap as he wanted to make sure that his soon-to-be-adopted children won't even think twice about attacking him, even when they have the chance to do so.

CatNap: That's it...just breathe in, let the change happen to you all and listen to your father...you will be so happy once we have Y/n join us and we will all be a big happy family together. Wouldn't that be nice for all of us to enjoy?

Bubba Bubbaphant: Yes....that would be...very exciting...

PickyPiggy: Yeah....I would love that....I would love to share my food with him....he is our friend after all.

CatNap: Yes...that's right. Let your old lives melt away and let your new improved lives fill in the void within your soul. Embrace your new life as a Smiling Critter and you shall all stay young and happy forever. (Laughs Evilly)

As Bruce and Penelope is slowly getting brainwashed by CatNap, it didn't take too long for the other kids to transform into plush toys like them with CatNap's evil laugh echoing through the room until each and every one of the children has been transformed into the Smiling Critters with their memories being wiped clean into submission to be under the control of their new leader and father figure, CatNap.

Eventually, Doug is becoming one of them as well with his ears becoming more of a dog and his mind is already starting to feel strange as his new life as DogDay is taking over Doug in an alarming rate.

With that, Doug's human body quickly shifted into that of an orange-yellow dog plushie and the very last of his human memories faded into nothing.

DogDay: Holy cow! I'm a living toy!

Theodore: I know right? Doesn't it feel amazing, DogDay?

DogDay: Wait? Theodore? Is that you?

Theodore: Yep, it's me alright.

DogDay: Why do you look exactly like CatNap?

Theodore: Well, he wanted to teach me a thing or two about manners, so he made me into his exact likeness and I gotta tell you, it's the best thing that has ever happen to me.

DogDay: You're not kidding. I do feel all soft and fluffy and I feel great.

Hoppy Hopscotch: Guys, I hate to ruin the fun and all, but I hear someone coming.

CatNap: Everyone, quick. Pretend you're just a doll and stay quiet. I'll handle the situation.

DogDay: You heard the cat; everyone act normal until it's all clear.

Without thinking twice, everyone except CatNap sat down on the floor and stood still like they're a bunch of normal plush dolls with CatNap hopping on top of Y/n's bed as the person enter the room was actually Y/n coming back after getting that glass of water and is ready to head back to bed, not realizing what just happened after he left the room.

Y/n: Well, I got what I need and I'm ready to head back to bed. (Realizes that everyone is gone) Huh? Where is everyone? I have only gone for a least 5 minutes and everyone just disappeared without a trace. (Notices the other Smiling Critters in the room including Theodore as CatNap) 

Y/n: What the? Where did these little ones come from?

CatNap: They're part of a new project for the company, my friend.

Y/n then turned over to see CatNap standing on top of his bed with a happy smile on his face.

Y/n: CatNap? Where were you? I worried that something bad might have happened to you while I was gone.

CatNap: My apologizes, Y/n. I had to do some important stuff with the CEO and the scientist to help them come up with a whole new project like these new plush dolls called the Smiling Critters.

Y/n: I see. But where did everyone go while I was gone.

CatNap: Oh, well, they somehow got adopted to their new families and I know it happened during the middle of the night, but the parents have already signed the paperwork and the workers had to wake them up to take them to their new familes. Now I must ask you, where were you at the moment?

Y/n: I couldn't sleep because I was burning up, so I went into the lunchroom to grab a glass of water.

CatNap: I understand. The air conditioner is sometimes on the fritz most of the time, but why don't we just head to back to bed and resume our playtime in the dream realm.

Y/n: Ok, CatNap. I'm just glad you're ok. I hope my friends are gonna be happy with their new adopted families.

CatNap: Oh, I'm sure that they are happy and I'm sure one day you'll do the same once someone is willing to adopt you. 

Y/n: Yeah, I hope so. I just hope that I don't lose you once I get adopted.

CatNap: Don't worry, I'm sure the scientist will allow me to come with you, after we are best friends, and I will always be on your side. Now let's get you back to sleep, shall we?

Y/n: Ok, CatNap. I appreciate that you still care for me.

CatNap: Of course, I do. After all, what are friends for?

Y/n then got back to bed with CatNap in his arms as he sprayed his sleeping gas once again, putting Y/n to sleep once again and the two of them continued playing together in dreamland. But what Y/n doesn't even know is that CatNap turned the other kids into the Smiling Critters and made up the lie that they all got adopted to their new families as a way to cover his tracks of what really happened while Y/n was away to get a glass of water.

This looks like the beginning of the Smiling Critters and they're about to give Y/n the same treatment as long as they have his trust in them to make him one of them, so he will always be with them until the end of time.
