Chapter 1

Hello babies, surprise!

I know I know 😅 Many of you sent me sweet, slightly stern DMs telling me not to overexert myself. I swear I took a break yesterday. But my brain was working overdrive and I couldn't help it. Your messages, comments were heartwarming and I'm grateful for all your messages. Your care and support to a stranger like me is more than anything I can ask for. If my fics are offering you comfort, if it takes your mind off your daily life stress, that is my happiness.

So, about this one-shot...Last week I came across a video of Haley Mae Campbell. It was so sweet that I couldn't stop watching it. I kept going back to that video and that's when this idea popped up.

As you might know, I have a hard time writing short stories. I can't write short to save my life. But I'm trying and I tried hard here, TRIED to not make it more than 2k 😅🙈😂It's soft...hope you enjoy it! Happy reading!

Take care 💜💜💜

Jimin didn't know when it began. Maybe it had always been there.

As an up-and-coming soloist, Jimin never had it easy. His life was constantly changing ever since he became a trainee. People came and went. Things changed with the weather. But there was only one constant.

Jungkook was his anchor, who tethered him to the world of sanity in a sea of turmoil. His best friend since twelve was the only constant thing that never changed.

From the day he moved into the home opposite to his home in Busan, waved at him from his bedroom window on the first floor with a toothless grin, before showing him the new bunny plushie his father had bought for his birthday, they'd been friends. When Jungkook came with his mother to introduce themselves, a traditional Korean dessert in hand, Jimin smiled, greeting him with a welcome card he drew in that short span of time.

Jeon Jungkook was his soulmate, his best friend and everything even though he was a year younger than him. They'd always been attached to the hip. When Jimin said he wanted to become a singer, Jungkook hyped him so much that it was the only thing he spoke about for days. He was the one to bring the flyer that called for an audition.

Jimin still remembered the day he bellowed his name from all the way across the seat, waving the flyer wildly saying this was his chance.

When Jimin got selected in the audition and had to move to Seoul, both hugged each other and cried the entire night. Jungkook promised to write to him every week and so on.

Their friendship had gone through some tumultuous times. They lost touch with how strenuous Jimin's training was and how hectic his schedule was post debut. Things were easier said than done.

Jimin barely had time to eat and sleep. He was overexerting himself because his debut wasn't a huge success. He had to work twice as hard as the others.

He was still a struggling artist who tried to earn a place for himself in the industry when his first love came. Perhaps Jimin should have known that all that glittered wasn't gold. He should have known that dating someone who used to be a fellow trainee was a bad idea. That he'd turn tables in a blink of an eye.

A scandal had broken, outing Jimin to the entire world. With a comeback so close, he was photographed with his then-boyfriend during one of their dates in a rooftop restaurant. It should have been private but Jimin still doubted if his ex had planned it all out. Because at that time, Jimin had a clean image, an angel in the eyes of his fans. So when the photos of them kissing surfaced they hadn't taken it kindly.

Fortunately, his agency had been understanding. They'd postponed the comeback and did damage control as best as they could. However, the impact had left him reeling. There was no denying that many fans had left him and his rising popularity took a huge blow. His parents were shocked and were speechless.

Two weeks later when his ex debuted with his group that was signed with his agency's rival, Jimin realized he was being played. He resorted to alcohol and spiraled down the abyss; began eating less and less. With his most anticipated comeback postponed, there was nothing that anchored him.

When he fainted during one of the rehearsals, his agency forced him to take a break and send him home. Once home, there was Jungkook who greeted him with the same warm smile despite the years of gap in their friendship.

His parents took a while to come around and wrap their heads around the fact their son was gay. But when they saw how sick and low he was in his life, their love for him had taken a front seat. They'd eventually accepted his sexuality.

It took him a few months, but Jimin felt like he could breathe again. When he went back to Seoul the next time, Jungkook went with him. He'd transferred to Seoul university. Jimin moved out of the agency's dorm to rent a one-bedroom apartment with Jungkook.

Things had seemingly improved from there. Jimin healed faster and saw life from a different perspective. His comeback was a huge success. He rose to stardom with his single topping Billboard charts, debuting at number 23. Things were once again looking up for him when he first realized the shift in his heart.

Jungkook, his best friend, had been making him feel things again. Jimin celebrated his success with Jungkook, ignoring the company party in favor of the one man who mattered the most.

That night as they lay on their living room floor, in a blanket fort Jungkook built, binging on a series Jungkook wouldn't stop talking about, Jimin's heart fluttered and skipped a beat for the first time.

It only grew worse from there. A warm, fuzzy feeling wrapped him like a blanket every time he was with Jungkook. Every touch as simple as holding hands caused havoc in his chest.

Jimin had been in love before but being with Jungkook felt brand new. Every experience, though they've done it a thousand times, felt new. Like he never held hands before. Like it was the first time someone kissed him. If Jungkook's forehead kisses counted as a kiss that was.

It was in the way he looked at him, the way his eyes softened and lips stretched with a bright smile. It was in the way his voice softened every time he talked to him. It was in the way he held Jimin's hand when they lay in the silence of the night. It was in the way Jungkook hugged him to his chest as he slept. It was in the way he was there to catch his tears even before they dropped.

Jungkook's sweet words mended his broken heart. He had once swore off men and love. But whatever he felt now was magical.

It felt as if he was never broken-hearted, crying all night long. These days he laughed so hard that he couldn't breathe at times. It was as if all those scars were gone. He was a new person.

With Jungkook, Jimin didn't have to pretend. He didn't have to be someone he wasn't. He could show him all of it and the other accepted him wholeheartedly.

When the realization dawned, Jimin was elated. But he didn't know how to tell this to Jungkook. He felt giddy with everything feeling brand new. So he decided he would write a song for Jungkook.

Jimin wasn't scared because there was no way Jungkook didn't love him. They'd been closer than ever and the invisible lines were blurring. His fans already suspected something with how Jungkook's personal Instagram for his photography was full of Jimin and how Jimin was always seen with Jungkook's oversized sweaters and hoodies when he was out and about.

The idea came to him on a night they lay on their rooftop after a heavy meal filled with junk food and soju. Their usual stargazing session was peaceful and relaxing.

Listening to Jungkook while counting stars was now Jimin's new favorite thing. He loved gazing into the galaxy that was Jungkook's eyes, counting the endless stars, and adoring the twinkle as he spoke.

It was then the inspiration struck. Jimin got up to type the lyrics furiously on his phone. Jungkook who was used to him zoning out to work on his music let him do as he pleased and had soon fallen asleep there.

Jimin later took his time, finishing the lyrics as he watched the youngest sleep soundly.

It took him a week to record and perfect the song. Famous rapper and producer Kim Namjoon was his go-to man for things like this. The moment Jimin told him that it was Jungkook he'd set aside all his other projects to sit with him.

They'd discussed what Jimin wanted to express in detail. Jimin loved the elder's input so much. The way he analyzed the lyrics and helped him refine them to express his thoughts better was like no other. He was a gifted lyricist and Jimin was grateful for his help.

Like that, the song was ready in a week. Jimin couldn't sleep that night. He was anxious but there were also butterflies in his stomach. It was a feeling he never experienced before. He stared at Jungkook, wondering what he'd say. But whatever it was Jimin decided he'd take the risk.

There was so much he wanted to experience with Jungkook. Even if Jungkook couldn't see him that way, Jimin knew he wouldn't be able to move on easily. A part of him knew he'd continue to love Jungkook the same way if not more while respecting his wishes. He has fallen deeper for the boy who had been a part of the majority of his life.

The next morning, as planned Jimin asked if Jungkook could drop him off at work on his way to uni. His best friend agreed without asking him any questions.

"Hey, I have something to show you," he said when Jungkook climbed into the car.

"What is it?" The youngest asked with a curious smile.

"I wrote a new song."

"Yeah?" His eyes widened, clapping his hands excitedly. "Show me. Show me."

"Mhmm..."

As his best friend, Jungkook reserved the right to listen to any new song Jimin wrote or participated in creating. He didn't suspect a thing when Jimin turned the camera on and played the song.

Jimin bit his lip and smiled when Jungkook began to bop his head with the music.

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been

It's the look on your face when you look at me

Makes my heart skip a beat

Damn, it's good to be yours

So good to be yours

It's the way that you talk when you speak to me

Just the thought of your voice

Boy, it's keepin' me up

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in love

Like I've never held a hand before

'Cause I've never held a hand like yours

Like it's the first time I'm kissin' someone again

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been-

Brokenhearted, cryin' all night long

Like every single scar I got is gone

Like forever would still never be enough

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in love

Never knew I could laugh 'til I couldn't breathe

Never thought I could show someone all of me

Things are better than they've ever been

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in love

Like I've never held a hand before

'Cause I've never held a hand like yours

Like it's the first time I'm kissin' someone again

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been-

Brokenhearted, cryin' all night long

Like every single scar I got is gone

Like forever would still never be enough

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in love

Like I've never been in love

Yeah

Like I've been colorblind all my life

Now I'm seeing more than black and white

And it's beautiful, it's kinda like

I wasn't me until you

Everything is brand new

Like I've never held a hand before

'Cause I've never held a hand like yours

Like it's the first time I'm kissin' someone again

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been–

Brokenhearted, cryin' all night long (yeah)

Like every single scar I got is gone

Like forever would still never be enough

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in love

Yeah

Like I've never been in love

You make me feel, make me feel like I've never been in–

As he watched, Jungkook's expression changed. His beautiful doe eyes widened before that radiant smile lit up his features. Their gazes locked and the next thing Jimin knew, Jungkook was leaning toward him.

Jimin's heart lurched with anticipation. Jungkook grabbed his chin with a hand, tilting to kiss his lips. Jimin closed his eyes, smiling against his lips.

They parted briefly, gazes still locked as they smiled widely. Jungkook's eyes twinkled so brightly that Jimin felt his heart melt into mush.

"I love you, Jungkook-ah," he whispered.

"I love you more," he replied, pulling him in for another kiss, their smiles never fading.
