"chapter 38- he may never be the same"

asher jump roped in the locker room and then he heard his phone start buzzing. asher picked up his phone, watching the video of jordan and jj getting in a fight.

while asher watched the video in the locker room brooke watched the video that was now going viral at home. she couldn't believe that she was watching a video of jordan and jj getting arrested at the hangout. an brooke felt partially responsible, ever since her and jordan broke up he'd been different. maybe it was his broken heart or his state champ ego , but something was different about jordan baker.

"hey, have you seen jordan?" olivia said entering the locker room.

"no, i heard about the fight. do you think he's okay?" asher asked.

"the track coach said he might be back here, are you sure he's not here." olivia repeated.

"no, sorry. it's just me." asher assured.

"okay. um thanks." olivia said beginning to walk away.

"wait. why are you still here? isn't football practice way over? " olivia added.

"i've just been getting in extra time in the weight room and on the field. guys are all riding high on the championship, but my ranking took a major hit last season. best thing i got going for me right now is junior college, and that's not good enough. seven on sevens might be my best chance to get back on a d1 school's radar." asher stated which made olivia smile.

"what?" asher asked.

"i'm just proud of you. well i will let you get back to it." olivia said walking away before she stopped in her tracks.

"wait one more thing, has brooke been okay around you?" olivia asked.

"um yeah why?" asher questioned.

"i was just wondering, i'll see you tomorrow." olivia said running out of the locker room.

leaving asher alone and confused.

brooke and sammy walked into class taking their seats beside jordan and jj who were already talking.

"dude my mom was so pissed about yesterday. luckily she believed me when i said it was all your fault." jj joked.

"aha okay." jordan laughed.

"what'd your mom do to you?" jj asked.

"i've been dodging her, but my guess is she'll do nothing as usual." jordan joked.

"you guys are nuts." sammy laughed.

"you sounded like such jerks in that video you know." brooke hissed.

"damn b tell us how you really feel." jj joked.

"yeah b, tell us." jordan said glaring at the girl.

an as jordan stared into her eyes, she could see the remnants what she had done to jordan bakers life. all the pain she caused him through heartbreak. all the anger she created by leaving him alone. an all the fear she instilled in him by making him believe he wasn't worthy of the person he wanted the most. for the first time brooke realized that what she did to jordan was wrong, and it's her fault he may never be the same.
