Chapter One: "She's Not My Girlfriend!"
You were pushed off of the couch with a yelp, landing on the hard ground and hitting your head, causing you to groan in pain.
You heard a snicker, making you look up from your spot on the floor, and scowling at the sight.
"What the fuck, Mylo? I was trying to nap!" You yelled out, jumping up off the floor and gesturing wildly with your arms.
"If you wanna nap, do it on the bed! People sit on the couch, y'know!"
You leaped over the back of the couch, pushing him in the chest a few times.
"I can nap wherever the fuck I want-"
"Y/N, leave Mylo alone. Mylo, let Y/N sleep wherever the hell she wants." A sharp voice said from the stairway to the backroom.
Mylo scoffed, throwing his arms up and looking to the door.
"Really, Vi? There are people in here who want to sit, but someone just wants to sleep."
Vi rolled her eyes, stepping down the stairs and coming up behind Mylo and smacking him on the head.
"There's plenty of places to sit, jackass. You're just tryna pick a fight."
Mylo rubbed the back of his head, rolling his eyes in irritation.
"Oh, sure, defend your girlfriend-"
"She's not my girlfriend." You and Vi said at the same time, then both of you turned to eachother with a grin at the fact that you had said the same thing.
Vi walked behind Mylo, and sat down in the chair, leaning back into it with her legs spread out before her, as you then went over and sat in her lap.
It was a common thing between the two of you. Besides Powder, you were the only one Vi was ever touchy-feely with. You two had been raised together all throughout your childhood, so physical affection wasn't unusual.
Besides, her lap was comfortable.
The pink haired girl let her knuckles run up and down your back as you began to lean into her, relaxing.
Mylo scoffed, jumping over the back of the couch and sitting down, messing with his lockpick.
"Yeah, definitely not girlfriends." He said.
Vi rolled her eyes.
"What? Two girls can't be physically affectionate with one another without it being gay?"
Mylo rolled his eyes back.
"They can, but you two are too... Intimate."
Vi just shook her head, wrapping her arm around your waist and pulling you back to rest against her chest.
"Whatever."
It was silent for a few moments as Vi drummed her bandaged fingers against your side, resting her chin on your shoulder.
The silence, however, was interrupted by giggling coming from behind the door, and the sound of it opening.
You watched, tiredly, as Ekko and Powder came in, laughing with eachother, followed by an annoyed looking Claggor.
He looked over at Vi exasperatedly.
"Really, Vi? You leave me with them to come cuddle with your girlfriend?"
Both of you rolled your eyes.
"She's not not girlfriend!" You both said, again, at the same time.
Vi turned to the two younger kids.
"Hey Pow Pow, hey Little Man. How'd it go at Benzo's? I didn't ask you guys on the way back" She asked.
Powder smiled brightly at her sister, rummaging through her bag and pulling out colored on metal.
"Benzo showed me all this cool stuff I can use for my bombs! I'm making a new one, her name is Mouser and she explodes nails! Do you wanna see?"
Vi nodded, hiding out her hand and giving her sister a smile. "Sure."
Powder handed Vi the bomb, letting the older girl examine it.
"I haven't colored her all the way yet, but I should be done soon! Do you think she'll work?"
Vi continued looking over the bomb, inspecting it as if she knew what to look for, even though she didn't.
She handed it back to Powder.
"It- she will definitely work this time, Pow. You're talented, really."
The younger, blue haired girl smiled brightly, hugging her sister over the arm of the chair.
"Thanks Vi! Me and Ekko are gonna go out to the alley and look for more stuff to make other bombs! See you later!"
She grabbed Ekko by the hand, missing the flustered look on his face when she did, and pulled him up the stairs and out the door.
Mylo looked over at her.
"You can't really think that it's gonna work, right? They never do, why would this be different?"
Both you and Vi narrowed your eyes at him, Vi messing with the hem of your shirt.
"Shove it, Mylo. Powders bombs may not work now, but they will. So stop being a douche bag, and actually give her the benefit of the doubt for once." Vi seethed.
Mylo just rolled his eyes, not having a comeback.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." Vi muttered, becoming quiet again as she leaned up into your back, closing her eyes.
You leaned your head against the top of hers, letting your cheek squish against her hair.
Eventually, you both found yourself falling asleep in the chair.
~~~
Vi was abruptly awoken by a firm tap to her knee, causing her to jolt.
She blearily opened her eyes, still feeling the weight of your sleeping body on top of hers.
She blinked multiple time, clearing her vision.
She stared in confusion at the man Infront of her.
"Vander? What is it?"
Her father figure gestured his head back towards the door.
"Let's talk." He said.
Vi furrowed her brows at him, before shrugging and tapping you on the thigh a few times to wake you up.
You opened your eyes slowly, squinting.
Vi grinned at you.
"Hey, I gotta get up." She said.
You nodded and crawled off of her lap, standing to the side as she got up.
She patted your shoulder, gesturing with her head for you to sit back in the chair, before walking off with Vander.
She followed him out into the open bar of The Last Drop, which had the occasional group of customers, and she watched as Vander walked behind the counter as she sat at one of the stools.
Vander grabbed a glass and pulled out a bottle from the shelf under the counter, pouring the light, orange colored liquid into it before tossing a straw in and scooting it over to her.
Vi took a sip of it, taking notice of the fruity flavors with a confused noise.
"Why'd you give me juice? This is usually for Powder." She stated.
Vander shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, tossing a rag over one of them.
"You're not old enough to drink Vi, you know this. Plus, you looked like you could use a pick me up."
Vi shrugged her shoulders the same way Vander had, and took another sip of the drink.
"So," Vander started. "You and Y/N?"
Vi gave him a questioning glance with a raise of her split eyebrow.
"Huh? What do you mean?" She asked, her mouth still wrapped around the metal straw.
The older man gave her a knowing look.
"Vi, you know what I mean." He said.
The pink haired girls blue eyes widened as realization came onto her face, her pale cheeks flushing a soft red.
"No. Why does everyone assume we're together? Do we make it look that way?"
Vi ran her hand through her hair as she avoided Vanders steely gaze.
The man sighed, leaning with his forearms against the counter.
"Well, do you like her atleast?"
She shrugged, looking down at her cup and spinning the straw with her finger nervously.
"I don't know, maybe? I've never liked anyone before, how should I know?"
Vander gave her a sympathetic look.
"Do you think you like her?"
Vi shrugged again.
"Probably, yes? But, she's my best friend, I don't wanna make it weird."
He gave Vi a smile.
"Trust me, with the way you two look at eachother, it wouldn't be weird. Try asking her out to eat with you, go to Jericho's."
Vi furrowed her brows again, looking up at him.
"Jericho's? But we go there all the time with Mylo, Claggor, and Powder."
Vander shook his head in amusement.
"No, Vi, I mean just the two of you."
Vi pursed her lips.
"Like... A date?"
Vander pushed himself away from the counter with a raise of his eyebrows.
"Hey, I didn't say it, but if you want it to be a date, then it is."
Vi looked down at her cup again in thought, twirling her straw with her pointer finger and thump in the orange drink.
"I'll think about it, I guess."
Vander smiled, reaching over he counter and patting her on the shoulder.
"You got this. But, I got to get back to work."
Vi nodded, letting him walk away.
She took another sip of the drink, clicking her tongue against her teeth a few times.
"Hm. Fruity. Kind of ironic."she said to herself, then continued drinking it.
