Michael's POV

Right now, I'm in my office talking to Julie about the details of these charges I hate to do it but it has to be done

Julie: So, are you planning to go on trial for this.?

Michael: My career can't handle a public trial but we might have to (Sighs) Have you talked to the lawyers and asked them what I told you to.?

Julie: Michael,....They said that they can't guarantee that you would win

Michael:(Confused) Why not.?!

Julie: It's a court of law Mike You never know what the people on a jury are thinking

(I put my hand over my mouth and thought for a while.)

Michael: How about settling.?

(If looks could kill, I would've died right then and there.)

Julie: Michael Joseph Jackson, are you crazy.?! You are not settling.!!

Michael: What's wrong with settling.?

Julie: You only settle when your guilty.! And we know that your not.!

Michael: OK but what if I go on trial and actually get convicted.? That means that I'd be serving time for something that I didn't do.!! I'd rather just look guilty.!

Julie:......Do me a favor.? Think about it for just a little while, OK.?

Michael:(Sighs) Fine

(She picked up her notepad and purse. She stood up.)

Julie: I'm gonna go see the lawyers See if there's anything we should be doing

Michael: Alright

(She walked towards the door but I stopped her)

Michael: Thank you Jules

Julie:(Smiles) Anything for you Applehead

(She blew me a kiss and walked out, closing the door behind her. I leaned back in my chair and let out a sigh. I can't wait till all of this is over. I spun around in my chair and looked out of the big window that overlooked the back yard. The window was open so the breeze flew in.

I sat there just thinking about nothing in particular. I reached up and tugged on my hair. All of a sudden, I heard the door open. I figured it was Shay so I didn't move. I felt a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders.)

Shayne: Whatcha doing sweetie.?

Michael: Nothing Thinking

Shayne: About.?

Michael: Random things, really What's up with you.?

Shayne: Nothing I just got bored so I decided to come screw with you

(She poked my cheek and I laughed. She came around and sat on my lap.)

Michael: Hey, do you wanna meet my family.?

(Her face lit up and she smiled widely.)

Shayne: I'd love to

Michael: Go get your stuff and I'll meet you downstairs

(She jumped up and ran out of the room. I smiled to myself and got up. I walked out of the office and down the stairs. I walked over to the coat rack and grabbed a red sweater. As I was putting it on, Shayne walked downstairs.)

Michael: Ready.?

Shayne: Ready Freddy

Michael: And you call me corny

Shayne:(Shrugs) You are, you rubbed off on me

(I laughed and we walked out of the house. We got in Shay's car and I pulled out of the gates and onto the highway. I looked at Shay and she was biting her nails, which is something she does when she's nervous. I reached over and grabbed her hand.)

Michael: You OK.?

Shayne:(Smiles weakly) Yeah Just a little nervous

Michael: Don't be They'll love as much as I do, OK.?

Shayne: Alright

(I brought her hand up to my lips and kissed it. She giggled and I continued to drive. After an hour, we pulled into the driveway of HayvenHurst, which is my parent's compound. We got out and walked the pathway up to the house. I felt her grip on my hand tighten.)

Michael: Shay, calm down.! You'll be fine.?

Shayne: Are you sure.?

Michael:(Smirks) Have I ever lied to you.?

Shayne: No

Michael: Then, I'm sure

(She smiled and loosened her grip. I looked around to make sure no one was looking and I pulled her into me and kissed her passionately. She seemed surprised but she kissed back. After about a minute, I pulled away.)

Shayne:(Surprised) What was that, Mr. Jackson.?

Michael: You feel better now right.?

Shayne:(Nods) Much better

Michael: That's what it was for

(I laughed and she hit me in the arm. I led her up to the door and we walked in. I looked in the living room but no one was there.)

Michael: Mother.? Are you here.?!

Katherine: In the kitchen.!

(I led Shayne through the living room and dining room to the kitchen. I saw my mom cooking something. She turned around and her face lit up.)

Katherine: Michael.!

(She came over to me and I hugged her tightly. My mom's hugs have always made me feel better. She pulled away and took my face in her hands.)

Katherine: How you doing, Michael.?

Michael: I'm dealing with it Mother How are you.?

Katherine: Worried about you

(We giggled and she took her hands off my face.)

Michael: There's someone I want you to meet

(I pulled Shayne over to us.)

Michael: Mother, this is Shayne Shay, this is my mother Katherine

Shayne: Nice to meet you Mrs. Jackson

Katherine: Please, call me Katherine or Mother So, this is the Shayne I've heard so much about.?

Shayne:(Smiles) I guess so

Katherine: She's beautiful Michael

Michael: She sure is

(She blushed heavily.)

Katherine: Michael, your brothers are outside by the pool

Michael:(Raises eyebrow) Are you trying to get rid of me.?

Katherine: Of course not I just wanna talk to Shayne alone for a while

Michael: Alright I'm going

(I kissed Shayne's cheek and walked out of the sliding door.)

Shayne's POV

I sat down at the table next to Katherine She gave me a cup of tea and we started to talk

Katherine: So, where are you from, sweetie.?

Shayne: Hartford, Connecticut

Katherine: Do your parents still live there.? Brothers or sisters.?

Shayne: Yeah my parents still live there My twin sister, Scarlet, lives in New Jersey with her husband and son And my little sister, Sage is going to college at NYU

Katherine: Wow....... You know, you are just like Michael described you as

Shayne:(Sipping tea) He talks about me.?

Katherine: All the time You know, he was really depressed about you all's breakup

Shayne: Yeah, I was too

Katherine: Shayne, as a woman who's also been cheated on by her partner, trust me when I say that forgiveness isn't always the easiest thing to do

Shayne: I know but I'm working on it because I love Michael

Katherine: I know you do, I can see it in your eyes Just...... trust him, OK.? Michael is one of the most sensitive people I know and I guess you can say he got that from me

(We laughed.)

Shayne: I'll never leave him again..... That's a promise
