"THANK YOU Sergeo for everything." Severus nodded is his head toward Sergeo gripping my arm tightly.
You know I would've thought learning I was one of the most powerful species in creation I would get a little respect, possibly even a little fear from from Severus. But nope. It was the opposite.
After the dramatics with my wand Severus grabbed me by the back of my shirt and literally dragged me to Sergeo's living room. I was astonished at this man's bravery, I knew he realized that I could kill him in the blink of an eye. The fact that he still showed hostility toward me was amazing. I wasn't the only one shocked Sergeo watched opened mouthed as his friend dragged a Holy entity around his house.
Standing here watching Severus and Sergeo exchange goodbyes, I could feel the anger rolling off Severus in waves. He no doubt figured out that Albus already knew about me. I was pulled out of my thoughts as Severus motioned toward Sergeo looking at me with narrowed eyes.
I looked at him in confusion, Severus having no patience squeezed my arm tighter and growled.
Wow buddy use your words.
It took me a few seconds before I realized what Severus wanted.
I cleared my throat turning toward Sergeo. "Thank you for the wand Sergeo, it was a big help."
"Oh you are very welcome Holy entity. Please stop by anytime at all, my door is always open!" Sergeo exclaimed in a friendly manner.
I couldn't help but smile at the man's enthusiasm. Severus already fed up with me nodded his head toward Sergeo. Realizing we were going to apparate I quickly took down my shields feeling weird about it alike to before.
In moments I felt my body being squeezed almost like I was being sucked through a straw. I suppose the feeling of apparition gets better the more you do it.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT & WIZARDRY
Finally the feeling stopped and we were outside of huge iron gates. There was some sort of Gargoyle that was in the form of a Hog with wings on either side of the iron gate. I looked scrutinizingly at the gargoyles.
'What the hell?' I muttered lowly under my breathe not taking my eyes off the stupid looking gargoyles.
My eyes moved upwards and suddenly all thoughts of the idiotic looking gargoyles vanished.
A huge castle stood tall and proud behind the iron gates. My mouth fell open gazing upon the ginormous castle. It was unbelievable, I had no words to describe the beautiful structure. It looked as if it took hundreds of years to make when in reality with magic it probably only took hours. I had no clue I was in this beautiful castle earlier when I was in Albus's office.
This was school?
The students who attend Hogwarts should be grateful they don't need to attend non-magical school. High school compared to this should be defined as prison. I was so busy openly gaping at the school that I forgot about Severus's grip on my arm.
The iron gates bursting open was what snapped me out of my trance. I was immediately tugged; not so gently might I add, toward the castle.
Deep breathes, stay calm. Don't kill him.
I sighed in annoyance at my wand which I had stuffed in my back pocket poking my butt the whole time I walked.
Note to self: Never stick wand in pocket again.
I looked around the surroundings curiously. A thick forest covered pretty the whole outside of the school, minus the large lake which covered a small portion of the outside. The two of us were soon walking along a huge bridge that led to what was most likely a courtyard of school.
Well this is going to be a long walk.
🕰🕰🕰🕰🕰
We finally came to a courtyard area of the school which was inhabited by many students letting me know it was most likely a Saturday or Sunday. The sun was just beginning to set meaning dinner for the students was probably going to be served soon.
As me and Severus started walking through the courtyard; almost all chattering stopped and every student's gaze turned towards the two of us. Every single student was in uniform; alike to ones I bought myself earlier.
There was a slight difference though. There robes unlike the ones I bought previously were not just bland grey. Some robes were colored blue, a few students robes looked to be yellow, while others were red, and a couple other students were wearing green robes.
The symbols on the robes were also different than mine. They did not hold a Hogwarts symbol, but instead each color held an animal.
The yellow held a badger, the blue was an eagle, the green was a snake, but it was the red robes animal that perplexed me the most. What was that a lion, no I think it was griffin. Nope it was definitely a lion.
What the hell? Why did all these students get the interesting robes.
I wanted to question Severus on it, but I figured now was most definitely not the time.
You know considering Severus looked liked he was ready to murder me and all. Oh yeah, also the fact that every student is watching us.
Students were watching us with slightly gaped mouths. I suppose it wasn't everyday that you see one of your teachers dragging an unfamiliar person onto the school grounds.
I couldn't help but notice a platinum blonde haired boy dressed in green robes watching us. The boy looked to be around my age if not older, probably sixteen. He was surrounded by a group of students who were also dressed in the green colored robes with a snake on it. He watched me in curiosity.
Well obviously Hogwarts doesn't get new students in between school years.
The boy was fairly good looking, just not really my type. I couldn't help but snort to myself quietly at my thoughts.
'Not my type?' I've never even dated anyone.
Was I even allowed to date? That probably would have been a good question to ask before I left home.
As we passed the group my gaze met that of the blondes. He looked tired, almost broken. I wonder what's been going on in his life. I shrugged the thought off as I broke eye contact.
Soon my eyes drifted off to another group of students. There were only three of them and each was wearing the vibrant red robes which was adorned with the lion.
The first person my eyes landed on was a boy with fiery red hair and pale skin. He was looking at me in slight awe. As arrogant as it sounded I knew it was because of my looks, being Nephilim definitely gave me an upper hand when it came to looks.
Next to him was a skinny girl with huge, bushy, brown hair. The girl was also pale skinned and very pretty. The girl's caramel eyes gazed at me with suspicion. She was holding a book in her arms, I had a sense that she was smart.
Finally my eyes came to the boy on the end. He had unruly jet-black hair that seemed almost untamable. His eyes though covered by circular glasses were a vibrant green. His skin as well was pale, though it wasn't surprising considering that Scotland rarely ever gets to feel the warmth of the sun. Let alone see it as it for the most part it was covered by clouds. Alike to the fiery-haired boy, he was looking at me in slight awe. However, there was something else, suspicion.
The whole trio looked like they were sixteen, so a year older than me.
I could pass as sixteen as well I suppose. It finally hit me like a bullet as I looked at the boy a little longer.
This was the boy I saw in the newspaper, The Daily Prophet I believe. This was Harry Potter, The-Boy-Who-Lived. Of course from my time Harry Potter was a lot older, but it was him none-the-less.
I felt Severus tighten his grip on my arm as he tugged me forward silently telling me to walk faster. We came upon huge open doors that led inside the castle. As soon as we got inside the air turned warmer. I could hear the chatter from the students pick back up outside, most of it being chatter about 'the girl who Snape found'.
Severus walked swiftly down the long corridors with me in his grasp. Due to my advanced hearing I could hear three pairs of footsteps following behind obviously trying to sneak. I turned my head only to see Harry Potter and his two friends following us trying to make it appear as though they were simply walking in the same direction.
The three students saw me looking at them, yet continued to follow giving me blank stares in return. I smirked at them taking off guard causing them to all give me looks of confusion. I turned my head to face the front once more.
Severus then turned the corridor and ran into multiple flights of stairs. I watched in slight amazement at the moving staircases. Severus and I swiftly walked a couple of flights before turning into another corridor.
God I'm so going to get lost in this school.
After a few more minutes of us walking and the three students still following us we came upon a gargoyle, this one in the shape of some sort of bird that I had never seen the species of. Severus stepped into the large gargoyle pulling me along with him.
"Sherbert Lemon." Severus spoke the name of a candy.
I looked at him like he'd lost his mind until the gargoyle started moving upwards. I swear I saw a slight smirk on his face. I inwardly scoffed at this, I was standing to close to this man for my own comfort but he refused to let go of my arm.
Well someone has trust issues.
Seconds later The gargoyle stopped moving and the two of us were standing in front of a large door. The door opened leading to the familiar office of Albus Dumbledore. Albus stood calmly behind his desk as his gaze met mine.
I gave him a sheepish look as Severus once more pulled me into the office, the door closing behind us. Finally Severus pushed towards Albus releasing my arm.
"Albus please tell me you had no idea!" Severus shouted to Albus, though he already knew the answer.
"Severus let us not be so arrogant as to discriminate against a mere child simply because of her heritage." Albus told Severus calmly.
"Sir, you know as well as I that by the laws Heaven, Nephilim are illegal to exist. If the ministry were to find out that Hogwarts was harboring a Nephilim they would no doubt send the both of us to Azkaban. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if Heaven were to find out!" Severus started ranting in exasperation toward Albus.
Before Albus could utter a word Severus turned to me sharply with glare.
"Who are your parents girl, don't you dare lie to me again!" Severus snapped at me.
What do I say! What do I do?
I looked at Albus for help. I was expecting disappointment when our eyes met; however, that is not what I saw at all. Compassion was in his eyes as he nodded me, silently telling me it was okay to tell Severus.
"Adriel I know Severus may come off as brash, but I trust him with my life. You can trust him, he will not tell." Albus told me gently putting my nerves toward telling Severus the whole truth at ease.
"My father is an American Wizard, known as Cormac Pembroke." I sighed looking in Severus's eyes which had not softened in the least.
"And your mother?" Severus urged obviously eager to know whom my angelic parent was.
"My mother is the fifth Arch-Angel; Sariel." I finally spoke after a moment of silence.
"What! That's unheard of, it's not possible! An Arch-Angel produced a child! An average Nephilim has powers more immense than almost all supernatural creatures! The power of Arch-Angels child could bring the universe to it's knees!" Severus started going ballistic.
Albus remained calm allowing Severus to go on his rampage. I simply looked to away with slight anger. All my life I've been judged just on the simple fact that I was different. I get it, I could destroy the Earth! Just because I can doesn't mean I will.
I mean look what I'm doing now I'm about to go back in time to save hundreds of lives. Does that seem evil to you because everyone seems to believe I am.
"The girl's fifteen! Anytime a Nephilim is born there is world wide destruction! Thousands dead during the birthing of one. When she was born shouldn't there have been some sort of destruction caused from that much power entering the world? I don't remember any world-wide destruction caused fifteen years ago. All I remember was the fall of the Dark Lord." Severus questioned calming down.
Albus looked to me as if telling me to answer his question. This motion caused Severus to look at me as well, with a demanding look in his eyes.
"Ten million." I spoke my voice slightly strained.
"What?" Severus asked clearly unimpressed with my vague answer.
"Ten million people died from my birth." I spoke in slight regret.
Severus's face turned into one of horrification while Albus's stayed impassive.
"I didn't mean to do it! I was being born, do you know how traumatizing that experience is? Do you? I sure do I remember every single moment of it!" I exclaimed defensively.
It was true I remembered every single moment in my life so far and I was showing no signs of every forgetting.
"You remember being born?" Albus questioned in curiosity now.
"Yeah I mean I'm an all powerful Holy being. Of course I remember." I smiled proudly.
Severus sucked a deep breathe in while obviously trying to understand me being Nephilim. I was sick of this.
"Let me explain this to you Severus as you obviously are having a hard time comprehending it." I started staring Severus in the eyes.
"Before myself the last time there was a Nephilim walking Earth God himself had to intervene in order to remove them from the planet. The power of a Nephilim depends on how strong their Angelic parent is, generally speaking Nephilim are more powerful than angels themselves. Therefore I; being the daughter of an Arch-Angel am technically more powerful than an Arch-Angel. You know as well as I that by the laws of Heaven Nephilim are outlawed if I were to be found I'd be taken in and either be forced to join the ranks of Heaven or they'd find a way to kill me." I explained slowly to Severus.
"Arch-Angels are the first of God's creations as well as the most powerful of his creation. If you're saying that you hold higher level power than even an Arch-Angel that would put you-"
"Right below Death himself. You see the ole' power wheel essentially goes in this order. God, Death, Myself, and then the five Arch-angels." I finished for Severus.
Severus nodded his head slowly taking a seat in one of Albus's chairs that were right behind his desk.
"Adriel what do you mean by 'technically more powerful than an Arch-Angel?" Albus questioned catching onto my earlier phrase.
"Basically I am more powerful than an Arch-Angel but not by much. For example an angel blade would kill an Arch-Angel, but it would simply shatter if it touched me. Its the little things mainly that make me more powerful, but its very close." I nodded my head to Albus.
Albus smiled at me nodding his head seemingly happy with the information. Severus looked as if he just realized something and stood up abruptly.
"You said ten million people died during your birth. Fifteen years ago I certainly do not remember world-wide destruction causing the deaths of over ten million people." Severus narrowed his eyes finally catching on.
"Allow me to fully introduce myself. My name is Adriel Mirabella Pembroke and I am born on July 18, 2000." I smiled at Severus condescendingly.
That what finally broke him.
"What!" Severus roared out eyes a lit in a blazing fire.
Just as I was about to reply with something snarky I heard a small noise outside of Albus's office door.
That trio was outside Albus's door attempting to listen in. I could literally smell there scents. With a small sigh I tuned back in to Severus who was screaming about how I couldn't be here for being a Nephilim, let alone a Nephilim from the future.
"Listen as much as I enjoy being the cause of all your problems Severus, I regret to inform the both of you that three students are attempting to listen in on this conversation. I believe one those students goes by the name; Harry Potter? Albus I really hope you have some spell on your door that makes it so they can't hear us." I finished by pinching the bridge of my noise.
"Don't worry Miss Pembroke they are not able to hear anything, but I am quite curious as to how you knew they were right outside my door?" Albus questioned.
"Hello, Nephilim here." I pointed to my face with a sigh.
Albus simply gave an amused smile in reply before the remembering one of his favorite students was out side his door attempting to listen.
"In that case it would appear that we haven't much time left. Balthazar has already been to 1942 in order to inform my past self on the mission I have sent you on. I trust you to be careful Miss Pembroke these are big events that will be changed if you are successful, as well as hundreds of lives saved." Albus spoke to me seriously.
I nodded my head understanding the importance of my mission.
Change Tom Riddle. How hard can it be?
"Wait, Albus my supplies." I exclaimed referring to my school supplies I had bought earlier.
Severus told me he had sent it all here before we went to get my wand. With a flick of his wand a large trunk appeared right in front of me.
Wow a trunk. How old school can you get.
"You will find your supplies in there. Try not let anyone in on your mission, nor your heritage Miss Pembroke. I assume you know the actions Heaven would take should they find out Hogwarts is harboring an outlawed species." Albus warned me.
"Of course Albus. I promise that I will not fail you." I nodded my head picking my trunk holding the supplies.
"Good Adriel, you shall see me in a few minutes. I believe on Saturday October 14, 1942 I was sitting in the Transfiguration classroom at preciously 8:42 PM." Albus smiled at me his eyes twinkling.
"I'll see you soon Albus." I gave him a sort of farewell salute.
Severus who was watching the exchange with confusion suddenly understood what I was doing. His eyes went wide and he turned to Albus looking at him as if he were crazy. The last thing I heard before I left was Severus yelling that Albus was crazy to send me back and the trio of students presumably knocking at the door.
Well here's where the fun really begins. 1942 here I come.
