"Mom, I have something to tell you," Mikey says, fiddling with his fingers. Mom looks up. "I want you to know that even though I'm telling you this, I'm still the same person I was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago." He takes a deep breath. "I'm gay."

"Mikey-" Mom smiles and hugs her son. "Honey, I know, but it doesn't matter. I always just wanted you, and your brother," she looks at me, like a loving mother, "to be happy. It's all I've ever wanted." I smile in relief. She waves me over to join the family hug. "I love you two, regardless if you love girls, guys, monkey, pens. I don't care." 

"Mom!" I laugh. She lets go and stares up at the closed door. 

"Will he be okay? He and Kellin have been in there for a while, and I'm afraid Kellin might scare him." 

"Frank's strong. He'll be fine. He needs to understand how Kellin's story was like. It could help the testimony." 

Mikey sighs and checks his phone. "I have to meet Ray to work on a project-"

"Alright, honey, just remember to use protection-"

"MOM!" Mikey turns bright red. "No, no, no, no," he shakes his head as he walks out the door. I look at her and we both laugh. 

"Gee, you have to be honest with me, okay? Do you think you like Frank? I mean, you have been so worried about him, not as a friend, but it's like your heart was about to be ripped out-"

"I don't know mom, maybe? I'm just a sexually confused letter over here," I shrug. "I think I'll wait a bit and see what life does." 

"Alright, but I just don't want you to assume things. Don't set yourself up for heartbreak," she says before leaving the room. I hear the lawyer walk over, sitting next to me. 

"I didn't want to say this in front of Frank, but Phillip Lewis is rich. He has the best lawyer fighting for him. And I should have you know, that he might get away with 10 years." 

"What?" I gap at her. "No, that can't happen. You heard Kellin. He has to go away for life." 

"I'm trying, but I don't know how good of a liar he is. I'm not saying it will happen, but it might, and if it does, I hope you'll be there for Mr. Iero," she says before standing up and walking out the door.
