Chapter 7 -The Sea of Holes and Douches
I went inside the submarine first to see John giving the motor to my now happy uncle who had stayed behind when we went to meet Jeremy. The other boys looked to me a bit frightened but I simply smiled at them and they relaxed.
"Okay, Booby down the hatch." Ringo said from above.
"'Down the hatch' a quite curious phrase." Jeremy said as he carefully climbed down the ladder. "The middle South Midlands Victorian phase. Its usage undoubtedly on the increase, I must work it into my New Statesman piece."
"That's the hatch friend." John kindly pointed out to Jeremy.
Jeremy looked from John to the hatch. "Indeed."
Uncle Fred decided now to take command. "Steady now, crew! Prepare to go forward!"
All the boys repeated forward while pressing a button or pulling a lever... well except for John who just laid there point 'forward' and Ringo who was doing the sinking dance.
Soon we were on our way and quite quickly came to another place from Nowhere Land. We were just starting to relax when all of the sudden the submarine started groaning and the became very quiet.
I looked out of the window then groan in annoyance as we once again lightly falling to the ground.
"Hey, it's awfully quiet." Says John.
I looked over. "No duh John something else is wrong with her!"
"What shall we do, Jeremy?" Ringo asks our handy man.
Jeremy of course immediately had the answer. "Repair, revive, revamp, renew, ipse dixit, just turn the screw."
I was listening really I am but I was a bit distracted by the millions of chicken heads and other unique statues everywhere. It wasn't until we landed that we all -besides uncle Fred- go out and see the problem.
Jeremy was on the case as he stood in front of one of the propellers. "Log sign, long sign, big thingamabob."
George looks confused and asks me. "What's he saying?"
"What's he doing?" Paul added
'Now you guys know how I feel with you.' I thought before I shrug. "Let the man do what he does best George."
Jeremy gave me a heart attack when he took the propeller off then led me to confusion when he took out gum out of his mouth.
"Chewing gum will do the job." Jeremy continues. "A turn of the screw, and all is..."
On a drop of a dime the submarine started up and began taking off.
"UNCLE FRED!" I shout in horror.
"... And all is new." Jeremy hesitantly finishes nervously.
"Nemo! I can't stop her!" My uncle cries out the window.
"Get to the wheel, turn the steering heck press a button!!" I yell, desperately to my uncle running towards the submarine.
I would have fallen to my death were it not for Paul grabbing my waist and pulling me back "Easy there love!"
My poor uncle either couldn't hear me or perhaps pressed the wrong button because the next thing I knew my uncle... my only relative was floating away.
"'H' is for hurry, 'e' is for ergent, 'l' for love me..." my uncle cried out as he disappears into the distance.
John took out a handkerchief and waved with it. "'P' is for.... goodbye?"
George turned to Jeremy angrily. "That was lovely Jeremy."
"We've lost the sub for good!" Paul said letting me go and followed.
"Or for bad." John frowns as he puts in hands on his hips.
"Or for worse." Ringo added.
Jeremy stutters nervously. "I'm sorry about that."
"But he did fix the motor." Ringo defended.
"Uh guys." John said pointing to me.
I knew he did because everyone got quiet.
I was on my knees staring out into the fields my once happy roses have become blue in sadness. My uncle, the man who saved me from the glove and taught me about how to make peanut-butter banana sandwiches is gone.
"Uncle." I whimper sniffling.
Paul was there in an instant holding to me to his side. "Hey now Nemo none of that we will see him again!"
"We will?" Ringo asks.
John and George smack his head even Jeremy shook his head. "Idiot."
"Yes." Paul said glaring at Ringo. "We will, it will just be for a little so come on Nemo gives buds of yours some color! Can't have the blue meanies get what they want."
I sniffle a bit before nodding; I took a deep breath and slowly my rosebuds turned a light pink which made the boys sigh in relief.
"There ya go love now.... umm where are we?" Paul asks as he lefts me from the ground and looks around us.
John scratches his head. "I don't know it looks like the foothills."
"The foothills of what?" I ask.
"The foothills of the Headlands." John answers before walking away from all of us.
"Uh John?" I say trying to get his attention but it seems like he was hypnotized by something. "John?"
"It's alright Nemo." George assures me as John got further away. "He gets like this sometimes let's just leave him to it."
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high
I watched John as he gazed into one of the head's images. My lord the women were everywhere, I turned to the other boys who seem to be quite embarrassed with what I was see while Jeremy watched on fascinated.
Newpaper taxis appear on the shore
Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
And you're gone
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...
Picture yourself on a train in a station
With plasticize porters with looking glass ties
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes
I would like to meet such a lady with kaleidoscope eyes.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds [fade out]
Well... all in all it was a nice song and John's imagination certainly had its... tastes.
John seemed to have brought himself back as we all started walking by him.
"Uh carry on, lads, carry on." John coughs as he joins the group.
Ringo nodded. "We certainly was carrying on."
John just glares at Ringo before taking the lead.
I was a while before anyone said anything.
"I feel a draft." George say looking around curiously.
"We must be near the sea of holes!" Paul cheers looking towards me. "I bet you that's where your uncle is at."
I smile at him. "Probably, I think we should ask for directions i'm sure we will get their quicker."
To my surprise they all agreed and walked up to a bunch of heads.
"Ahem, excuse us?" John says.
"Can you tell us the way to Pepperland?" Paul finishes.
The heads shuffled pictures in their minds and a picture of an arrow pointed out a direction before they went blank again.
We all were a bit confused but said thanks anyways for their help. A couple of hours later we came to a clearing that was covered in dust although it looked a bit odd to be dust.
"Gosh look at all of this dust!" Paul exclaims looking at the ground.
"Where did it come from?" George asks.
"Apparently the maid isn't doing her job." I say kneeling down to take a closer look at it.
Jeremy shakes his head. "A chemical error, and quite in precise this is a condiment."
Ringo did a double take. "A conde-"
"A spice!" Jeremy interupts crossing his arms.
"Ohh." Ringo relaxes before turning once he spotted me looking at him with my hands on my hips.
"He's right." John says stopping me from saying anything. "It's pepper."
"Pepper?" Paul questions looking at the pile of the spice in his hand in doubt.
John, being the meanie he was blew the pepper out of his hand and into the air. "Pepper."
"ACHOOO!" Ringo sneezed.
George followed soon after. "ACHOO."
And then oddly enough.... the heads did as well.
"Ah..."
"Oh dear." I mutter as I clung onto Ringo.
"Ah..!"
"HOLD ON EVERYONE!" John comanded.
"Achhhooooossss." (Though I swear to god they said "A douche" XD)
The next thing either of us knew, we were flying over the headlands of the foothills. Before falling into a black hole in the ground.
Still clinging onto to Ringo I looked around at the other guys to see if they were panicking or not.
Much to my shock they all seemed very calm.
George had simply crossed his arms as he flew in, Paul had his hands up like a kid going down the slide, Jeremy was like myself and clung onto John who didn't seemed to be bothered by it and simply held him.
Ringo and I..... oh my.
I was straddling poor Ringo with my legs around his waist and holding him in fear, he on the other hand was leaning against John's back with his hands on my back.
I could feel my face turn red and my heart pounding in my chest. I prayed to Chopin that Ringo couldn't hear it.
He looked up at me and grinned shyly before patting my back. "No worries love we will be alriiiiiiiiggghhhtt!"
Ringo's comfort was interrupted by us being out of the black hole into a world full of holes. We bounced off the holes like we were balls in a pinball machine!
I thought it would never stop! The boys and Jeremy, bless their hearts tried to catch me whenever I flew near them but to no success.
"Hold still Nemo!" George grunted as he flew over my head.
"I am holding still!" I shout. "I haven't moved an inch blame gravity for it!"
And with that I fell through one of the black holes, disappearing from the boys sight and them from mine. For the first time since the glove, I was afraid.
