Chapter 6 – The Nowhere Man Jeremy Hillary Boob Ph.D.

Somehow through crumpets and tea we found ourselves… nowhere. Really I have no idea where the monster went but it disappeared along with the background and the beasts.

“By Neptune’s knickerbockers, she’s puttered out!” Uncle informed me.

“Well maybe we should call a road service?” John suggested.

“Can’t, no road.” Paul shook his head.

“And we’re not.. sub-scribers.” Ringo added with a grin.

(And thus the word Subscribers was made lol)

“Subscribers….!” We all groaned.

George walked over to Uncle Fred. “I know something about motors, let me have a look.”

“Here.” Uncle showed him.

Now I can understand George’s disbelief at the sight of the small motor. What with the submarine being huge and having so many things in it, such power for such a little thing.

“Is that the motor?” George asks with a small laugh.

Uncle frowned. “Can’t you tell one when you see one?”

George lifted a hand with a grin. “Course I can let me peruse it-“

The next thing any of us new George was flashing different colors and making different faces before he pulled away.

“What do you think?” John asks nonchalantly.

“I think I burnt me finger.” He said looking at his burnt finger with a pout.

Insert face palm

“Here, Nemo, lads!” Ringo called us. “Look at this.”

We all looked at one another before making our way to the windows at first we weren’t seeing anything until Ringo directed my head out the window and to the front where a strange puff creature sat typing away on a typewriter (so want one of those) in the middle of this nowhere land.

“What do you think it is?” John asks.

“Nothing.” George replies.

“Yeah it looks like nothing.” Ringo agrees.

“It’s a local inhabitant.” Paul tells us.

“He’s probably one of the nothings.” Ringo says.

“At least that’s something…” I blink. “Oh dear Beethoven I am starting to sound like you guys!”

“Oy.” The guys pout at me.

“We are not all that bad.” Ringo mutters crossing his arms.

“Anyways let us get out of the submarine.” Paul tells us with a wave of his hand.

We all gave a shrug and followed him out and towards the creature.

“Hey, let’s show him our motor-“

“Steady on.” John interrupts stopping us. “I mean you don’t to be showing your motor to just everybody.”

“Wow John really?” I ask giving him a raised eyebrow.

“Yeah.” George says. “But this is a nobody.”

Dear Mozart George could you say that any louder?!

Either the creature heard him or just sensed us coming he began to talk. “Medic, pedic, zed oblique, orphic, morphic, dorphic, Greek. Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo so little time haha, so much to know.”

I blinked. This guy makes less sense than the guys?! How is that possible?

While John, George, Paul and I walked towards him Ringo decided to go off and explore the nothingness.

“Hey, can you tell us where we’re at?” John asks.

“A true Socratic query, that.” The creature said.

(I actually had to look that word up... It doesn’t exist.)

“Oh yeah?” John wonders. “And who the Billy Shears are you?”

“Who?” the creature says asks scratching the side of its face smiling before shoving cards into our hands. “Ah who indeed am I?”

John looked down at the card with a raised eyebrow. “Jeremy?”

“Hillary?” Paul and I read out loud.

“..Boob?” George questions.

Ringo narrowed his eyes on the card. “Fffhd?”

“Who?” the guys ask in unison.

I went over to Ringo and took the card looking at it before giving a sigh. “That’s Ph.D. Ringo.”

“Oh yeah.” Ringo mutters with a grin.

I shook my head grinning back at him and turned back to… Jeremy as he starts dancing around us.

“Eminent physicist, polyglot, classicist, prize-winning botanist (I thought he said bottle-list for the longest time XD) hard biting satirist, talented pianist, good dentist, too.” He laughs.

“A lousy poet.” George comments.

Jeremy narrows his eyes at him but shrugs with a smile. “Critic’s voice, take your choice.”

He then looks over to me and gasps. “By my very eyes was I blind to realize that there was a lady among you guys!”

I giggled as he ran over to me and grabbed my hand. “Hello Jeremy, my name is Nemo and these are my friends; John, Paul, George, and Ringo.”

Jeremy looked at me in confusion. “Nemo, Latin nobody but you’re not a nobody you are a somebody!”

I nod. “Indeed I am that’s why I do not give a damn.”

The creature seems to be amused by my rhyming skills and patted my hand before running about the boys. What a strange little fellow, a nice one though, better than the monsters to say the least.

“He must be one of them angry young men.” Ringo observes.

I turned to look at him but did a double take; Ringo was floating in the air, lying down as it were.

“How? Ringo, wha-“ I stuttered

He took one look at me before poking my cheek and the next thing I knew I was floating in the air with him.

“What the hell!?” I exclaim flapping my arms to keep my balance.

The others didn’t seem to find Ringo and I floating out of the ordinary which begs the question what have they seen in their lives?

“Or a daffy old creep.” Paul says.

Jeremy gives Paul a frown before ‘hymphing’ “I, daffy old creep?”

Walks further away from us, I was about to swim over to Paul and give him a good whack on the head for his rudeness when George started questioning Jeremy which seemed to have Jeremy smiling once more.

“Do you speak English?” George asks.

“Old English, middle, a dialect, pure…”

Paul interrupted… okay how the heck did he go from beside me to in front of Jeremy?! Any who he interrupts. “Well do you speak English?”

“You know, I’m not sure.” Jeremy replies looking puzzled.

“He’s so smart.” Ringo said from behind George who finally made a WTF face at him as he floated to the ground. “He doesn’t even remember what he knows.”

Paul looked down at the motor with a thoughtful look before looking over to John. “Why don’t we show him our motor?”

John, who was leaning against the tree Jeremy created the whole time during the question sat up and hugged his legs.

“Should we really… show him our motor?” he wonders.

Paul nodded in agreement to John’s doubt. “He may not have seen one before?”

What Paul and John didn’t know was that Jeremy had been staring at the motor and overheard what Paul said before leaping towards Paul and taking a look at the motor.

“Turbo-prop, super-combustible spring.” Jeremy began fiddling with the motor. “Metrocyclonic and stereophonic, this motor I see has a broken down thing.”

And with a smack on the motor it came alive, sounding as good as new. John got up and walked to Paul looking at the motor before looking over to me.

“He fixed it?” he asks.

I picked up the motor from Paul’s hand to inspect it, after a few minutes I turned off the motor and smiled at Jeremy before turning to the boys. “He fixed it.”

“Great!” Paul exclaimed. “Let’s go.”

While the boys began walking to the submarine, I turned back to thank Jeremy when I saw that he was now carving a stone head statue of himself and quite well to.

“I must complete my bust, two novels, finish my blue prints, begin my beguine.” He reminded himself as he formed his sculpture to a painting of the piano from before.

“Hey Jeremy.” John calls walking back. “Must you always talk in rhyme?”

Jeremy laughs. “Haha if I spoke prose, you’d all find out, I don’t know what I talk about.”

The picture of the piano became the piano before our eyes once more as Jeremy began to play. “Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo so little time, so much to know.”

We all just sort of look at each other not really knowing how to react to this creature of such talent. Which is new to me since so far we have always seem to have a way and getting out of things.

“Hey fellas look.” Paul says pointing back to Jeremy.

If I wasn’t impressed by now I am most certainly am now. Jeremy was hopping on one foot while writing something with his other foot.

“The footnotes for my 19th book.” He explains. “This is my standard procedure for doing it and while I compose it I’m also reviewing it.”

I blinked. “Wow.”

“A boob for all seasons.” George says with a nod.

“How can he lose?” Paul wonders.

“Were your notices good?” John asks.

“It’s my policy never to read my reviews.” Jeremy answers before running away.

John scratches his head. “There must be a word for what he is.”

“A mary-sue author that everyone wishes to be?” I say with a raised eyebrow.

John shakes head and pointed and oh guess what?

He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

I do not honestly know what gets these guys into the singing mood and also where all these plants animals and flowers come from I mean I have seen them before in Pepperland but never anywhere else maybe this was what Pepperland looked like long before anyone’s tine and this empty land is only getting started... Or maybe I am thinking deeply about this.

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

I was taken out of my thoughts by something tugging on my dress. I looked to see Jeremy smiling at me before he grabbed my hand as he carried a huge bird like creature about twirling and dancing to the song before placing it on the ground and to my surprise lifted me onto it before running off somewhere else.

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

I watch in fascination and wonder as the boys simply walked about as Jeremy continued summoning creatures a freakin rainbow and even drew something that looked like an LP which actually went around in circles.

He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

I had to balance myself on the line as we all started going around in circles while Jeremy was having the time of his as the boys continued to sing.

Nowhere Man, don't worry

Take your time, don't hurry

Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand

All of the sudden the boys started going backwards as if they were going back through time like we did through the sea of time, leaving Jeremy and me behind. My heart almost broke at seeing Jeremy wave sadly good bye to the boys, I walked over to him and placed my hand on his shoulder as he started to wipe his tears.

Doesn't have a point of view

Knows not where he's going to

Isn't he a bit like you and me?

As Jeremy became sadder everything started to fade and the circle became smaller till there was nothing else.

Nowhere Man, please listen

You don't know what you're missing

Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's a real Nowhere Man

Sitting in his nowhere land

Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

By the end of the song poor Jeremy was crying on the floor one of his hands covering his face while the other one held my hand. I could see the guys calling me over, but I didn’t have the heart to leave Jeremy, it must have been a while since he had company and all we did was remind him of it.

I looked back to the guys and frowned at them as all but Ringo started leaving for the submarine. Ringo had the decency to ask about Jeremy and unfortunately for John I heard him when he said that Jeremy was happy enough going around in circles.

“John!” I shouted at him. “Does he look happy right now? You twat!”

“Don’t bad mouth for me.” Jeremy whimpered. “I am a Nowhere man and that is how it should be.”

“But Jeremy, a Nowhere man doesn’t have be alone.” I said trying to think up a rhyme for him. “He can have many friends of his own.”

Jeremy looked up at me and smiled. “That was very well done lady; soon you’ll be better than McCrady.”

I was about to ask him who McCrady was when I saw Ringo running towards us, quite quickly I must say.

“Hey, uh Mr. Boob.” Ringo say crouching down. “You can come with us if you like.”

Jeremy looks surprised. “You mean you’d take a Nowhere man?”

Ringo smiles and takes Jeremy’s other hand and picked him up. “Yeah, come on we’ll take you somewhere.”

With Jeremy holding my other hand we headed to the Yellow Submarine.

“Ringo, that was very sweet of you.” I tell him as Jeremy climbed up the submarine.

Ringo shrugs. “The boys had a feeling you would hurt them if we left him behind so the deal was he can come with us as long as you didn’t.”

I blinked before grinning. “Ah so they do a have a brain.”

And with that I went up the ladder with a smirking Ringo behind me.

A/n: I do not know why the song is clumped together like that... but is driving me crazy! And I cannot go onto the wattpad website on my laptop because the adds annoy the crud out of :(
Anyhow how did you guys like my attemping of rhyming? :)
