One Piece Halloween Special! (2018)
I'm feeling spooky... Mwahahahaha.... Since it is close enough to my favorite holiday, I thought I might as well do a Halloween special, since I did a Christmas one a couple years ago. I won't take away too much from the main story, since it's getting good.
So, enjoy my Halloween Special. Then, the story shall continue...
----------------
A loud bump woke me from a sound sleep. I jerked awake and glanced around the dark room, trying to figure out what had made that noise.
I'm alone. No one is in the room with me. It's probably just Luffy trying to get a late night snack again. I sighed to myself, asking why I had reacted like I did over nothing.
Just as I was laying back down, there was another crash, louder than the first. I shrugged it off, thinking it was Sanji going after Luffy once more. Those two are always after each other with one thing or another.
The next thing my ears heard raised goosebumps along my skin and made my tail fuzz. It was a rhythmic sound, almost haunting. A single thump was followed by what sounded like chains scraping along the wood of the ship.
And it's coming right down the hall towards my room.
I gulped and quickly got out of bed. I need to either hide, or wake the crew. But the only way to wake the crew is if I leave my room and get to the main deck. I don't have time to do that.
My heart started pounding louder as the person got closer to my room. Since I'm down at the end of the hall, I know they're coming for me. Before I ducked under my bed, I grabbed my katana and made my bed look like I was still sleeping in it.
I examined my bed, then decided that it wouldn't hide me well. My heart nearly leaped into my throat when the feet stopped right outside my door. I used the move I learned from Kuro and slipped right into my bathroom. I'm so glad I did, because right then and there, the hand of the person grabbed my door handle and slowly eased it open.
I could hear their heavy breathing and they grunted every few seconds with each exhale. I stayed perfectly still, katana ready. But I was certain the person could hear my racing heart.
They slowly scanned the room, the black shadow of the person looming threateningly in the middle of the room. His massive shoulders rolled as he shifted his position. His breathing became heavier and his grunts became louder and more raspy. From what it sounds like, this guy could easily flick me away as if I was merely a bug. I have to be careful and plan my attacks.
The person stopped before my bed. "Mira," He whispered and I felt myself pale. Oh God, he knows my name... "Mira..." He knelt down a bit and touched where my head would have been. He swore when he realized I wasn't in the bed and turned from it.
"Damn it, Mira..." He sighed and turned. There! That's his back! He paced over to my desk and groaned as he tried to light my lamp.
Now's my chance... I pulled my katana into a position to make it easier to strike with and slowly tip toed over to the massive form before me. He swore once more when the match wouldn't light. Soon, I was right before him.
I took in a deep breath just as the match finally lit. Aim for the shoulders... The person touched the match to the lamp and picked it up. I growled and swung, letting out a small cry.
"Mira!" Instead of hitting the person, I ended up knocking the lamp from his hand, shattering it and plummeting us back into the dark.
"Get out of my room, you bastard!" I swung again, hoping to hit the person.
"Damn it, Mira!" The person moved again out of my blade's reach. "Stop!"
"No!" I lunged forward to pierce through their gut. "First you invade my room, then try to kill me as I sleep! You will pay for messing with me!"
"Mira, quit!" Metal clashed on metal. "I already can't move very well right now! Don't test me!"
"Too damn bad!" I growled and jumped back a bit. "It's not my fault you made yourself huge!"
The person grunted and just like magic, the massive form leaned to his side and the bulging form gave way to a lean, yet still muscular form. "I can't help it if Nami wanted me to get all the boxes down from below deck!"
I blinked, confused. "What?"
"Mira, it's Zoro!" He snapped. Zoro, or so he says he is, turned back to my desk and produced another, smaller lamp and lit it.
"Oh," The light illuminated his face, allowing me to see that it is Zoro. "Sorry about that..."
He frowned at me and placed his hands on his katana hilts. "What made you think I was coming to kill you?"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Well, gee. Maybe the fact that it sounded like a huge guy with chains attached to him was heading right for my room?"
He turned the lamp to show a bunch of boxes with odd looking items sticking out of them. "These are decorations. We're decorating the ship."
I blinked at them and knelt down. "They don't look like Christmas decorations..."
"That's because they're not." He explained as he grabbed a skull from a box. "These are Halloween decorations."
I blinked slowly as I stared at the realistic looking skull. "Halloween...?"
"Do you not know what Halloween is either?" I shook my head. "Figures... I'll explain once we get to the main deck. Help me carry these boxes." He didn't ask for my help. He just said it as if I didn't have a choice.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed half of the boxes. "Why do we even have so many decorations?"
"Well," Zoro grunted as he got the rest. "Nami loves Christmas, and Usopp says he loves Halloween simply because of all the tricks one can play on others." We headed towards the main deck.
"So, Halloween is mainly about tricking people?" I asked.
"That, and scaring the shit out of people." We made it to the main deck and set the things down near the mast.
"Ooh," I grinned wickedly. "I get to scare people... Sounds fun!"
Zoro snorted and rolled his eyes. "Not only that, but you can dress up in a costume."
"Dress... up?" Okay, who would want to do that? "Why would you want to dress up? Don't you know how awful those clothes are that the rich people wear? Why would you want to dress up like them?!"
"No, not like that." He groaned. He rummaged through a box and pulled out a few articles of clothing. "I mean like this." My eyes bugged wide when he put them on.
"You look just like Buggy!" I exclaimed. "But, why?"
"Because," He quickly shrugged out of the attire. "On Halloween, you dress up as something you're not. According to myth and lore, the fabric of space between the real world and the world of the dead is thin on Halloween night. On that night, the dead and supernatural beings are allowed to cross over and see what Earth is like. If they see little monsters or whatever running around, they join them for the night gathering goodies to bring back with them to the world of the dead."
"Goodies?" I tipped my head. "You mean like sweets and candied apples and whatnot, right?"
"Exactly." Zoro tossed the costume aside and pulled out a wad of white cotton. "Now, Usopp told me that after dinner, he wanted this ship to be so spooky for tomorrow night, the dead won't want to come to our ship, or whatever he said. We know how big of a scaredy cat he is."
I chuckled. "That he is." An idea suddenly occurred to me. "Hey, I have an idea. You in?" Zoro looked over to me, then smirked.
~~~~
"So, did you spook the ship up?" Usopp asked in the morning when we sat down to eat.
I yawned. "Yeah, the entire place is decked out in all the decorations down below."
"Awesome!" He stood. "I gotta check it out!"
"No!" Zoro and I leaped to our feet. "I-I mean, uh... You can't see it until tonight." I gave a nervous laugh. "It's a surprise for you. You can't see it until tonight. If you saw it during the day, it wouldn't have the spooky factor to it. You can see it when the sun goes down, alright?"
He huffed, but sat back in his seat. "Fine... But just so you know, it better be good! I don't want any dead people exploring our ship tonight!"
"Dead people?" Luffy asked through a bite of meat. "Why would they be here?"
"It's Halloween!" Usopp exclaimed. "The veil between worlds becomes thin and the people in the world of the dead are able to cross over and terrorize us! I don't want to take that chance, so we have to make our ship so spooky, they'll be too afraid to come near us!"
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. In any case, no one will be coming on the ship tonight. Zoro and I will make sure of it. Right?"
"Right," Zoro nodded. "As stupid as I think this is, I'll do it."
"Because Mira said you had to, right?" Nami stuck her tongue out at him as he frowned at her.
"No, that's not it." He grumpily ate his food and I giggled. I didn't tell him to do anything. He willingly agreed.
"Wait," We looked over to Sanji. "If Usopp isn't allowed to see the deck, then what about the rest of us?"
I thought that over. "Now that you mentioned it, no. No one is allowed to see it until sundown. So, Zoro and I will escort everyone one-by-one to your rooms, then we'll come get you to show you the place. Sound good?"
"Sounds good to me!" Luffy swallowed a large bite and let out a small sigh. "Man, am I full..."
"Zoro, escort Luffy." I stared at the other three. "I'll watch them."
"I'm still eating." He said around a bite of food.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Does it look like I care? We all know Luffy can't sit still for more than two seconds. We can't have him ruin the surprise."
Zoro let out a gusty sigh before standing up and covering Luffy's eyes as he took him back to his room. I watched the others intently, making sure they made no movement towards the door. They squirmed under my intense gaze, not daring to make any sudden movements.
Finally, Zoro returned. "He almost ruined the surprise." Zoro huffed as he flopped back down at the table.
I crossed my arms. "I'm glad you didn't let him. Nami, you ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be..." She stood and I covered her eyes as I took her to her room. We remained silent the entire walk there. Not once did she ask questions.
"Okay," I shut her door once we entered the room. "I'll be back for you for lunch, alright?"
"Okay..." She turned towards her desk and headed for it.
"And," She looked over her shoulder to me. "I'll know if you're trying to leave, so don't even try it." She swore softly, then nodded.
I left her room, then raced back to the kitchen. I had Zoro take Sanji and I got Usopp. Together, we got them to the room and I told the three guys that we'd be back for them at lunch, and to not leave, for we'd know if they were to try and leave.
Once that was taken care of, Zoro and I headed back to the main deck to make sure everything was in place.
"The anchor is in place, right?" I asked. "I don't want us to be floating on open water while this is going on."
"We're good, Mira." He assured me. "We're not going anywhere."
I smirked. "Good. I can't wait until night fall." I punctuated my sentence with a wicked chuckle.
Third Person Point of View....
The sun has set over the waters and the Going Merry. All seemed rather calm on the ship. Zoro and Mira were adding the finishing touches on the decorations on the ship, making sure everything was perfect before they showed the crew the work they had done.
"Okay," Mira turned to Zoro. "I'll go retrieve Nami. You get the guys a few moments after I get her. We have to make sure this is perfect down to the very last half second."
"I know," He groaned, hearing this for the millionth time. "There mustn't be a second of hesitation with any of this. It has to be perfect, blah, blah, blah... I get it, I get it. I won't screw this up."
"You better not." Mira pointed a finger right in his face. "If something happens, I'm blaming you."
"Why blame me?" Zoro asked, but Mira was already walking towards Nami's room. "Why blame me?!"
But Mira wasn't listening. She was too focused on making sure she timed everything just right. She counted and timed how long it took for her to walk to Nami's room from the main deck. On the way there, Mira checked one last thing, then walked the final steps to Nami's room.
Mira knocked softly on the door, then stepped in. "Hey, Nami." She greeted.
Nami looked up from her desk, setting her book down. "Oh, hey Mira. Can I come out of my room now? I've read nearly every book and I'm so bored..." She complained.
Mira laughed softly at that. As she was speaking, she heard Zoro's boots pass by the room. "Yeah, it's time to see the ship now. Ready?"
Nami leaped up from her desk and stretched. "Finally! Let's go!" Mira chuckled at her then left the room with Nami right behind her.
"You're gonna love the ship." Mira said with a grin. "We've got cobwebs everywhere, fog, spiders, slime, skeletons-" There was a sudden soft click. Mira only had a second's notice before a large hand reached out of the darkness, snatching her up and pulling her into the black abyss down the hall. Her scream echoed down the hall before it seemed to vanish.
Nami screamed at clutched at her hair, not believing what she had just seen. "Oh my God oh my God oh my God..." She whimpered as her legs threatened to give out from under her.
"Nami!" Usopp, Zoro, Luffy, and Sanji raced from their room to see her standing, frozen in terror, staring down the hall. "Nami, what happened?" Sanji asked as he tried to pull her hands from her hair.
"M-Mira..." She squeaked out. "We-we were walking t-to the main deck... and... and she was suddenly snatched up by a hand and pulled into the darkness..." She lifted a shaky hand, but didn't dare raise it any farther than a few inches in front of her, thinking whatever took Mira would take her.
Usopp suddenly cried out. "Mira and Zoro didn't make the ship scary enough! The dead are gonna take us and sacrifice us!"
Nami let out a sob. "I don't wanna die! I'm too young and beautiful to be sacrificed!"
"I'll go get her." Zoro took a step towards the ominous hall.
"I'm coming." Luffy and Sanji said at the same time.
"No," Zoro glanced at them over his shoulder. "You guys need to stay with Nami and try to calm her. I'm fairly certain Usopp won't be any help."
"H-hey!" Usopp's voice quivered. "I-I-I can calm her! I-I'm n-not scare of dead p-people!"
"Zombie," Sanji said calmly and both Nami and Usopp screamed and turned to see nothing behind them. "I see your point..." Sanji sighed as he faced Zoro once more. "You better bring Mira back safe, though, or I'll kill you myself."
"I promise," Zoro said with a light sigh.
"Be careful, Zoro." Luffy said seriously as he looked down the hall. "Bring back Mira."
"I know," With that, Zoro jogged into the dark hall, the blackness seeming to swallow him whole in just a few steps. Ten seconds later, the sound of his foot fall died off.
"Will he be okay?" Nami asked softly as she leaned into Luffy for comfort.
"Yeah," Luffy's eyes never left where Zoro had gone. "He's tough. He can handle anything."
"Anything but a ghost..." Usop commented. "His blades will go right through them and not even hurt them." Nami whimpered while Sanji conked Usopp upside his head.
"Stop scaring Nami!" He snapped. "Can't you see that she's already scared beyond belief?"
"Sh!!" Usopp quickly covered Sanji's mouth. "Don't be so loud! They'll hear you and come for us next!"
"W-who...?" Nami whimpered.
"The monsters!" Usop wailed. "They'll bring us back to the world of the dead, then present us to their monster king! He'll devour us all, unless we can get back before the sun rises!"
Nami screamed and clung to Luffy tighter as more tears streamed down her face. Sanji, once more, smacked Usopp's head.
"I said knock it off!" He growled. "It's okay, Nami-chan!" He patted her shoulder and had her move to cling to him. "Both Mira and Zoro will be fine. They know how to handle themselves."
"But they can't hit ghosts!" Sanji glared at Usopp. "Goblins eat metal! Ogres eat Nekos! Shadows possess people! They're doomed, I tell you! Doooomed!!!" This time, both Nami and Sanji hit Usopp.
Sanji glanced over to Luffy to see that he hadn't even moved an inch. "You're very calm about this, Luffy."
Luffy blinked once. "I'm waiting." Was all he said.
"For them to come back?" Nami whispered. Luffy didn't answer; just stared. He was waiting for something to happen so he would know whether to run down the hall, or rejoice that his crew members had returned.
He knew what to do in both scenarios.
"But the chances of them coming back are so slim!" Usopp wailed. "This is Halloween night! The veil between the living and the dead is thin, meaning anything could enter our world and take us away! I bet that's what happened to Mira! That hall there is the gate way the the world of the dead! They're not gonna return before the sun rises again!"
"I said knock it off!" Sanji and Usopp got into a wrestling match, each shouting and trying to throw in either a punch or a kick to the other.
Just then, a cold frost started to creep out from the hall. Luffy's mouth parted open slightly as he watched the frost steadily inching closer to them.
Nami shivered when the cold reached her and she took a step back. When the chill reached Usopp and Sanji, they leaped away from each other, wrapping their arms tightly around each other for warmth.
All eyes were now trained on the hall as the frost and fog started to drift from the hall, seeming to appear out of no where.
"We have to go after them." Luffy suddenly said.
"Are you crazy?!" Usop shrieked at Luffy. "If we go in there, we'll never make it out! We'll be forced to run and hide from the monsters and the dead for an entire year until Halloween comes back! Doomed to wander aimlessly and hope we don't lose each other! No food! No water! We'll never last! We'll be doomed, I tell you! Doooomed!!!" He sobbed as he slunk to his knees.
Just then, a scream echoed from far down the hall. More specifically, Zoro's scream.
"Let's go!" Luffy, Sanji, even Nami, raced down the hall.
"W-w-w-w-wait for me!!" Usopp scrambled to get his wits and courage up to follow after them.
Half way down the frigid cold hall, the four slowed their pace to a slow walk, their gazes taking in what they were seeing. Glowing red and amber colored eyes followed them as they walked down the poorly lit hall. Candles seemed to be hovering in mid-air beside them, a light bob making the flame flicker slightly.
The temperature steadily got colder the farther they walked down the hall. It soon got to the point to where they were huddled around each other for warmth, their breaths lingering in front of them.
"Wh-what is this place?" Usopp asked quietly as his gaze locked with snake-like red eyes.
"I don't know..." Sanji replied as equally quietly. "Whatever this place is, it's not something I'm familiar with. It's surreal."
Nami froze in place when her foot squished in something. "Guys..." She barely squeaked out. "I stepped in something..." Her voice broke three times when she tried to speak.
Luffy snatched one of the candles and knelt down to her foot to see what it was. The red liquid glistened in the dull light. It was still slowly running, and it was thick. Luffy followed the trail up with his eyes and stood.
"Blood." Nami choked back a scream at Luffy's response. The four stepped closer to Luffy to see what he was seeing. A large gash was in the wall, blood spatters following the blade at an angle. The blood oozed down the wall where it pooled at the spot the floor and wall met.
"Either Zoro got something..." Usopp gulped. "Or something got Zoro..."
"Please don't say that..." Nami whimpered. "I don't want to think about that..."
"Come on," The group huddled behind Luffy as he led the way with the candle. He seemed unaffected by what he was seeing in this hall. His gaze and his thoughts were set out ahead of him, his only intentions being to get his friends out safely.
A screech suddenly filled the air as some of the eyes started jumping down on the group.
"Bats!" Nami sobbed as she ducked. "Anything but bats!"
"Zombie bats!" Usopp cried as he, too, ducked to avoid them. Sanji kicked a few away from him and Luffy simply swatted them away.
Nami scrambled to follow after Luffy, who was starting to take their only light source away from them. The candles that had been floating around them flew off with the bats back the way they had come from.
Once everyone had their bearing back, Sanji glanced back to see that there was nothing but impeding darkness hovering outside their faint candle light. He shivered slightly from the cold and slight fear as he followed after Luffy and the others, bringing up the rear.
"Luffy, are we almost there yet?" Usopp asked as he poked Luffy's shoulder.
"Don't know." Was all Luffy said. "We must be getting close, though."
"I hope so..." And so they trudged on.
After a long while of walking, the group came upon a flight of rickety stairs. The source of the fog and frost was coming from up the stairs. All eyes were trained on the faint light coming from above.
Luffy was the first to move. "Come on." He placed his foot carefully on the first step, only to have it break, a few of the splinters piercing through his skin. He barely flinched at the pain as he stretched his foot up to the very top of the stairs and stretch back to meet with his foot. He let go of the candle, slightly shocked to see it still floating, then turned and stretched his hand down to help his crew mates up.
First came Nami, then Usopp, and lastly Sanji. The group's gaze slowly wandered around their surroundings, not believing what they were seeing.
"It... almost looks like our ship..." Nami stated at she stared at the tattered sails and cobweb infested railings. She flinched as a large, hairy spider scurried off.
"They have to be here." Luffy's gaze flickered to each thing that was on the main section of the deck. "They couldn't have gotten far. Come on." He left the candle suspending in air and relied on the faint light given by the moon to light their path. The group stepped over breaks and cracks in the wood, afraid they might end up falling to who knows where below.
Luffy brushed a bit of the tattered, dirt covered sail out of his way as he stepped through it, the others following suit. Luffy managed to step over a puddle of slime, but Usopp wasn't as lucky. He and Nami almost slipped, had Sanji and Luffy not caught them.
"Be careful," Sanji whispered to Nami as he stood her up again. "I don't want you getting hurt." She nodded slowly and followed more carefully behind Luffy and Usopp in front of her.
"They have to be here somewhere..." Luffy said more to himself than anyone else.
"Oh, they are..." A deep, sinister voice chuckled from somewhere. The group froze, trying to locate the voice. "I was beginning to think you guys would never show... Did you enjoy my minions?"
"Minions?" Luffy questioned.
"The bats." The voice replied. "Weren't they a nice touch? You know, I could have had them bite and infect you, but what fun would that be? Had that happened, I would have never seen you guys get so far with your stupidity!" Another bone rattling laugh boomed above and around them, as if the air itself was speaking to them.
"Where's Mira and Zoro?!" Luffy demanded, clenching his fists.
"Hm? Oh, the Neko and swordsman?" Another chuckle. "I'm making them part of my army. They have such exceptional skills."
"Let them go!" Luffy growled. "Show yourself so I can kick your ass for taking them!"
"Luffy..." All eyes snapped to their left. There stood Mira, pale and nearly translucent. "Just go... I promise I'll be fine..."
"No!" Luffy shouted. "You have to come back with us, Mira!" He insisted. "We're nakama! We have to stick together, no matter what! We can't leave without you!"
Mira shook her head. "You have to... The sun will be rising in an hour... If you don't get back, you'll be trapped here."
"We don't care!" Sanji took a step toward Mira. "We'd rather be stuck here with you if it meant we stuck together!"
"Y-yeah!" Nami stood up beside Sanji. "I don't care if I'm scared out of my mind right now! We can't leave without you!"
"I-I-I-I'll st-stay!" Usopp stammered, his legs shaking terribly. "Y-y-y-you helped me, I-I'll help you!"
Mira locked eyes with each of her friends before taking a shaky step forward. "It's not safe here..."
"So?" Luffy extended his hand towards Mira. "Please, let's go find Zoro and head back before it's too late." Reluctantly, Mira reached for Luffy's hand and took it.
"Aw, how touching..." Everyone's head snapped up to see a looming figure above them in the crow's nest. "But I'm afraid Zoro won't be joining you..." At the sound of fingers snapping, Zoro appeared from the front of the ship.
"Zoro!" Luffy cried out cheerfully. "Thank goodness you're alive! Let's get out of this creepy place!" Zoro stopped a few feet from them. "Zoro?"
"This is why I said it was dangerous..." Mira whispered. "Zoro... he's..."
Zoro drew out his katanas, the pale moon light glinting off the blades. They reflected perfectly over his eyes to reveal that they were glowing bright red.
Usopp and Nami screamed and clung to each other. "He's been possessed! Now we'll never make it out of here alive! We'll be forced to wander here and avoid dying by the hand of Zoro!"
"No!" Mira leaped forward and met Zoro with her own katana and nails to block the blades and keep Zoro in place. "You guys get out of here! Now! Before it's too late! The sun's starting to rise! I promise I'll see you again next year!"
"We're not leaving without you!" Luffy shouted to her. Metal clashed on metal as Mira and Zoro were locked in a deadly combat of the blades. All the while, Luffy, Sanji, Nami, and Usopp stood on the sidelines, helpless. Even if Zoro is possessed, neither of them could bring themselves in anyway to harm him and protect Mira.
Usopp looked to the horizon and gasped. "G-guys! I see the sun! We have to go now!"
"Not without Mira and Zoro!" Luffy looked up to the figure watching them from above in his perch. He stood there, not moving. Something clicked in Luffy as his gaze flickered from Zoro to the figure. "And I know exactly how we're going to leave with both of them."
Luffy swung his arm back. "Gomu Gomu no... PISTOL!" He launched his arm forward with all his might, his aim right for the figure watching the scene. Luffy connected perfectly to his target and what looked like a head with a large hat with torn ribbons went sailing out to the water.
The second the head splashed into the water, Zoro froze in place and blinked. "Mira...?"
Mira panted hard and gave Zoro a small smile. "Hey..."
Zoro stood and glanced around. "Where... where are we...?"
"We're getting out of here!" Usopp shouted as he rushed over to Zoro and gripped his arm, tugging, trying to get him to move. "The sun will be up at any second and we'll be trapped here."
Realization flashed across his face as he looked out to the rising sun. "Too late..." Everyone's gaze was cast out to the east. The sun had risen and was touching its light everywhere.
"NOOOOOOOOO!!" Usopp collapsed to his knees. "We're too late..."
Mira's shoulders shook heavily as she watched the sun rise higher in the sky. "Mira..." Sanji placed a hand on her shoulder. His eyes suddenly scrunched together a bit and pulled his hand back. "What the...?"
Mira whirled around, a huge grin in place. "Happy Halloween!" She beamed at the group.
Nami's and Usopp's mouths flopped open to the ground. "THIS WAS ALL FAKE?!?!"
"Yup!" Mira pulled a rag out from her pocket and wiped the flour from her face. "Zoro and I were both in on it! We've been planning this for two days! My gosh, you guys should have seen your faces! I wish I had a way to record it!"
Zoro began busting up laughing. "Do you guys really think I'd be possessed by something? I don't believe in Santa, so what makes you think I believe in ghosts and monsters?"
Sanji gave a soft chuckle. "We've been fooled... That was pretty good, you two. Especially you, Mira-chan! I seriously thought we had lost you! You're an amazing actor!" Mira dodged his bone crushing hug.
Mira shook her head and looked over to a silent Luffy, who had his head lowered. "Luffy...?"
Luffy's form began to shake. A few second later, he threw his head back with a loud laugh. "You guys really had me! I was fooled! I should have known that you guys would try something! Love the decorations, by the way." The Strawhat Crew looked around the ship, able to see what surrounded them. Fake cobwebs hung from all over the ship and fake goo covered the railings. The real sails were piled in a corner of the ship out of the way and ready to be put up once the old sheets were taken down.
What was making the candles float was the thin string they were attached to. The bats were pieces of cloth tied in the shape of a bat with tiny lights inside of them. The lights on the walls were also tiny lights covered in thin colored paper. Zoro removed the glasses that gave him the affect of having glowing eyes and showed them to Usopp and the others.
After more explanations of how everything was put together, and many laughs were shared, Sanji clapped his hands together once. "Well, now that that's out of the way, who wants breakfast?"
"Me, me!" Luffy called out and raised his hand. "I do! I do!" He then promptly raced to the kitchen to wait for the food to be served. Nami, Usopp, and Sanji slowly followed behind him.
Nami stopped before the door to the kitchen. "Aren't you two coming?" She asked to Mira and Zoro.
Mira nodded. "Here in a bit. We gotta clean up a few things so they don't blow away in the wind." Nami nodded, then shut the kitchen door when she entered.
---------------
Mira
Once Nami was in the kitchen, I turned to Zoro. "That actually went off without a hitch. They reacted exactly as we had planned."
"Yeah," Zoro draped an arm over my shoulders and stared at the Halloween decoration mess before us. "We couldn't have planned that any better. By the way, nice touch with the mist."
I tipped my head in confusion. "Mist? I thought you did that?"
"No...?" Zoro drew the word out. "I didn't make the mist. I thought you did." Our eyes widened and we glanced around the ship. "You don't think...?"
Our eyes met again and we grinned at each other. "Nah, it can't be. The weather was simply messing with us." I shook my head and took Zoro's hand as we headed towards the kitchen for breakfast.
But I swear that something was watching us...
