Marlon POV

A full time job. That I can't get.

I sighed, looking at the computer screen. It was 2:00am and everyone else was asleep in their rooms.

I clenched my teeth and glared at my failure. All that hard work, gone....

I thought if I got straight hundreds that I would definitely get a fucking job. I'm 25 and depending on my mom's money the most for survival.

The girls have been trying to help but...I keep refusing. I should be taking care of them, not the other way around.

I heard my plant pot move then saw the door slightly opened. I ran to the girls room and saw a gigantic dark shadow over Ebony. She screamed in fear, trying to cast it away. I took up a lamb and tried to hit it but it was untouchable. Izzy woke up then immediately turned on the lights.

"Ebony, are you hurt?"

She closed her eyes tightly, looking at her arm. I carefully looked at it. A dark pigment. Spreading on her right arm.

"It hurts" she hiccupped as tears ran down her cheeks.

Izzy and Fuzzy started freaking out. "She's going to die!"

They started crying then Ebony cried harder. "I'm going to die!"

I took a deep breath and bridged my nose with my two fingers. "No one is going to die. I won't make that happen" I sighed.

They stopped and stared at me.

I kept on a nightlight in their room then went for a pain killer in my room and gave it to Ebony. She became puzzled, figuring how to take it. I showed her but she choked on one.

"You are trying to kill me!" she screamed angrily.

"You are the one not taking it right!" I shot back at her.

She trembled, frowning at me. "Sorry" she said softly. She's acting different?

I watched them crawl into their beds. "Good night" I smiled softly.

"Good night!" they giggled.

I went back to my bedroom and decided to go to bed. I got comfortable, snuggling in my bed that felt like clouds. I heard my door open. They were at the doorway, crying.

"Can we sleep with you?" Izzy got me at my weakness with her little voice and hands tugging my shirt.

I tried resist them giving me the puppy eyes. Why are they doing this to me?! I pouted. "Fine"

They jumped into my bed and hugged me. I chuckled hugging them back with my arms. Surprisingly, they fit.

Izzy and Fuzzy went to school, leaving me and Ebony home. I had to take care of her due to what happened last time. She looked different with sharp teeth and cat like eyes.

She sat down on the kitchen counter while I checked if anything else was wrong. "You...look different" I said slowly.

"How?" she blinked.

"More beast like"

She looked at her features in a nearby mirror in the living room and touched her sharp teeth. "What's happening to me?" she asked then turned around to me.

I screamed, covering my eyes when I saw the dark pigment on the half of her face with veins striking out around the eye right eye.

She cried hugging my waist. "I'm scared" she hiccupped. She suddenly pushed me away and growled. "Human, get away from me. I'll destroy you!" she screamed angrily.

I tried to reach to her but she pushed me again and cried. "Ebony, I'll-"

"I need to leave to protect you" she said, slowly walking backwards from me.

"Ebony!-"

She ran out of the house. I chased after her but a dark force field stopped me. The dark shadows surrounded her and had toothy smiles. The creepy ones.

"Ebony!" I slammed my hands against the force field.

She disappeared. I lost her.
