Ebony POV

Meat...

I drooled, walking towards the meats in the restaurant Marlon and I were working at. He grabbed me by the collar and glared at me. "Ebony, be a good girl" he said boldly.

"You can't tell me what to do" I scoffed.

He looked really scary, ignoring me while he helped the chef. I poked his back and felt a bit weird thinking that I hate him ignoring me.

"Yes?" he smiled creepily.

"Don't...ignore me" I said softly.

He smirked, patting my head. "We are working now," he chuckled. He looked over at a couple and one of the tables. "I think you should be serving them, waitress" he sighed.

I walked over to them, feeling nervous and scared. The young woman had reddish brown hair and brown eyes with a red dress and the young man had dark blue hair with blue eyes and a suit with a hat. looked at them slowly and created a gap between my lips, trying to speak.

"Miss, is everything okay?" the young man asked.

"Yes! I'm sorry....this is my first time. Sorry...humans" I shuttered.

"Oh, you are not from here either" she laughed. "Just like my husband" she chuckled.

"Huh?"

"Nadia! Nothing....miss. My wife can be a bit weird at times" he said blushing a little.

I took out my notepad. "What's your order?" I smiled.

"I will take the spaghetti and meatballs but he won't eat it with me" she pouted. "He really loves fish so the Fish Feasta...I guess" she smiled nervously.

He seemed to be drooling and looking at the menu. "And the Chicken surprise" he giggled, licking his lips.

"With vegetables" she said boldly.

He was covered in despair. "Why...." he groaned.

I wrote down everything they said and bowed. I gave it to the chef and he smiled. "You are doing a good job, Ms. Fisherline. What I expected from one of Marlon's friends"

"Th-Thank you, sir" I said then went to Marlon mopping the kitchen floors.

He looked very determined and working really hard with no emotions on his face. I felt a bit happy about that then I slipped but landed back on my feet.

"Woah, you scared me there" he laughed nervously.

"I'm fine, I got my cat-"

He covered my mouth and looked around us. "You can't say that out loud" he sighed. He pointed at a man in a suit and a white coat. "See that man. He's Derek Davis, a scientist. He has been around here trying to find out weird happenings of animals turning into animals or even mutated...even he says that he has seen some wizards. We all did but his team wants to track them even you down for experiments. Be. Careful" he said, folding his arms then fixed the black bow over my ears.

I gulped. "Yeah"

I collected the food for the couple from the chef and went to them. They thanked me then I realized the water in the vase on their table was frozen.

"Uhh...."

"Look, a cute dog!" the young woman exclaimed, pointing somewhere.

I looked where she was pointing. Ugh..nothing. This human is stupid and blind.

I looked back at the vase and the water was unfrozen. She smiled at me in a weird way and her husband trembled.

"Okay.....I'm going" I said slowly and left to the kitchen.

Marlon, the chef and myself cleaned up the restaurant and closed it at night after the customers left.

"Ah....another day tomorrow" this chef chuckled, rubbing his white beard.

"Yus!" Marlon did a toothy smile.

The chef put on his jacket and waved goodbye to us. "Don't be late!" he said then left, leaving the bells on the door swinging with a nice ring.

It stopped then it became very quite. Marlon gave me his jacket and smiled at me. "It's cool out there now. Just being a gentleman" he laughed.

"Shut up...you idiot" I mumbled.

We walked out of the restaurant and locked it. We started walking to his home. I felt safe and warm, walking beside him. He suddenly held my hand and looked at the night sky, not even realizing I'm looking like a tomato. My ears moved rapidly as I stared at our hands. It felt nice.

"So, why were you at the back of the supermarket when I found you?" he asked.

My heart stopped for a moment and I felt a terrible feeling in my throat. Before I could speak, there was a loud crash nearby. He ran, dragging me along. I looked behind us and saw a monster.

"Help...me" I heard a voice from it.

I pulled my hand from him then ran towards it.

"Ebony!" he screamed.

I ran to it without thinking of a plan or to help it. It attacked me but I avoided it's attacks.

"Jada...." It hiccupped.

I swung a kick at it then it grabbed my leg and slammed me into a building but...I did feel much pain. But why?

I punched it away from me. I noticed Marlon staring at me like I'm a ghost. The monster was running back to me then I saw a green light shinning on my hands. I aimed them it it and took a deep breath. What am I doing?

A green light hit it then surrounded it. I ran to it to see if anything happen.

A little kitten was laying in the middle of the lonely road. I saw a black smoke leave it then the kitten ran into my arms.

"Ebony...you-"

"I don't know how it happen" I said, looking at my hands.

A little girl was crying, looking around the surroundings. "Princess, where are you?"

The kitten jumped out of my arms and ran to her. The girl cried tears of joy. "Princess....I missed you. I don't want to lose you again" she said, wiping her tears. She looked up at us and smiled. "Thank you" she giggled.

"No...problem, kid. But thank the lady. She was the one that found your kitten" he chuckled.

She hugged my leg and cried. "Thank you so much, miss!"

A small smile grew on my lips then a hugged her back slowly. "Please take care her, your Princess"

The girl left with the kitten. He smirked at me and placed his hands on his hips. "Humans are disgusting" he said in an annoying voice.

"Shut up. I did it for my kind not that human girl" I glared at him and blushed a little.

"As you say, Kitten" he laughed.

I slapped him across the face. "Stop calling me names!"
