Quinn POV

It's October now and the weather is calming down a bit.

Harry and I are good, and which is always a plus. Sometimes he's distant because of his family, which I suppose is understandable. Sometimes I wish he'd just let me in.

Faith is home for the weekend and she's bugging me about my relationship with Harry. She's too nosy for my liking sometimes.

I'm currently seated in my living room scrolling through the channels my TV has. My sister is away in her room, on a phone call with her boyfriend as always.

I'm bored and TV is my last resort. My phone buzzes beside me and it's Joy.

Joy: wanna come over and hangout?

Me: is what's his name there?

Joy: no

Me: sure be there in 15

I lock my phone and get off of my couch. I run upstairs and grab my key, wallet, and shoes before leaving my quiet house that is filled with one extra person.

I'm wearing leggings and a tee shirt. I feel and look ugly, but I'm just going over Joy's house so I shouldn't feel that bad.

Harry emerges out of his house, slamming his front door behind him. He walks down his porch mumbling swears to himself, which makes my eyebrows knot automatically.

"Hey," I say while he walks past. He ignores me and goes straight to his truck. My eyebrows furrow and I turn around. "Harry-" He cuts me off before getting into his truck.

"Just leave me alone Quinn." He says in low growl. Harry slams his truck door shut and drives away a few moments later.

My front teeth seep into my lower lip and I ignore the feeling of my heart slightly pinching by how he spoke to me.

I glance to the front door opening and see his Dad walking out. He gives me a gentle wave and turns around and looks back into his home. I hear a gentle cry come from their home and my eyebrows furrow. "Everything alright?" I ask his Dad who has crossed arms.

He releases a sigh and runs his fingers through his hair. "Lately no. If you can calm Harry down at some point that would be great." I nod hesitantly at his words before going my own way.

As I drive to Joy's, my mind is on Harry and what happened at his house that made him leave in a rush.

I'm seated on Joy's bed, bored.

She failed to tell me Kay, Kat, Amber, and five other girls were going to be over as well for a slight get together. If I knew this, I would've dressed cuter and made sure I looked less homeless. I guess it's also my fault for not asking.

They're talking about—whatever they're asking about. I tend to zone out and think about things that interest me, like setting up for homecoming, running for class president, and of course applying to colleges. But all of those happy thoughts of mine slip away once someone speaks to me.

It's late now, and I'm becoming a little tired. "Are you still with um—Harry is it?" Amber, a mutual friend of Joy and I ask. Her blonde hair is pinned up into a bun and her makeup is very pretty looking.

"Yes," I say with a gentle smile. She nods and looks to the other girls who give her a look. "Is there a problem?" I ask, my voice is defensive.

"No, just um, you know. Different." A different girl named Rachel says.

I roll my eyes a little by her words and lean back. My phone is in my hand and once and a while I'll click my home button hoping to see a text from Harry, but don't. I just see a missed call from Faith with a text that follows saying 'wya?'

I shrug my shoulders and look back to my "friends" who are gossiping. What catches my eye is Kay lighting something.

"What are you doing?" I ask with a questionable voice.

"Smoking," She says like it's obvious. She puts the joint between her lips and then blows out the smoke a few moments later. She passed the joint to the girl beside her and they all do it.

I stand up and speak. "Good talk, see you guys Monday." I look to Joy who now has the blunt. I shake my head before leaving.

I can't believe Joy, letting people get high in her house. I can't believe her for smoking as well. She's been hanging out with Kay too much. Kay is a drug addict herself with how much coke and weed she does.

I arrive to the usual hilltop Harry and I occasionally go to, and see a familiar car parked on the platform I am on.

I get out of my car and head to Harry who's sitting in the bed of his truck that is viewing the city.

He doesn't move or look at me when I sit down beside him. He just continues to stare forward. "How's your day?" I ask a few moments later.

"How did you know I was here?" Harry asks me, ignoring my question that I actually wanted to know the answer to.

"You're always here. I just assumed," I say honestly. He doesn't respond which makes me frown a little.

I lean in and kiss his cheek, which makes his green eyes look over at me. I give him a gentle smile and his eyes look into mine. I slip my hand on top of his and rest my head on his shoulder.

"Wanna talk about it?" I ask timidly.

"There isn't much to talk about." He tells me.

"You seemed pretty pissed off earlier." I bring up in a kind, and soft sounding voice. I just don't want him to get mad at me.

"Yeah well, I'm not the happiest with myself." I hear my boyfriend mumble angerily to himself.

"What happened?" I ask. I keep my eyes on him as he looks at the city still.

He doesn't respond for a few moments. Silence is filled between us and he just bites his lower lip pink with his front teeth.

"Chris was being a dick today, purposely. He was just saying rude things to me. Or he'd bring up sensitive topics that pissed me off. Chris knew he was getting under my skin too. He just had this smirk that made me more irritated. He went on, and on, and on. I eventually had enough and snapped, which I shouldn't have because I know better." Harry explains to me through a long breath.

"What did you do?" I ask my boyfriend.

"I slapped him," He admits to me with closing eyes and shrugging shoulders. "And it was a hard slap that even shocked me. But it just felt so good to shut him up with it. But it was wrong and I'm not a violent person."

"Was that the crying from your house this afternoon?" I ask timidly.

"Yes," He mumbles. "Alyssa saw me slap him and she started to cry because she saw me do a bad thing. So it was a mixture between them both."

"Oh," I say. "Not saying he deserved it, but he kind of did if he was bugging you that much and saying mean things."

"He's eight years old, I'm seventeen. I shouldn't smack a child," He says matter-of-factly. I squeeze his hand and hear him release a sharp breath. "So now Chris hates me more and Alyssa is mad at me."

"Have you ever tried talking to Chris?" I ask curiously. "Maybe there is something going on with him."

"I want nothing to do with him, and that's the bad thing." Harry tells me. "I just--don't like him. Words can't describe my slight resentment for him. He's just--Chris." His empty hand tugs through his curls.

"He's your brother though." I say.

He chuckles a little. "I have two other brothers and three other sisters. I'll be good."

"I know but still," I murmur. "Maybe try to talk to him." I offer.

"I've tried. He just says something rude then walks away." My boyfriend informs me. I see him roll his eyes and release a sigh. "I'm sorry for brushing you off this morning. I was just fired up and mad--which seems to be usual lately."

"It's fine." I say. "Have you been out of your house all day?" I ask curiously.

"Yeah," He tells me. "I went to hangout with Zayn and Tom, which made me slightly feel better."

"Did you talk to them about what happened?" I ask.

"No," Harry snickers a bit. "We played video games and drank beer." I bite my lower lip and nod, even though his eyes are aren't on me. I look forward and look at the city lights that are bright and beautiful. "How was your day?" He asks me, changing the topic.

"Eh," I admit.

Silence falls between us again and we just keep looking at the view. He fidgets around and sighs. "I got to get going. My Mom has a shift at the diner at eight and my Dad picked up another few cars."

I look over to Harry who's looking at me. "Okay," I say. "If you need me my phone is on." I say to him.

He gives me a warm smile then presses his lips against mine. It's a quick kiss but makes my insides tingle. "Thank you Quinn."

"For?" I ask.

"Just letting me vent." He says simply.

"Of course." I smile gently. I kiss his lips once more before getting out of the back of his trunk and going to my car parked a few feet away.

Harry POV

When I walk into my house, it's silent, which is odd considering it's always loud.

My Mom places my younger sister in my arms then kisses my cheek before leaving for the diner. Lola looks ready to fall asleep at any moment.

I walk to her room and open the door slowly. Alyssa is laying down in bed, facing the wall. I put my youngest sister down in her bed and adjust the blankets to her liking. I kiss the top of her head and her cheek, which makes a lazy smile appear on her lips. "I love you Hazza," My two year old sister says in her kiddish voice.

"I love you more." I say in a gentle whisper. The dimples on her rosy cheeks appear a little and her light brown eyes close.

I walk over to Alyssa's bed and see she's still awake. Her pillow is pressed against her chest and her blankets are brought up to her shoulders.

I don't say anything to her. I just kiss the top of her head and adjust the blankets on her small body. "I'm mad at you," I hear her whisper.

"I know," I whisper back.

"Good." She says back to me. I smile softly by her slight sass and itch my tired eyes.

"I'll be in my room if you need me," I say in a whisper. "I love you."

"I love you too." My younger sister says.

A few moments later I leave my sisters' room and head to mine. I look to Evan who is sprawled out on his mattress and has his mouth opened a bit.

I lay down on my box spring and wince. I really need a new mattress.

My mind travels off to Quinn and how I wish she was laying beside me now.
